Petition by Transitioning.org

I was reading the comments in the above petition on employing Singaporean first. One signatory said he is not coming back as he did not have a roof over his head. Some will say not true. There are plenty of private flats out there what? Just because he is not qualified to buy HDB does not mean that he cannot buy from private or rent or stay with his parents. To me, such arguments are cock arguments.

For a professionally qualified Singaporeans and willing to live a less flashy lifestyle, which is prudence, they should not be forced into the private market to spend a million bucks just to have a roof over their heads. This is a $1m ransom just to return home to stay, produce children to do NS after they have done their share of NS.

Compare to the deal for PRs and new citizens, the Singaporeans cannot but feel cheated by the govt policy. The govt must allow every Singaporean the option to buy a public flat. The stupid excuse of the higher income competing with the lower income for flats is simply bull.

There is no competition if the govt builds enough flats for all Singaporeans. A roof over the head is a sound and pro citizen policy that was the foundation of our nation building in the early years. The current policy of forcing Singaporeans to pay through their noses in the millions for a small private flat is anti Singaporean.

Doesn’t the govt understand why Singaporeans are not returning home? The govt should stop singing songs and talking cock. It is such anti Singaporeans policies that are preventing Singaporeans from returning home. Or would the govt prefer more new citizens from other countries without any emotional ties or family bonds to replace our very own citizens who have done their share of NS? The govt must seriously review its housing policy to allow Singaporeans to buy a public flat, a roof over their head. This is how we started, where we came from. Don’t forget the basics. If the govt does not think this is important, then it can forget about Singaporeans coming home to roost and have babies for NS. The PRs will send their children away too when the time for NS comes.

  1. Such people who thinks that the govt owes them a debt just because he did NS is better off staying away then to come back and whine and spew anti govt rhetoric. If foreign pastures are more kind to him, by all means stay away. Pls do not come back.

  2. If the govt thinks like you, soon the country will be owned by new citizens. Hopefully before the new citizens take over, the original citizens will vote out the ruling party first.

  3. Nothing wrong with new citizens if they are deserving and hard working.

Singapore was and has been a migrant country all along. When Sir Raffles landed, Singapore was just a fishing village with malay fishermen. Then the influx of hard working chinese immigrants came from china.

  4. Singapore in the colonial days was a no man's land in a way. The Brits were temporary owners. There were no citizens to talk about in the way we know today. There was no ownership.

And the population was small and the island can make do with a few more millions.

Today is not yesterday. Would a owner give away his house to a stranger than his children? Would you?

  5. Thank you for enlightening me on this. I am just being too naive. I always think and believe the govt is for the people.

    My apologies.

  6. The private property market is on a significant extend, supported by citizens that was barred from the public housing.

A lot of foreign buyer will not invest in Singapore property if PAP does not held captive a segment of wealthier citizen and bar them from public housing.

These speculators need suckers to flip their properties, and a large portion of Singaporeans are forced to play suckers by PAP. These people provide a fundamental support for the property market.

What if PAP allow all Singaporeans to have access to public housing? Over the, our condos, landed property will crash, injuring our elites, banks and landlord.

This is what rentier economics is all about.

Over the years, PAP has gradually shifted and is now diametrically opposite to the interest of ordinary Singaporeans and the nation of Singapore.

PAP's 50 year of nation building has produced a place of immigrants - BIG failure.

  8. Hi Veritas, you hit the nail on its head.

Shitty Sinkies have been conditioned to tell themselves that this country is free for all. Anyone can come in and take over. It doesn't belong to us. Not happy move off.

This is a sign that the daft Sinkies have a brain full of shit.

Make no mistake about it, we are the original citizens of this land fought and built by our forefathers. We made it what it is and we shall decide who can come and stay with us. The island is not free for sale to any takers.

Daft Sinkies must wake up and take ownership of their inheritance. Fuck those who think this island is for any foreigner who wants to claim it.

We lose this island we lose everything.

  9. You are wasting your kindness on self centered ppl or in this case, opportunistic singaporeans(all people are selfish lets becareful not to waste our sympathy on them). People who prefer HDB over private, though they can afford private, and those who want to buy direct from HDB(some of these people have made considerable financial gain from HDB before or have family members or partners who are current HDB owners whom they intend to "share" ) have worked their sum like a shrewd businessman.

Today's quality of HDB is extremely high. Dollar for dollar return compared to private, be it rental or sale, HDB gets better yield or capital return. Furthermore, investing in HDB allows the richer to channel money which would gone to paying for more expensive private homes to second property, stocks, luxuries etc.

Public housing is a pot of gold to many people. The pot of gold is even bigger if you buy direct from HDB.

So save your sympathy and dont be a FOOL and play it into the hands of opportunistic Singaporeans and people with agendas.

Everybody wants to exploit public housing, isn't it obvious$$???$$??

  10. Those who can "think" for themselves are not welcome here. Chow Pappy only want daft sinkies to stay behind so that they will always vote for these scums. "I always think and believe the govt is for the people."

I used to believe that too.

Unfortunately, what I observe in Singapore does not match my belief.

So either I change my belief or I deny the truth of what I observe.

Is this not what your blog is all about?
Observing the truth and challenging our beliefs?

The truth is imbedded in my writings and when the truth bites or hurts, whichever, I have achieved what I set out to do.

Public Housing is one good example. The entitlement mentality. It is best that the PAP abolish HDB; let citizens buy their own from the market.

Either you are an idiot or you are a liar.

With PAP and LKY demonstrating every desire to plunder every cent from us, only moron will think that HDB are "entitled" by PAP.

HDB from the very begining is base on plundering. One of the dimension that allow cheap provision of HDB is land acquisition act, a gross injustice to every Singaporeans.

In short, public housings are funded every cent by our pocket.

Where you think PAP and Kuan Yew have the monies? Did they strike lottery.

The tacit social contract of land acquisition act is native Singaporeans must be provisioned with cheap housing. PAP has utterly broken it.

Whether HDB is better than the "slump" in the past is questionable.

Clowns in the MSM forever glorify HDB to the point that young singaporeans think that before, Singaporeans were sleep on the street naked.

I grew up in one of those "slumps" and occasionally stayed in villages of my relative. I can tell you the living conditions in the older days are much better than HDB barracks.

We have communual spirits. We subsisted on agriculture, and husbandry.

When my uncle get married, he just need to build himself a small cottage.

We play with sands, ponds, and reared dogs and cats. We visited one another's family everyday.

In my opinion, the old HDB is already a disastrous project that injured Singapore in the long run.

The HDB today is worse, its tyrannical, its run by a bunch of thieves to rob the citizen.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The land acquisition that gave the govt land that was practically free and marked up to today's market price and made the Sinkies paid for it at ransom price and Sinkies are happily chirping, cheap, cheap, cheap.

They did not know that any mishap in their occupational life will mean a life of misery. How many household can afford to pay a $500k or $300k mortgage esp when the bread winner is unable to bring in the money?

  26. Who is depriving Singaporeans from buying their HDB flat ?

  28. Zero mark. Wrong answer.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Since HDB owns the HDB flats.
And the government acquired the land cheaply from Singaporeans.

HDB flats should be sold at cost to Singaporeans.

    Citizenship should have its privileges.
If not, let's vote out the deaf frogs.

"It is best that the PAP abolish HDB"

Govt. owns 80-90% of the land in S'pore.

Govt. owns all the HDB flats.

I agree. Govt. should not be allowed to own land.
Return the land back to the citizens of Singapore.

PAP don't owe Singaporeans a living.

  32. "But you can never out- vote the other 60%, not at least in your lifetime."

    Really?
Then the PAP internet brigade can relax.
Go bully a poor, elderly Singaporean instead.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Don't adopt a siege mentality. I don't belong to a "PAP internet brigade". I m just stating tings the way I see it- in everything there are pros and cons.

Bully a poor or elderly ? No need to. Why would the govt want to do that ? What for ? For money ? Don't you think there are enough rich people here and these are easier to target ?

Rich buys a property costs $20 mio, gets taxed 3% or $600,000. Rich buys a diamond ring costs $1 mio, gets taxed at 7% or $70,000. Rich pays income tax, the poor (not the fake poor) dont need to pay tax. Administratively and politically, it makes no sense for govt to "bully" the poor and elderly. Get it ?

    ReplyDelete
  34. The poor all the time don't pay tax. Today, the poor pay GST, the jobless pay GST, the unborn babies pay GST, the dyings pay GST, the great great grandpa and grandma all pays GST. The school children also pay GST.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, missed out an important category. Those on public assistant also pay GST.

    ReplyDelete
  36. GST was levied so that income tax can be lowered from 30+% in 1970s to a max of 20% or thereabouts now. Govt lowered income tax in 1970s to attract those MNCs so that stupid sinkies can have a job and put food on table.

Everybody needs to pay GST. Administrativelt it is impossible to differentiate rich from poor everytime you buy something,a good or service. The poor pays proportionately much less tax on GST than rich. And if you are truly poor, you get all sorts of rebates amd subsidies whatever, either annually or ad hoc. If you want your GST to remain low, then u better hope Singapore remains a place the rich want to come and play. Else i m sure, your GST will go up like our neighbouring countries, 10%,12% or 15%.

You are really a crackpot and should be ashamed of all your lies. The rich hoard 99% of their income, while the poor live hand to mouth spending 100%. So if you have GST, the result is rich is going to pay less tax on proportion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is a real nut case.

  39. It's much easier to bully the poor. How many rich guy with $20M property can you bully? Will the rich bully themselves? No way.

To bully the poor is easy. Withhold CPF. $150,000 from every old folk. With 1million old folk, the is
$150,000,000,000. How many rich guy you need to bully to get this number?

    ReplyDelete
  40. If govt let u withdraw all your CPF and you gamble or invest and lost all away within a month, with 20 years more to go to 80, who is going to take care of you when u fall sick ? redbean? Redbean agrees to take care of you to foot your bills?

  43. The rich could buy a HDB flat from the resale market. Please don't fight with the lower or middle income earner for a HDB flat directly from HDB. Until such time, when the Government could meet all the demand, perhaps we could then relax the regulations.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi Afganistan, welcome to the blog.

You have missed the story and fed with a fiction. Singaporean rich are not fighting with the lesser rich or poor sinkies for HDB flats. The young people who earn a bit more are not rich. It is not right to rob them of their hald earned money earned during the start of their career. They have a lot of responsibility down the line, to start a family, to have children. Once they cough up their savings they will be back to square one, bank account empty. How to feel secure to start a family?

If the govt builds enough flats for everyone, there is no problem. It is a problem created by the govt by not building for the people. Do not simply accept the govt's explanation by putting the blame on the not really rich young people.

The rich are really rich and do not need HDB flats. Those who are rich, owning private properties, can be taken care off by regulations. Now, they even changed the regulations to allow the really rich, private property owners, to buy HDB. This is the real problem.

The daft ones are the govt policy makers. Oops, not really. They are too smart to exploit the people and make the people believe that it is the fault of daft Sinkies.
