'131th saddest nation'
How can that be, we the 131th saddest country in the world? We are so rich, so smart, so first class, number one this and that, and so happy. Who did that survey?
We are going to prove the survery wrong. Come Sept, all 4 million Singaporeans will be smiling. We are going to show to the world that we are a happy country with 4 million happy smiles. I think that should do the trick to dispel the myth that we are a sad country.
There is such a phrase as "smile in sadness". smile does not always imply happy. it could be a smile of acceptance of status as a slave of the pappies.
ReplyDelete4 million Singaporeans ? U mean all the Banglas working at the construction sites and Pinoy domestic helpers have now become citizens ?
ReplyDeletewhy are you fellas so negative, huh? smile must be smile in sadness meh? can't i say, 'smile, say cheese,' then snap? that's what photographers say and do, and you get a smiling picture to show.
ReplyDeletethere are two kinds of singaporeans, those who have to do national service, those who don't. and all 4 millions of them. everyone counts.
what, with all those who have to do national service running away or thinking of running away, eventually singapore would have to depend on those who don't need to serve national service for our survival. better treat them well.
all the ungrateful singaporeans are quitters. let them go if they want to. all whiners and troublemakers.
Does the 4 million include those on death row in Changi Hotel ? What ahve they got to smile about ?
ReplyDeletehey anonymous,
ReplyDeletedon't be like that lah. you nitpick until changi prison, afterwards woodbridge also cannot.
this can give people a lot of headache. 4 million singaporeans is only a generalisation. ok i will ask them to change it to 4 million residents of singapore. like that feel better or not?
i can't remember if they mentioned singaporeans or just 4 million smiles.
some of the residents of IMH are always smiling, mah. that proves that you can smile yet not know why you're smiling.
ReplyDeletei don't know, but i think the objective of 4 million smiles is to make the visitors from imf feel that they are welcomed here and we are all friendly and nice people.
ReplyDeleteit is not really about happiness. if people can be happy just by a smiling face, then we can create instant happiness.
Such shallowness can only be found in Singapore. Get some of the IMF delegates to take a ride on the MRT and they will soon see how uncouth and rude Singaporeans can be.
ReplyDeletewhat a suggestion!
ReplyDeletefrom 4 million smiles to 2 million grumpy commuters!
For all of Singapore's exhortations of itself as a first world or developed country, the reality is it is nothing more than a country made up of third world people with third world mentality dolled up with first world facade. Pretense is the name of the game.
ReplyDeleteas they say, you can take the villager out of the village but you can never take the village out of the villager. hardly surprising considering 75% of the population of Singapore are descendants of uncouth chinese peasants.
ReplyDeletethe people needs to be led. and we have brilliant leaders to lead us, think for us, plan for us and also tell us when to smile when to be happy.
ReplyDeletelife is so simple for simpleporeans : )
