Saying the obvious, politely

Telling the PAP that it is going to be history is a bit harsh and difficult to accept. Perhaps there is a polite way to tell the PAP that things are not the same anymore. What has happened in Hougang was an exact replica of the heydays of the PAP. The people rallied behind the party with their hearts, not watching their pockets. It was genuine support for a political party, and PAP had its fair share or giant share of it before. The PAP was the party that the people chose to support and to cheer for.

Would the PAP want to know why the support is fleeing to the opposition camp? It is definitely not because the opposition were better, with more talented leaders. The opposition at this point is time is still a small motley crowd that would be hard pressed to form the govt to run the country. The fault lies squarely on the PAP. It is a confluence of many things, poor or bad policies, self serving policies, poor talents being pushed to the podium as the best talents, a neglect for the people and the people’s interests, alienating the people and taking the people for granted. And more.

Would the PAP be able to see through the problems it is facing them? They have very talented and smart people with them. It is not difficult to know the hard truth if they wanted to. But they could choose to deceive themselves and persist to think that everything is fine. And the old guards will say no problem, we will win back everything. They would even say that Hougang was a piece of cake if they were to do what were necessary. It was the fault of a young turk that refused to listen to the experience old guards. They could do this and that. Put a few men here and there to do what they used to do and easily win back Hougang. Such dated perception of the reality, that things could still be done the old way, will still dominate party thinking. The old school of thoughts and old methodology still rule the inner thinking of the party. And it could turn aggressive and abrasive. You could see the signs during the hustling. The image of gangsterism was there and no one could miss it.

It is not the end of the PAP. It has 4 good years to do the right stuff. It is now the will to serve the people, not rhetoric. Put the money where the mouth is. Slaughter all the fake sacred cows. Look after the people and their interests. The exact and specifics that need to be done are common knowledge. The work is all cut out and waiting. Is there a political will to do the right thing, to, for once, be less self serving and be people centric?

Can Hsien Loong turn it around? Can he stop the slide and revive a party that is turning into a dodo, a deaf frog that is too much of itself? More of the same is not going to work anymore. The old ways, the old guards, must be turned into monuments in the museum and a fresh start is needed, with leaders that are there not for the money. Money is the cause that is seeing the decline of the PAP. Would the PAP wait to turn into ashes befall it rises as a phoenix, or would it pick itself up quickly and fly again.

  1. It doesn't matter which party wins the election...

    ...the government ALWAYS gets in.

Any party which seizes the reins of LEGAL ABSOLUTE POWER of The State, is sooner or later, going to fuck the citizens.

    Mark my words. ;-)

    Got constitution?

  2. The party has shifted from idealism and age old belief of virtues and goodness to crass materialism. It presumes that everyone is motivated by money alone, including everyone of them.

  3. Greed is EXCELLENT. In fact, any hightened emotion which makes people behave "automatically" by short-circuiting the rational mind is FANTASTIC.

When people react emotionally, they literally "lose their mind", and make BIG mistakes, but in their corrupted mind believe heart and soul that they ARE RIGHT. They won't listen to reason -- so don't waste your breath. Better that you find some "advantage" over them and exploit the situation -- fair and square, and of course legal (i.e don't break laws).

“Educate your children to self-control, to the habit of holding passion and prejudice and evil tendencies subject to an upright and reasoning will, and you have done much to abolish misery from their future and crimes from society.”
    ― Benjamin Franklin

    Got self-control?

  4. This is precisely the reason Marx predicted violent revolution to overthrow the status quo. RB can continue to solicit humbly in the meekest manner-- as long as LHL's physical body and wealth is not a bit threatened, he will not budge an inch.

He will continue to screw the people. Today, stooge like Lim Chong Yah, Tommy Koh started to dissent not because they sincerely care about people, but because they can see that LHL's policy of injuring the people eventually hurt the elites as well.

There is 2 path LHL can choose. First, he should stop all his FT bullshit and all his rentier capitalism. Or, he can play scourge earth and naturalize as many FT as possible to dilute Singaporeans.

From what I see, I think LHL is going to choose the 2nd way.

Ahh....now that the elction fever is over, even WP is now saying in Parliament don't turn off the FT tap, Singapore needs FT, otherwise you will hurt businesses as costs will shoot to the roof and businesses will close..

  10. Currently, PAP is too addicted to their near absolute power and authority over the country. I strongly believe PAP will stubbornly resist actual reforms until and unless they lose two third majority in parliament. Only then will they get they act together.

  11. The fact is the PAP failed to realise that certain policies are not sustainable.

Continuous property price increase is not sustainable. Without the foreigners propping up the market, it will collapse, hence the fear of changing policies that will seriously control foreigners coming in.

Continuous upgrading of HDB flats is not sustainable as fatigue is setting in, with one cycle after another of upgrading tied to promises made during elections. Upgrading is upgrading, whether you call it MUP or some other fanciful name to fool the masses.

Accelerated population increase with imported citizens is not sustainable because our size and infrastructure cannot cope.

Using the PAP controlled MSM and hoping that it will continue to influence citizen's thinking is outdated and irrelevant with the arrival of the internet. That is why Singaporeans by and large are now more politically alert and have been inflenced by the various blogs that invariably are against the PAP. It is a very telling platform especially the videos on Youtube.

Now, what can the PAP do? Some things cannot be changed without catastrophic conequences, especially the property market, which they are just tinkering with without actually doing much to bring down prices. The bubble may grow, but the crash will be a disaster. CPF money will be wiped out overnight.

  12. Can the PAP change?

Not on your life. Old or young they are from the same mode, chosen from the same source, ie the Arm Forces, NTUC and Civil Service, indoctrinated by the same people who were indoctrinated by yet the same older people right to the beginning. How to change?

They say inbreeding is bad. I agree. How bad it is now for the PAP, only time will tell.

  13. Few days back, 4th largest spanish bank Bankia on the brink of bankruptcy just because Spanish property fell by -- a petite 30% from the peak. It request a tax payer bailout of USD$ 24 billion, while its bansters has already laughing all their way, pocketing all the bonus.

This is the hazzard of fractional reserve banking. A 5% fall in our property will cause all our banks into red. A 30% fall will send them into bankruptcy and you will see those afore $$$ bansters begging for food on the streets.

The whole fucking PAP are banskters. Kwa Geok Choo is from old bankster family. One of LKY brother open Tat Lee Bank. Their relative Tony Tan's is one of the OCBC mafia. They would rather see citizen suffer rather than seeing their own banks blow up.

The most likely scenario would be a certain event jolt our property. It could be some patriotic Malay bombing Shenton Way, or the mass exodus of MNC causing wide-spread default.....etc These events would send property into tailspin.

Absence of that, I do not see an end to our asset ponzi. I think PAP has already embark on scourge earth policy, to suicide Singaporeans.

  15. How can PAP progress when the clown prince and senile fart in parliament are the main root of why PAP is dying ?

Does that remind anyone of Qing Dynasty trying to reform itself in the last day while still having terms of reference such as maintaining useless emperor, dynasty families , corrupted incompetent officials and feudal monarcy system ?

  16. Property prices can be controlled in Sing, most of the times except during major global market downturn.

Govt should bring down prices of new HDB flats for 1st time newlyweds Singaporeans (new citizens...need to wait 5 years, and after serving NS, PRs cannot buy HDB period). Increase supply of HDB flats. Prices will come down. Singaporeans who live in HDB must forget about their flats as "great" investments as propagated in the past. Be contented; something must give.

On the other hand, restrict private condos & landed properties supply. So this market can stabilize and might even go higher.
Then the economic system will not be adversely affected.

Policywise, there is an intentional approach to delink HDB (cost based) from private property market (so-called mkt based).

This is about the best interim solution due to our incompetent gahmen who had brought in too many FTs without the proper infrastructure ready as well as proper plans thought out.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The problem is that many of them have invested so much in private properties and needed the HDB upgraders to the suckers while they made huge profits. They are forcing the young people to buy private to kill them while they profitted handsomely.

It is a shameful and atrocious self serving policy that sucks dry the savings of the young people.

gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to
