An exceptional talent
He molested an undercover cop and tried to bribe her with $100. He was jailed for one month and fined $10,000 for attempting to bribe a police officer.
In mitigation, his defence lawyer told the court that he ‘was an exceptionally talented individual, who graduated with a first class honours degree in engineering... He was also very good singer and had qualified for vocal training at the London School of Music.’
I am not sure if the court took into consideration the molestor’s exceptional talent when passing the sentence. What I thought was a pity is that he was not recruited as a foreign talent to boost our economy. First class engineering must be rare and in high demand here. And good singer could be usefully employed in our entertainment industry.
What a waste of talent. He could be another esteemed FT and may even become an MP with potential to be a minister.
Don't worry,Pappies have all the freak foreign talents at the right place with with high salaries to freak the locals. This is what the Pappies are good at
ReplyDeleteEagles eye.
How come even our lawyers are also so talented, coming out with this kind of plea for leniency for his client.
ReplyDeleteBut on second thought, since money can pervert justice and power can invoke justice, nothing surprises me with this kind of argument out of the box.
You need brilliant lawyer to come out with brilliant arguments mah.
ReplyDeleteHow come the lawyers were not creative to come up with better reasons to mitigate. It seems liked begging leh!
ReplyDeleteDid you also read this?
ReplyDelete"He had received a stern police warning for molesting the officer."
The police is not very protective of their women police. WTF !
preeease arhhh ... Ah gong is a lawyer too , 上梁不正,下梁歪 lorrrr .... 天下乌鸦一班黑暗.
ReplyDeleteToo bad he did not have the right genes to qualify as an elite meritocrat or he will be made a director of a Temasek owned company.

ReplyDeleteredbean, please lah, be respectful.
ReplyDeleteThose are the words of a very expensive, very famous, very creative criminal lawyer. Over the years, I have grown fond of the way the he pleads for his loser clients. He certainly earns his fee through the creative use of the English language, and I never fail to smile or flat out ROTFLMAO!!
The funny part is that the legal fees are way more than the embarrassing $100 he offered the cop he tried to finger-bang. Whahahahah...damn funny lah. A singing engineer, from the sub-continent. Working as a glorified airborne waiter for Goat-Fucker airways.
This is high comedy lah.
I wonder if he can sing the song "Big Spender"?
…or Jailhouse Rock"
Got talent?
Only freak local talents can run the GLCs like GIC and Temasek Holdings. When the freak CEOs or Chairman of these companies lose billions of dollars they can quietly and slimely leave these companies to run for the presidency. Do they have any conscience when they lost billions of dollars of tax payers' money in wild gambling ventures of investing in untrustworthy American financial products. These local freaks are outclassed and outmaneuvered by first class American financial and commercial crooks and scoundrels. How can these freaks be qualified to run our country?
ReplyDeleteEagles eye.
Others like him has already became ministers.
ReplyDeleteYou want better quality talents in Singapore?
ReplyDeleteStop voting in the Millionaire talents put up by the Pro Alien Party.
Quality control begins with you the citizen.
Not with the political party.
Matilah, stop bringing nationality or personality into this post lah. I just want to highlight what we missed and the foreign talent that we could have had.

It is a long weekend here. I've called all the kids over to have a talk. I am delivering to them some very bad news: That they are going to have to pay back THE DEBT that the banksters and governments we deserved have created.
Tell your children the bad news. The world is in a BIG financial mess. No one really knows how bad it is. But one thing is for certain, it will take DECADES to pay off all the toxic debt created by the psychopathic geniuses running the world's finances.
Tell your children that eventually the government is coming for their money. No choice. Debt has to be paid back. Teach your children how to limit the impact of this impending LEGALISED THEFT, and how to perhaps profit regardless.
In the Singapore context: The more money Temasek loses, the more money the kids have to pay back. The CPF Ponzi Scheme is likely to get more "garang". They can expect the minimum sum to reach close to $1 million in their lifetime :-)
Got MediSave?
redbean,
ReplyDeleteCannot lah. "Race" is a highly emotional subject in Singapore. The last famous Indian gent who was caught "pressing tetek" of a chick was the Istana's resident alchoholic Devan Nair.
Pure gold comedy lah.
I am not sure whether he was a gifted singer, but I know that there is at least ONE Indian Elvis in existence.
Got curry?
When Europe tanked, when the US tanked, our SWF will tanked. And $1m minimum sum will be a reality.
ReplyDeleteAnd those with million dollar property mortgages and half a million dollar HDB debt, God bless you.
Singapore's SWF might tank, but because of compulsory CPF, the money will "magically" be replaced by our hard working enslaved children, many of them being the kids of today's "foreign talents". Ah, sweet justice ;-)
ReplyDeleteEurope will be owned by Indians and Chinese. America will be sold off to the international financiers.
"Creative destruction" according to Schumpeter is not about the "destruction" of assets per se, but a re-pricing. i.e. houses and factories don't just "vanish". They are re-priced, re-allocated for different use and their intrinsic value transferred to new owners.
The only things destroyed are the arrogance, pride and stupidity of the previous idiot owners who once thought they were invincible.
In Australia, the people will still be asleep and getting fatter, as the fat kids grow up into grossly obese adults.
That is why Australia is a blessed country and will not have to care about stupid growth that could not keep pace with inflation. What is life after all? A unstoppable rat race or to live life, take it a bit easy, smell the roses and have long weekends with friends and families in the outbacks or at the vineyards.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of life we are striving for? 4 As and ended as a super clerk while C graders are employed from all over the world to be the bosess.
And living in a shoebox is a craze, the new good life.
Australia is indeed blessed. And it had better be, because the folks running the show are almost all TOTAL FUCKHEADS -- as if Mr Bean is head of government.
ReplyDeleteI'll say it again, as I have in the past: despite all its faults, I'd choose the PAP anyday over the wankers and thieves governing Australia.
We are "blessed" with a healthy entrepreneur culture, especially in the West, where from the beginning, immigration to this remote place was mainly by rugged individuals who engaged in private enterprise.
The first ship to sight the WA coast was a merchant ship. We are celebrating WA Day today, and the private enterprise that made this state the wealthiest. WA was never a "convict colony".
Singapore's problem is the over representation in the (so-called) "free" market by large, tax-funded government enterprises.
If you look at the figures carefully, you might find that those larger government corporations are THE BIGGEST EMPLOYERS (and probably importers as well) of foreign talent and workers.
You have too much government in the business realm. Public sector has no place in the private sector, and vice versa.
Got Crony Capitalism?
Fortunately or unfortunately Dr Doom agreed with you. They just interviewed him on CNA yesterday and his diagnosis, too much govt that would eventually killed a free wheeling economy.
ReplyDeleteWhen you live in Thailand long time, you see things very clearly, because all your "basic needs" are well looked after :-)
ReplyDeleteFaber has been living in Asia for over 30 years.
Anyway, with crisis comes danger and opportunity. The challenge for the greedy, opportunistic, profit-seeking individual is always to decide what the "right side of the trade" is and to adopt a tentative position, ever ready to switch and adpat to changing circumstances, and there are times you are going to lose -- risk is part of life.
But IMO, taking calculated risks is a far better option than burying your head in the sand and reading New Age books on self-help. That is being passive, which means you'll get trampled by the herd, or bankrupted by the government.
PAP, elites and crony capitalism is The Asian Way of doing business. If you are "connected", you can play like a lord in the free market.
If you are just another common citizen working hard to stay alive, educate your kids, save for retirement and provide for your family...chances are you will get screwed nicely. It is sad that that is the general state of the world. People all over the world are "protesting" their governments looking for "political answers". You can throw a man like Mubharak in jail, but things are likely to get WORSE in Egypt.
Same is likely to happen in Singapore in 2016 if/ when the PAP gets tossed out onto the scrapheap of history. Singapore economy will shrink. But like I said, to seek and realise profit, make sure you are on the right side of the trade.
Follow the Big Money.
Got Game?
