Singaporeans are crazy!!!

This post is not about being anti foreigners or PRs. It is about the crazy or mad people in Singapore. Everyday we are listening to sermons and lectures about how to take good care of foreigners, make them happy, accommodate them and welcome them into our lives. We need to be good, be kind and be generous to them, or else they will all go away. Singaporeans must not forget that charity begins at home. And for the govt, the first priority is to look after the well being of its citizens. Or is it? Should the priority be reversed and taking good care of foreigners comes first, and Singaporeans second? Enough is enough, and people should stop coddling and embracing foreigners like lovers or their saviours. It is the most stupid bullshit we are being spammed daily. What about us Singaporeans? If MPs think that it is their role to look after foreigners, to spend their precious time on how best to look after foreigners, let the foreigners vote for the MPs.

  1. They are mollycoddled because without them, the property market here will collapse like a deck of cards.

Between making them feel wanted and good and money in the bank. I rather choose the latter. Once they have sunk enough money here they can go to hell.

  2. Without foreigners Singapore will be doomed. Your MM, SM and PM already said so. Wally, you are a racist and a bigot. We may have come from some banana republic as you have put it, but at least we are happy and not like the unhappy and whinning lot you Singkies seem to be. If you think your country is so very good, then why are you always blogging and criticising your own govt policies? You should instead be very happy and proud with the current system. So, before you label other countries as banana republic, just look at your own. There are things that we have that you yearn for and of course there are good things you have that we would like to have.

  3. wally, you are too pragmatic and mean.

and anonymous, let's not make this a foreigner versus singaporean fight. there are pros and cons in both sides of the interpretation.

  4. Like it or not they( elite foreigners and PR, not FW) are protected here more than most nations around the world.

"Without foreigners Singapore will be doomed",this statement is a spin(plitcking) to make foreigners feel good and welcome, just as americans enbracing and praising LKY.

  5. Everyone is an individual.

Introducing words like 'foreigner' and 'PR' into political debates (which in themselves are pointless) makes a problem out of nothing.

Just because there are invisible lines drawn on a map doesn't mean it is right to divide human beings simply because of territory.

I fully support open borders: people should be able to freely come in and out of S'pore — as long as they don't act like violent criminals.

Singapore is a country founded on foreigners. Since it is an island someone had to GET THERE in the first place.

  6. you are right and wrong matilah. when the land is empty or under populated, all is welcomed. when we are filled to the brim, lets stop the craziness and welcome everyone. a ship will also sink when overloaded.

the fear by singaporeans is not about being anti foreigners but about when is enough or too many?

  7. redbean,

Your rebuttal of my position is no rebuttal at all -- not that I care all that much.

Nothing you or I say will alter the fact that as long as the borders are reasonably open -- and they are -- individuals will be free to enter and leave the territory according to their own individual wishes, and not because of what any of us think or what the government "prefers".

When you speak in collectivist terms you construct floating abstractions which are weak arguments because you do not concretise your ideas. For e.g.:

    > the fear by singaporeans <

-- this is a meaningless floting abstraction.

    * WHICH singaporeans in particular do you refer to?

    * How can you claim to speak with authority for ALL singaporeans? (presupposition based on the nature of your claim)

    * How can you be CERTAIN that the emotion these singaporeans you seem to be able to mind-read are feeling FEAR?

The link provided is for your erudition in the subtle art of argumentation, should you choose to perhaps... whatever.

    Logical Fallacies

    You're welcome.

  8. cyberspace should never be occupied by a crazy man.. that my conclusion.... becos a crazy man also think he is doing right. What he doesnt know is he needs a psychiatrist to understand why he think the free world have to listen to one crazy blogger.

The CS machinery knows what they are doing .. definitely this one crazy blogger think his opinion is higher and mightier when the reality he cannot see difference from mud vs clean water.

This is sign and symptoms sufficient to go consult a psychiatrist...
