I wrote earlier about dogs competing for space with human beans. I just come a cross an article in the Today paper reminding readers that it is an offence to abandon dogs. And the fine is $10k. Not a small sum to commit such a crime.
I am wondering whether there is a similar act for abandoning parents or children. Just wondering.
While we are going all out to protect the dogs, spare a thought for the human beans that are abandoned.
Well, Singapore is going to the dogs for sure, because some dogs are some women's loved ones. Ahem!
ReplyDeleteya, lets all love the dogs.
ReplyDeleteThere's an easy (market) solution to dog abandonment:
ReplyDeleteSet up a restaurant which serves dishes made from dog-meat, and offer to buy unwanted dogs from people.
You will find the problem diminish overnight.
There is no problem with abandoned children - the queue of couples around the world waiting for adoption is ever growing.
There is also no problem with abandoned people. All they have to do is to go to any temple, church or any other aid agency and there'll be people who would be only too happy to help them.
However for lasting "success" we all need to "want to" improve our circumstance. Having a "victim mentality" only makes things worse.
Unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, you can never help solve the problems of someone with a "victim mentality", until they themselves make a change - by CHOICE.
