The fight to retake Singapore for Singaporeans has been a long and arduous task and appearing to be a fight in vain. Many were resigned to the fate that they will lose their grip on their country and foreigners will replace them in every field. And the foreigners have been on the upper hand with the govt on its knees begging them to come, and laying the red carpet to welcome them. And the demands by the foreigners grew louder, some even telling the Singaporeans to move out of their country if they are not happy. They are the talents to help the daft Sinkies, to bring prosperity to the island. And they threaten to leave if they were not granted privileges like the citizens.
Today’s ST front page headline reads, ‘Singaporeans first in new P1 registration rule’. Some reported that it was a generosity of the govt, to accord the citizens this privilege. Would you believe that they think it this way? This is the basic right and privilege of all citizens and should not be questioned or downgraded. It was given away and the returning of this privilege is nothing to crow about.
What is significant is that the enemy is on the retreat. The enemy has given up a small hill. Singaporeans must keep on pushing to reclaim their country and all the rights that are rightfully theirs. No one, no political party, must think that they can put Singaporeans as second class in their own country. Anyone, or political party that thinks otherwise should not be elected to undermine the interest of Singaporeans.
There is no need to say thank you. It is like giving you a few dollars as handouts and keeping tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in your CPF savings and expecting the people to be grateful. When you can have your savings at your disposal, not necessary that you would throw it away, you don’t need handouts and crumbs. And you can really feel richer.
When as citizens, you are the real owners and masters of this land of yours, then only can the people live more confidently and be proud of their country and citizenship. This is our country, this is our home.
PS. If more citizenships are thrown at the foreigners liberally, it will be LPPL.
Do not depend on anyone to protect this country. Only the people can protect this country. If the people don't do so, it can be given away or sold.
ReplyDeleteDon't be too happy yet. Singapore first only for balloting.
ReplyDeletePR and foreigner can get in without balloting if they know the right moves.
Singaporeans don't deserve their cuntree.
ReplyDeleteYou have to ask yourself WHY they lost it in the first place, before you start spruicking off like some demented military wannabe "revolutionary" commander.
If the foreigners do a better job at looking after their interests, as well as the national interest, in my opinion they are more deserving of Singapore, and when they WIN, they'll be winning fair and square.
Face the facts, some of the locals are dead-shits and dead weights, who still believe that the world -- and especially their government -- owe's them a living because of a "belief" in some mythical so-called "rights" -- where in reality no such rights exist.
This is why we vote Opposition for the sake of Opposition.
ReplyDeleteIf we don't have a strong Opposition to defend Singapore and Singaporeans, an irresponsible government could sell or give away the entire country and none of us will be wiser for it.
You voted Opposition in GE 2011.
In 2012, we have an inclusive budget.
In 2012, we have free Teochew porridge in Hougang.
Potong Pasir did not vote Opposition in 2011.
Now no more free abalone porridge.
We have historical records of how such a situation could be played out during the dying years of the Qing Dynasty and the early days of ROC in China when the country's wealth was controlled by the Soong family and the inner circle elite.
ReplyDeleteSuch a scenario was repeated in Hongkong pre 1997 and everything was up for grabs. Fortunately there was a China overseeing the takeover and some responsible Hongkong leaders that ensured the island was not robbed of everything.
Swiss lawyer Franziska Zimmermann may have been in Singapore for only 18 months, but she talked as if she has been staying in Singapore since birth and even found fit to lecture Singaporeans!
ReplyDeleteIn an interview conducted by the Straits Times on expatriates working in Singapore, 37 year old Ms Zimmermann felt that Singaporeans are generally friendly to foreigners though some harbor anti-foreigner sentiments, that is to be expected.
“This anti-foreigner issue is in every city. It’s a natural debate and the Swiss are questioning it too. But no one owes anyone else a living; you cannot say you are entitled to jobs in your country,” she says....
The above is posted in Johnharding.com. And the view is similar to Matilah's. How many Singaporeans agree with this view that they should share their country with foreigners and must fight tooth and nail with foreigners for jobs in their own country?
Anon 9:47,
ReplyDeleteYou right. The PRs will now grab at all the pink ics thrown at them and acquire equal rights as citizens.
Piority in P1 registration for Singapore citizens- as if the PAP government is doing us a favour.
ReplyDeletethe only reasons they can do it so now, belatedly, is because they are building more international schools for these foreigners/prs. So no need to be too glib and happy. their kids will just get to go to those canadian or aussie or us or indian schools. no need to compete for our limited resources here already. they shld do the same for hdb resale and our smes/local starts up. the foreigners have been given a loooong run for a loooong bloody time. It's time we develop our talents. And you're right. No need to say thank you.
ReplyDeleteNow I am worried. What if all the foreign talents threaten to leave the country?
ReplyDeleteHeed my warning Singapore: change your outdated and patently WRONG "bumiputra mentality" way of thinking, for your own benefit.
ReplyDeleteNothing is given to you for FREE. Even FREEDOM has a huge cost. Everything which is valuable does.
Dear Singaporeans.
ReplyDeletePRs and foreigners are not the cause of your Primary 1 school registration woes.
Poor planning guided by a lousy set of values by the Proud Arrogant People is the real cause.
Firstly, classroom sizes should be no larger than 20 pupils to a class.
More schools should have been built 20 years ago.
More teachers should have been trained 20 years ago.
This should have done before the mass immigration started.
Where is the money going to come from?
Stop buying fighter jets that cost US$68 million dollars per plane.
How many Brigadier-Generals and Admirals do we need on a per capita basis of soldiers?
"What if all the foreign talents threaten to leave the country?"
They will have to ask the Pro Alien Party to get the answers.
Were they seduced into coming to Singapore under false pretenses?
Or did they come to Singapore with their eyes wide opened?
The solution is to build more schools and train more teachers.
Something that should have been done 20 years ago.
The problem is not the demand.
The problem lies with the inadequate supply for a 5.5 million population.
Money invested in foreign bank shares are useless.
A government is not a hedge fund manager.
A government's job is to look after its citizens and inspire the next generation to greater heights of achievement.
Matilah, I thought you could think clearly sometimes. Or maybe you are not the same Matilah. Or you are being paid to sing the song for more foreigners.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, don't anyhow use the term bumiputra. None of us are claiming to be bumiputras or demanding special rights. We are all citizens and demanding to be treated like citizens.
You mean you cannot understand the little difference like this?
Singapore sure mati lah if her citizens harbour the "egalitarian" mentalities of 'Matilah"-ask yourself sincerely ,is the current playing field even? Our referees may be highest paid but have they checked or tested the ground?
ReplyDeleteTsk,tsk, tsk. How can you people allocate places because of citizenship alone? Good school places must be allocated based on merits regardless of nationality. Then this country can progress and become better and more prosperous.
ReplyDeleteWe must not deprive the talents from attending good schools.
Nope. The way I see it is that the Singapore version of the bumiputra mentality is alive and well.
ReplyDeleteI guess you and I will have to disagree on this, but attacking me ad hominem won't change my opinion.
You're too emotional redbean. You scurry to the defense of your oh-so-precious "ideal" Singaporean that you can't see the ugliness in the culture.
As citizens of this island of ours, we have the right to be selfish for our own good and for the good of our children and grand children.
ReplyDeleteWe will vote out any govt that sell us out through the democratic process of course. And those politicians who think they can sell out the people can still compaign for the people's vote and get themselves elected.
Hey, democracy at work.
Hey good for you.
ReplyDeleteHow's that working out? ;-)
Slowly but surely.
