World class standard
According to Geoffrey Lim of LTA, our train capacity is 1,600 or 4.9 passengers per square metre. This is lesser than 7 passengers in Tokyo. So we are better than Tokyo. Anyone try to imagine what it is like to stand 4.9 people in a one square meter box?
That is not my standard of world class transport. Can we set a standard of our own that we deem as comfortable or decent for our people instead of relying on other people's standard? I reckon that a decent standard should be 4 passsengers per square meter. That will save one from sharing the bad breath and body odour of the other person. And for the ladies, they will be spared the unintentional gropping or rubbing.
Let's set our own standard can? Let's show the world that we are a leader and we set what we think is good for us and the world.
You are never satisfied are you? We have one of the best and you still complain. Why don't you move to Bangkok and see what you get there? Leave if you cannot stand it here.
ReplyDeleteRedbean is entitled to his right to freedom of speech under our English common laws, what he is doing is legal, and should be accepted as such. There is no need and no legal basis to tell him to keep quiet or to leave. And, he's Singaporean. Singapore is a "first world oasis in a third world situation." No wonder, prices here are higher than in neighbouring countries. Ha Ha Ha
ReplyDeleteI think we should follow the standards of developed countries first, before evolving our own. Even that, is already a difficult task. Don't ask for too much beyond our own capacity to digest.
ReplyDeletedefining what is decent and comfortable riding a train is not rocket science and there is no need to wait for some nobel prize scientist to enlighten us. it is how much space we want to give ourselves for our own comfort that is at issue. you want 5 persons in a sq metre, 4 or 3? it is a matter of preference given the context of our society and culture.
ReplyDeleteWould they venture to compare capacity with European countries where the body size of the passengers are much larger than Singaporeans? I guess not, but then we should not always take Tokyo as a standard.
ReplyDeletein tokyo they all like to squeeze. cold weather and expensive perfume. and the commuters take their bath.
ReplyDeletehere, ooh lala. hot humid weather, don't bathe, eat spicy food...it is quite an experience standing too close to one another.
things hard to build, difficult to replace, and costly to substitute.
ReplyDeleteIt is move to make the Pizza Ordering experience more
convenient and fun for a large and fast growing population of Netizans
in India. The pizza is a style of Italian street food stuff that travelled around Europe
and round the Atlantic Ocean as well as reached America where by it became the most famous form of ready made meals in American heritage.
