This is the bill for seafood dinner for 4 adults and 2 children at a seafood restaurant in Geylang. It was touted as good food. The chef took the order and cooked it himself. Not sure if the restaurant is aircon. It looks like the typical old shophouse converts. Of course the customers saw red. Me too. I would rather spend that kind of money in a comfortable aircon restaurant with a more pleasant ambient. Geylang and $400!
But caveat emptor. Willing buyer willing seller. The only difference is that the willing buyer did not ask the price before ordering and thus asked for it. I never patronise any place when they hide the menu and the price. That is the first warning sign. Anything that people hide and refuse to tell in Singapore is telling you they have something to hide. Transparency is only for the fools.
Come to think of it, spending $420 is nothing. In this country, the price is unlimited. It can go to the millions for a surgery. Well, everyone is expecting to be paid in millions and anyway. All it takes is to call oneself a supertalent or the best cook or best meat cutter. Some suckers will just pay. Nothing is free. It all comes from the daft Singaporeans who don’t even know that they are being fleeced and keep saying, it is worth it. You pay the price for quality. That is the mantra of this paradise. The more pricer, the betterer the quality. Quality is measured by money paid.
Hi Red bean, that's is why you have paid ypur maid way too high a salary and yet you have to work like mad for keeping this maid. Long live, your good maid.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to be a carrot, behave like a carrot.
ReplyDeleteTrying to be a carrot and complaining after getting chop, what kind of carrot is that?
Truth be told, I am sure after this incident being widely reported, business there will improve by leaps and bounds. Singaporeans are like that. The more expensive it becomes, the more they go after it. Like properties and cars.
But you never mentioned what was being ordered by the 6 diners.
ReplyDeleteI notice some rich locals are just as greedy, they order abalone, shark fin, lobster ,star fish ,moon fish or whatever fish for each one of them ,but expect to pay peanuts.
Do you know the difference of dining in an air con restaurant and having dinner at Geylang? They never tell you right?Dun worry,I let you know.
Can see those gorgeous pretty dragon and Vietnam girls with miniskirts hanging around.Sometime my saliva oso drop before the food was serve.
And some will also tell you $420 is expensive but their intention is to show off and let you know that they can afford to spent so much.Dun be taken in,my dear friend.hehe..
$420 is cheaper than peanuts even for NKF what more for prata? Man..?
ReplyDeleteHi agongkia, the most expensive dish is crab beehoon or noodle. No sharksfin or anything glamorous.
ReplyDeleteWell, the new DBSS is touted as reasonable to some at $880,000 for a 5 rm unit in the far off corner called Tampenis.
Just imagine all the good things and that it is good value for the money then all will be fine.
Dear good Singaporeans here; what's money to sinkies!
ReplyDeleteHow many check the prices in the menu when dinning with others? And do You know why customers don't check or inquire about the prices?
'Paiseh'(feel awkward), 'bo taihong'(miserly), 'how-lian'(boastful), 'ai mien zi'(showy) are some of the reasons. See! There are more reasons than to check and or inquire into the prices. And if the caterers have beautiful or sexy waitresses, what's $420 for six dishes? It could be $500 for two hours with nothing to eat but to give the other party excitement and ecstasy
Go to the small retail outlets and market stalls to see real bargainings. The housewives are better at it.
In any case, much Sinful money passed from hands to hands, so no big deal, be it $880Ks for a roof or $330Ks for a two seater convertible.
Please do not behave like You have come from a village in Kalimantan(Borneo).
