'US has less time for Asia' Derwin Pereira, US Bureau Chief reported this from Dallas during LKY's recent visit to the US. 'He(LKY) also noted that with the Bush administration focused on Iraq, Afganistan, Iran and Islamic terrorism, Washington has less time for Asia now.' I have to disagree with this statement after seeing Rice's East Asian tour on the North Korean crisis and her conviction and dedication to take the war to the North Koreans. She is devoting one whole week to put pressure on all the East Asia states to provoke the North Koreans. Is that not time for Asia? The preparation and number of state officials involved in this trip must be enormous. Thanks to the North Koreans, East Asia is getting some of the US attention. Would the US bite off more than they can chew? Looking at Iraq itself, it seems that Iraq alone is too hard to swallow.

  1. I believe this is just North Korean's trick. It is temporary pretending to suspend the programme because the launch has faced some failures which it need to "say that it will stop programme to test nuclear" in order to rectify the test failure, and then will continue its destructive campaign.

Is this decoy ?? Yes, from my view, because North Korean say it stop the nuclear programme but does not indicates indefinitely, the most likely is that it stop for time being to find the cause of failure, and this temporary relief and lie buy them some time. After that life as usual for them.

Think about that, a country so isolated from rest of world spending billions on nuclear and then due to minor test failure give up the programme ???? Only clowns will believe that. NK know that US election is coming soon and George Bush is focus on campaigning, and sure, US ppl are tired of war. Once Bush is removed, NK will likely to continue the real Weapon of Mass Destruction.

I fear another round of recession is coming sooooooon.....

  2. my views may tend to be very cynical about american adventurism. i would post the same thing if i look at the world from the american perspective. anything for the americans is good, anything against the americans is bad.

i try to look at things from the opposite side as views from that angle is missing in most forums.

the north koreans are pretending as much as the americans. and the americans are not tired of war. what rice was doing the whole of last week is to provoke a war in east asia.

as a singaporean, i try to look at things that favours us. and it is good for the americans and the rest of the world to be squabbling and killing each other as long as we are not involved.

we can speak or pretend to speak for the americans. but we should not over expose ourselves and warrant a nuclear missile from the north koreans to point at us. then we will be really stupid. asking for trouble when trouble is not our concern.

let the big boys play their game of oneupmanship or chicken.

  3. RedBean,
Unfortunately, the globalization issue although benefit the growth of economy, is also turning the world into more realistic and depressing society. What benefit one country actually create job-loss in another. It is a situation of you win and I lose or vice versa kind. Just like a game, there always must be a winner and a loser, no such thing as win-win situation.

In the end, I believe All MEN for themselves applied.

It might be cruel but it is the way of life.

I believe most american are tired of war. Afterall American soldier fight the war not George Bush. The American soldiers friends I have are just as humane as well and want to live peacefully with their family. Afterall, which parent or oneself want to see their life end so soon or feel gulity killing innocent ppl ????

This Iraqi war is just a history of Vietnam war where soldier get tired of fighting and just call it quit at end of day.

  5. the win win concept does not apply all the time. when manufacturers are free to move their operations anywhere, the lowest bidder will get the job.

only in a protected environment can people determine how much to pay themselves and from opm.
