A better use for Speakers Corner

We have just celebrated racial and religious harmony day after two incidents of religious leaders making insulting remarks at other religions and their practices. They have since repented and apologised for their wrongful acts, and hopefully they are sincere and would not do it again. I would like to suggest that anyone caught making disparaging remarks at other religions should be made to make an appearance at the Speakers Corner to explain his/her position and to make amends. This will inject more life to the sleepy corner of Hong Lim.

  1. It may liven up Speakers' Corner but it's just a slap on the wrist. Doesn't work.

The proper place for them to atone for the sins of their loose mouth, pea size brain and bigotry is to spend time in our state of the art, Changi Resort.

  2. Good proposal!

And all those chosen by their gods can prove in person at the Speakers Corner that their gods are truly divine and will protect them. That will be the best proof that they are the chosen ones.

Me hopes to meet some of them there.

  3. Khong Hee redbean.

You have found a good use for the Hong Lim white elephant. It is killing two birds with one stone - making good use of the space and shaming religious bigots.

Fuck? Are you serious? Thank you so much!

That's like a free kick to me...it means I get "invited" to explain myself and my opinions concerning religiosity as the last self-inflicted mental disorder afflicting our species.

BTW, I am an Equal Opportunity Offender -- I have no favourites or no special hatreds -- all institutions, mysticisms and nonsense in the popular culture, and race and culture get offended, disparaged, pissed on shat on, bukkake'd on.... EQUALLY.

Shit, if you're going to make enemies (or friends) do what is necessary to get the MAXIMUM number :P

  5. Ah, there are there to apologise for their mistakes and to promote racial and religious harmony. And all the believers of other religions will be there to share their views and they can all enlighten each other.

    Won't that be nice?

  6. Another good suggestion would be to use that as a place to burn effigies, since protest is not allowed elsewhere.

But, someone will probable make a lot of money selling effigies of popular people they hate. Are you thinking what I am thinking?

Internet shopping can be a booming business -- you have a larger than local market no extra cost.

However selling effigies over the internet can be problematic because -- like penises -- the effectiveness of an effigy is related to the size -- the bigger the effigy, the more the visual impact. Here is a large icon being hammered.

Thus, to actually have a hope of MAKING MONEY from a venture centred on the ridicule of a public figure, may I suggest you manufacture toilet paper with Lee Kuan Yew's (or any other one of the cunts deserving of being commemorated as an ass-wipe) picture on it -- here is an example.

  8. 'and they can all enlighten each other'

Not too sure whether that will happen sincerely or hypocritically? It will turn out to be something like the Workers Party enlightening the PAP and vice versa.

Hmmm, funny things bound to happen with funny suggestions.

  10. Hi Jaunty

My frank-spoken mother -- who I love dearly but can't possibly live with -- would tell you:

    "Don't encourage him!"

BUt I don't listen to her anyway, and am grateful for the compliment.
