Latest technology in oil drilling

Has BP invented a new and cheaper way to drill for oil? The method is simple enough. Just plunge a hole in the sea bed and the oil will flow to the surface. Then apply a ring of vacuum cleaners and scoop up the oil into waiting tankers. Oil drilling has never been made easier.

  1. Yes, cheap method alright!

To the tune of 25 Billion plus in compensation, not to mention rendering the stock as junk and dragging the prestige and reputation of one of the "seven sisters" of the oil grouping to the pits.

  2. They may have to do the scooping for a long time.

By the way, another problem is disposing of the scooped up oil waste mixed with toxic dispersants in landfills. It actually spreads the pollution, first in the sea and coastline to the inner land areas that threatens the ground water.

  3. There is talk that the disaster in the Gulf will annihilate BP.

For interest sake, I wonder whether this will be another massive wipeout of our investments. We are a major shareholder in BP.

  4. It is another one in 50 years incident. Just too bad. We will review all our investment to make sure that it would not happen again.

The last time was due to the world financial crisis. But that is different. That one hits once in 1000 years. We have prepared for that and we won't be hit by another financial crisis.

  5. We always say we are prepared for this and that, but when incidents happen it is always the one thing we will say that we are caught unprepared. How come?

    How prepared are we really?

  6. Preparations naturally also include to expect the unexpected.
Accidents can happen and will happen and to be fair no one wants to be victim to any.

Me does not think BP has wished for the Mishap.

  7. Reading all the analysis and revelations about the Gulf incident gets more and more scary by the day.

Is this the beginning of the end in 2012 as some predicated.

  8. Ya man. What happens if the pressure is too great or the retainer valve/pipe too loose and the whole thing blow up and oil gushing out like the heavy rain in Orchard Rd? We will have a sea of oil!

  9. Actually this is trivial. Except for a few folks on the doomed rig, no one else has died.

The media keeps telling us this is a "disaster"...and they are getting beefed-up ad revenue because people can't take their eyes of the stupid TV. This is not a "disaster" lah --- false advertising.

I don't see mayhem or blood in the streets. And Obabma hasn't fucked it up much yet -- unlike Bush with Katrina... so Obabma has alot more catching up to do before I'll call this a "disaster".

And why hasn't anyone set fire to the oil? America is losing it's standards. These fuckers normally put on a spectacular show.

Damn it. I want my entertainment!
