FTs causing havoc in the island

They are new, with short roots or new roots that have not sunk in deep enough. All it needs is a little storm and they will be falling all over. Unlike the locals who were born and bred from young, becoming a fixed feature of the land, part of the land, permanently, the newly planted trees, the instant trees, are creating more problems instead of help. They are crashing over cars, hundreds of them.

The people have been warned to avoid the forest or wooded areas when there is a big storm, for fear of FTs. This is a newly created problem because of FTs. Aren’t the FTs here to help to make the place better? But they have achieved one key objective, create jobs. Many workers would have to cut and remove them. Many more jobs will be created to repair the cars and damages to buildings and infrastructure. Fortunately no one was hurt.

This is not only an ominous sign. It is a testimony of the problems we have to face with new transplants with short roots. A storm is all it takes for them to run or turn into trouble for us. We have been sold with all the good stuff of FTs but not the negative side. The gods are speaking up. See, this is what will happen if there are too many FTs, without roots or short roots. They cannot be the same as the local trees.

  1. Got to disagree with You that FTs are causing problems.
It is the sin of the instant tree importers and NEVER the instant trees that cause all the miseries to the local population.
May the Sinners go to hell soon, it will be ok even if I have to go with them.

  2. Fully agree with you that the real cause of the FT problem is the decision maker.

  3. Any decision taken leads to consequences. There are always unintended consequences. Therefore there's always the good and the bad which happen as a result of a decision.

For e.g. If you like your food "natural" without chemical preservatives or antibiotics, you might not experience the negative effects of certain food additives, but you increase your risk of getting food poisoning -- salmonella, e coli, or worse like dysentery.

OTOH, those (like me) who do freak out over food aditives are less likely to get sick from infected food, but might run a higher risk of nasty shit later in life.

What I am saying is, there is no choice but to make a choice. Not making a choice is also a choice.

All choices are in effect trade offs -- you weigh (or neglect and remain ignorant...again your choice) the benefits against the costs, the intended consequences against the unintended ones you know and those you know you don't know.

To have a vibrant multi-million citizen modern society, you need more people -- which is happening. On the down side, you will see more crime, incidents and culture clashes.

It can't be helped. Man the fuck up and deal with it, and stop being such monochromatic, low-frequency, whinging, xenophobic pussies.

But I have problem with manufactured consent .... The powers that be has covered all the bases

Chose right or left , right or wrong . It will suit them just fine

Why do you think all roads leads to Rome ? Cause the Romans blitz it that way....

Has there been a choice ? it always has been a illusion

The elites down fall was that the gorths n monguls used the very same roads to blitz them !

  5. Hi Bengster,

At the end of the day -- illusion or not -- you have to make the effort to understand whats going on, and to choose your actions on how you want to live your life.

That fact is inescapable. You can blame luck or circumstance...but you still have to choose how to live...or not.

  6. @ Bengster:

wrt manufactured consent. I love Noam Chomsky too, but I don't take him too seriously ;-) As a linguistics professor however, he is awesome.

The idea of manufactured consent is not new. The idea is mooted in "The Prince" by Machiavelli and "The Art Of Worldly Wisdom" by Balthazar Gracian. It is an old political trick which continues to work because people are emotional and respond to stimulation to their "fear" radar. In fact, you'll find many of them will "freak out".

If you can scare a whole bunch of people, and gain their sustained attention and eventually their trust, congratulations, you can now basically manipulate them.

The key for an individual is to be a skeptical and critical thinker, and never stop asking the question "WHY" (until it drives the "manipulator" nuts), then making up your own mind regardless of the "social pressure" you might experience tugging on your mind to "follow the crowd".

And if you are wrong, at least you can trace back your own steps to find the errors and (hopefully) learn from them.
