Passing of an era

The golden years are slipping away. We are seeing the passing of the last leader of an era. LKY had just given a lecture in Saudi Arabia to share his wisdom, and for the intelligentsia to tap his knowledge. He is the last leader who thrives in adversity and transformed this island to a city state of distinction. Sadly, we are not seeing another man to fit that role. We have many leaders but none come close. None will be invited by an international audience to share his intellect. None has achieved the stature and distinction that LKY has achieved. He was and still is the leader of this city state. Our administrator type of leaders are good and excellent civil servants, making outstanding employees. Probably a product of a system that hinders the production of leaders. Men, no matter how able, who wait to be called, are not leaders. Leaders, especially of a nation, must stand out and lead on his own. We don't have that kind of leadership for the last 20 years. The golden years will still glow and glitter for a few more years before they fade away. Unless we have another shining leader to assume the kind of leadership to lead the people, not administer the people the way we are doing. Not telling the people, and not compelling the people by legislation to get going.

  1. Other than his family and cronies, I doubt many other Sinkies will be lamenting his passing. To me it will simply be good riddance to bad garbage. 'nuff said.

  2. You mean that his son is not great enough?

When Senior Lee was looking for the next prime minister, he said he searched extensively within the entire Singapore for one to replace him and after an exhaustive search, he realised that his son is the bestest choice after all.

I was so impressed with such a effort. He really hunted for the next leader of Singapore. For a moment, I thought that he was just passing the baton to his son, as in any dynasty. How silly was I then.

LKY is definitely a great leader, he knows the right methods to lead in his unique style.

  3. You are right, redbean. Currently most countries have some respect for Singapore because of the MM, and some other countries tolerate the rubbish coming out of his cheebye mouth because of his stature on the world stage. When he bites the dust, Singapore will truly be put in its right ful place, ie as an insignificant speck of dust on the Equator. It will be interesting to see then which countries we thought were friends remaining as our friends.

  4. Asia in general, and SE Asia in particular is the best place in the world to be a dictator — you even get "respect" from the west, investments from multi-nationals, bailouts from the IMF and World Bank if you happen to collapse the economy of your enslaved nation because you and your corrupt cronies plundered the country foolishly "entrusted" to you by the ignorant and easily duped Sheeple.

"Leader" in the SE Asian context means you have permission to fuck the people out of their property and liberty, and throw the fuckers who oppose you into jail, or if they really piss you off, exile or murder them. Marcos, Soekarno, Suharto, Thaksin, Pol Pot, the military junta in Burma... have all used the "justice" system in their respective cuntries to silence people, scare them into "obedience", control the press and the academics at tertiary institutions and corrupt the political systems.

LKY, however is the SMARTEST of all of them. Imagine, when the others were plundering their cuntries, LKY gets policies passed to "legally" pay his main ball-lickers fat salaries. He (and his cronies) formed "companies" like the GIC (who are accountable to no one) and Temasek who is still accountable to no one, despite "opening its books" only recently.

I will crack open a bottle of champagne when the old cunt goes. On my return to S'pore, I will seek out his grave and piss on it. I'm bringing something to read while I wait, because I anticipate a very long queue at the gravesite.

This "dynasty" shit will never work. Even those who think it will work, deep down know that it is fraught with contradictions.

But can I blame the Lee Dynasty - totally? Of course not. It is the people of S'pore who have ALLOWED and to a great extent MADE IT turn out this way.

The People always get the "leader" (and hence the government) they deserve.

I might tekan the intelligence of S'poreans now and then, simply because many of them ARE intelligent.

But when I look to those inbreds up north, I observe that generations of in-breeding have produced off-spring who are definitely NOT intelligent.

    That's just my Pastafarian opinion.

matilah, got to amend this. religion is sensitive.

  7. Actually, quite the contrary. People who claim to be "religious" are usually insensitive to others and don't hesitate to ram their beliefs upon the unsuspecting. Resorting to killing non-believers is not out of the ordinary.

Every religion is whacked-out, and every follower a wacko - varying only in degree of "craziness". With the exception of course of The Pastafarians -- we are the only true religion, and our God -- the Flying Spagetti Monster is the only true God of the universe.

I understand you have to comply with "regulations" in S'pore. (fuck the government, by the way)

However I didn't think removing the Pastafariqn link was necessary, so here it is again.
