Cries for better TV programmes
Did I hear cries for better quality programmes on local TV? Why should that be when great qualities were promised when SBC was privatised? How could that be when greater programmes were promised when the two stations were merged?
These people must be joking. I mean the viewers. Haven't they heard of the fascinating and popular super talents and superstars, even kiddy idols that were drawing the crowds of mummies and kindergarten children glued to the programmes? And we have all the TV awards programmes of the past being rerun for the viewers to enjoy their second or third viewing of the Price of Peace, or what, sorry can't remember any of them.
And for those who want better quality programmes, they can go to MobTV, with the likes of I yoyo or programmes starring Zoe Tay and Li Nanxing, our equivalent of international movie stars. Those who can afford can pay a little more for cable tv too.
I think Singaporeans are spoilt for choice for quality programmes. And Ling Pek Ling of MDA has said that with such a wide variety of good programmes and competition, there is no need for satellite TVs.
After flipping through some of the Taiwanese comedies from some Jacky something and our famous, who's that Jack Neo's side kick, and Gurmit Singh, and the gang, Singaporeans are all laughing in stitches everyday. It is a laughing paradise. Only problem with me is that my perception of beauty and good look has changed quite dramatically.
A little confession. The only programmes I watch are the news programmes. The rest, can be quite provocative to the mind. Never want to have nightmares.
The objective of those super talents etc whatever you call it,
ReplyDeleteis to entice people to vote through SMS thus generating more income for Singtel etc. Nowadays almost every reality TV programme offer prizes to entice viewers to SMS their vote. So the more often you have those shows the better, thus they seemed to have one supersomething after another.
Wide variety of programmes my foot.
And we are paying good TV licence fees for that kind of programming standards!
ReplyDeleteMonopoly means improve for what?

ReplyDeleteIf they legalise satelite dishes, then i won't have to watch the shows they provide -_-
ReplyDeleteI supposed its all in the name of national security...

ReplyDeleteRecently so many super idol, dancing competition (US copycats)
programmes & charity show(Ren ri, Tao Kao, kdf etc)
& too many commercial adv. as well, seen like Mediacrop & Singtel are making a lot money, too commercial & too little own creativity programme & their artists majorities are handling idling waste their talent just to put monkeys act on charity show.
I think MediaCrop topmanagement got to completely changed inorder to draw back our attention.
No need to change or do anything, that's what monopoly is convenient.
ReplyDeleteI think MediaCrop topmanagement got to completely changed inorder to draw back our attention.
ReplyDeleteI think u folks barking up the wrong tree sph and mediacorp are highly protected national instituitions. stay far away!
There is really only 1 problem with mediacorp, and that problem is with the programming team. Need to go to the heart of the matter to understd why there are so many dissatisfied kakis.
ReplyDeletewhat the people probably need is one good programme for the more sober adults, one that can replace the need for viagra, one for all the aunties, one for sports fans and one or two for kiddies in the evening.
ReplyDeletei have seen crazy programming when they put out several movies on a holiday expecting everyone to stay home to watch a tv marathon.
And a whole lot of second-rated re-runs of movies at that.
ReplyDeletePay peanuts U get monkeys la, brudder!

Monolpoly that's why!:)
ReplyDeleteHow come many countries dont charge TV licence fees why our TV got no money ah? Got charge licence fees then no need to give good programmes ah? If got give why everyone still unhappy?
ReplyDeleteStill monopoly and still that's why.
ReplyDeletethe price of used drink cans may go up also. good for auntie.
ReplyDeletewe must also do things uniquely, like paying for our official tv programmes for official news and carefully chosen programmes to keep us healthy.
i kind of suspect the low potency rate of our men, which also led to the low birth rate, could be contributed by our goody goody programmes. if the objective is to turn this into a monk country, we are doing very well.
MediaCock shld add in more X-rayed progammes during saturday mid-night so I think it will definetly help to bull up birth rates & reduce medical fees also if not maybe in near future we might need to go to batam, bintan or JB to give birth.
ReplyDeleteJust share with you quys, I just recieved an blooket adv. regarding the old ages homes & it icluded JB old ages home as well, s'pore cost S$900 & JB cost R$900 so you see a difference.
I think our hell minister may already implemented & tied up with Malaysia regarding our old ages retirement villages.
Therefore, i advice all s'gporean get prepared yourself to send out of this costly small dot island when we get old & unproductivity, die lah isn't it.
