Singaporeans highest paid workers in the world...soon

At the rate that we are going, Singaporean workers will soon become the highest paid in the world. Starting from a top down approach, the richness of the rich will soon filter down as we work towards closing the income gap. If employees in the top bracket are earning $4m or more, and if the gap is 1:100, then the lowest paid workers should be getting $40k. Now this must be good. And they need to earn this amount to keep pace with the galloping away cost of living. Every thing is up. So worker's income must also up. Or else how are they going to survive? And the world will envy us and all the workers, especially the talented ones, will be queuing up to work here. We will become the best in everything.

  1. No wonder they tell us that increasing minister's salary is for the good of the citizens and GST is to help the poor. Your explanation of the filter down effect is comforting.

Everybody with a conscience can now sleep peacefully, knowing that the rich are helping the poor by taking the lead with their own increments.

I was on the verge of shouting 'more good years' and 'a city of possibilities'.

  3. They were damn silly to give themselves a raise. It only breeds more contempt—even amongst the wealthier S'poreans.

    Check this out:

    Sink A Poor

It seems that this is a "The Govt Fucks Yew" weekend, in S'pore and Thailand. The Thais go to the polls tomorrow and Sunday and according to Thai law, no alcohol is allowed to be sold or consumed the day before the election, and during the election period.

That means the entire country goes DRY as a nun's cunt from 6pm today until midnight on Sunday.

Lucky I stocked up on my sacred tequila :-) Why not? Why should I be penalised by the fucking govt? I don't vote here! (or anywhere for that matter)

My distaste for government's is universal. You can go anywhere on this planet, and every government is made up of wankers. May that be some consolation to money-bled S'poreans... you can run away to another cuntry, but you'll never escape the evil talons of The State!

  4. wankers or not i don't mind being scolded by matilah if i can get $1m. no need for 3 or 4 mil.

$1 mil a year! shit, what shall i do to justify that kind of money?

  5. Sorry lah. I don't want to come across like some preacher taking the "moral high ground", but I like to earn my money fairly and honestly, by demand-driven production and voluntary trade not by forcing it out of people (extortion) or by stealing—like what people who work for The State do. The amount of money doesn't matter.

Given the vibrant market economy and the widespread division of labour, it's not that difficult for anyone with reasonable abilities and a good attitude to be reasonably comfortable and financially secure—there is really no need to resort to (what I consider to be)immoral behaviour.

I sleep better each night with a clear conscience.

IMO everyone who is on the public payroll is essentially a thief.

  6. --> no one will be left behind.

If you are not an elite, you are no one. The elites say no one will be left behind. So no ones, prepare to be left behind.

  8. That's why we have to take slogans with a pinch of salt. Singaporeans love slogans, particularly such gems as:

"More good years". Only they did not make clear good for who.

"GST is to help the poor". Yes to help the poor become poorer.

"City of possibilities". Oh yes, anything is possible for the elites but not for ordinary Singaporeans.

  9. In 1984 Orwell mentions the use of slogans used to infect the consciousness of the intellectually somnolent population.

The technique is hardly new. The ad industry has been using the same methods to flog mechandise of questionable quality and value. The result is people buying stuff (sometimes going into debt) which they don't need, and can't afford.

The reason slogans work so well is because most people don't live with a burning "life's purpose", anchored solidly to their OWN values and beliefs, so they are always "looking for something" in the external world to fill the void. This makes them susceptible to suggestion.
