Sunday, March 07, 2010 Temasek's recruiting spree at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IMM-C). This article is posted in Singapore News Alternative. And there is another article there by Seah Chiang Nee, More Grads join jobless queue, published in The Star. Putting the two articles side by side, what can one make out of it?

  1. Maybe the Indians teach their students some financial tricks that we have still not heard of.

Financial engineering is much like bio technology. You need research in specialized labs for the latter and these students must have proven to be good in doing research on hatching new fixes in the "labs" of the world's financial pillars.

Hmmmm............recruiting from the best at what they do sounds cool to me. What's the beef?

  2. Putting the two articles together spells doom and gloom for Singaporeans, the majority of whom, over forty odd years, have blind support for lightning and thunder.

Now they have it. In all its glory.

  3. Dear Mr. Chua, you seem rather anti Indian. It's good to have highly qualified immigrants to settle in Singapore, from anywhere. Rather than having unqualified immigrants from China and other Confucianist societies. Who End up here selling their pussies in Geylang, who don't wish to learn and speak English and integrate with other Singaporeans.Who expect WE Singaporeans to learn and speak their language. They can better F*&K back to China.

  4. No, you are wrong. The articles were printed in other blogs and media. The issue is about sacrificing local talents for foreign talents.

The recruits can be from China, US or America. We have this mindset that foreigners are good, or even foreign universities are good. And we are preferring graduates from universities that are ranked many many rungs below our world best NUS and NTU.

We might as well close down our local universities if we don't value their products.

  5. "The issue is about sacrificing local talents for foreign talents".

Yes the problem is the local talents are not CREATIVE and are not made to be GOOD LEADERS but EXCELLENT FOLLOWERS. We don't need that, we want good CREATIVE LEADERS who can intergrate with other races and cultures and communicate in a common universal language.

  6. Hi Skyhawk, Welcome to the blog.

We have this sick mentality of relying on foreign talents for our future growth. If this policy is the only way to go, China and India and Japan are doomed without foreign talents. And our local talents are doomed as they are seen as less worthy of foreign talents.

Unfortunately true foreign talents will not be attracted to come here. What we are getting is 3rd or 4th rate talents. Are these really better than ours? Ours all got straight A's, thousands of them. If we don't put them to good use, if we don't trust their ability, why are we crowing about how good is our educational system?

How come no foreign countries coming here to recruit our supertalents? Or maybe it is true, our straight A's are not even good enough and we need 3rd or 4th rate foreign talents to help us.

Or are we gambling that one of these young foreign talents may turn out to be Einstein or Bill Gates?

  8. "If this policy is the only way to go, China and India and Japan are doomed without foreign talents."

Not many people know that we are importing third rate low grade talents here by the planeloads and exporting true blue Singapore first rate talents to China and India to run corporations and train their administrators.
This exchange is not as stupid as it sounds. Our Singapore talents get exposure in overseas postings and enjoy the perks while the junk talents flocking here serve us in servile roles.

My only beef is that all these trash should not be given PR like sales personnel distributing leaflets at MRT stations.
