4 more to go?

The PAP has announced its last batch of candidates for this GE. All in all these 24 are the brightest and the best from the bottom of the barrel. From my recollection, 15 MPs have been named to have call it a day. I could have missed out a couple perhaps. Taking the number of 15, plus two ex MPs who have passed away and their seats left vacant, and the additional 3 seats in Parliament, there is still a shortfall of 4 seats waiting to be vacated. I think the announcement of the last few to retire will come at the very last minute. Among this group could be some big catch waiting to be released to the twilight of time. And I think for such an announcement to be made, it would likely be made by the founder of the PAP himself. I can expect the announcement to send a shock wave through the political canvas and it would wipe out the smile on Mona Lisa’s face. Waiting for this exciting moment to come. I could be wrong and nothing dramatic could happen if it turns out to be an uneventful event. Or the numbers already added up to 24. Correct me if I am wrong.

  2. Two shorties and two lankies would make my day.

If my prediction is correct, all you guys hanging out here will get a 10 course Chinese dinner at the Ritz Carlton Millenia on my account funded by the growth dividends and topped up if the "windfall" not enough.

    Hehe.

  3. Your prediction of 4 at one go is a tad too optimistic. Even one is uncertain.

I think the 10 course Chinese dinner is as cold as cold turkey.

  4. The shorty should go.

His policies have disrupted the lives of an entire generation. Couples who have to delay their wedding and their staying together (to procreate) just because their HDBs take 3 years to construct! 3 years, thats the same time most condos take to be constructed, and who are the people who are buying condos, those with an established career and family, not HDBs whose target are young couples.

But hey, the people of his constituency kept him in...pity the stupid Singaporeans, worst those that vote for him. Continue to vote for him and the PAP's enhancement policy and one day your children will realise the enhancement is for the 20% of rich Singaporeans and 100% of foreign TALENT. Yep, you are not talent cause you are just dumb daft and doodled.

  5. The most irresponsible thing is asset enhancement. It is the transferring of debt from one generation to several generations. The young will pay a dear price for a stupid shoebox which is called home.

Anyone who has more than one child must accept the consequence that their children will be the victims of this high asset price policy.

But if they already bought several properties one for each children, enjoy, the property prices will be ten or $100m in times to come.

Even if one plate of char kway teow will cost $1000, still affordable.

  6. Redbean, you were right. Many elderly people are now complaining about the price increases by the hawkers at Hong Lim Complex, some by as much as 25%.

After upgrading the rental went up and the hawkers took the opportunity to charge more. Now workers around that area will be affected. Who suffered in the end? And who benefits the most?

    10. Ong Ah Heng
    11. Ong Kian Min
    12. Ong Seh Hong

    18 retiring + 2 passed away + 3 new seats = 23 vacancies

24 new candidates, but 1 will be going to Hougang.

  8. So that means the old man will still contest.

Therefore, no shock waves, no tsunami, no hidden climax.

  9. Thanks anon 1.00pm. So the picture is complete. And no more changes. So both lankies and shorties will stand. Then no more excitement to look forward to.

Any excitement can now come from the electorate.
