attacking thaksin developing into attacking singapore
the strongest anti singapore attack came from a prof phuwado songprasert of kasetsart university. he led the attack on singapore/temasek's investments in thailand as if singapore is out to manipulate thai politics, and the politics of asean. such is the possibility of how some groups of anti singapore activists in other countries could do to achieve their private agenda. like it or not, there are always such elements who for whatever reasons, will attack singapore given an opportunity. we have friends, but also enemies hiding in little corners.
phuwado even asserted that singaporean investors were disliked in malaysia and indonesia, trying to inflame more hatred towards singaporeans as if it is a norm. if the demonstration does not end swiftly, there is always a high probability that singapore will end up as a dart board. and all the goodwill developed will go to waste and we have to start all over again.
we have counted on other countries that could be riled by the slightest reasons, but not thailand. a land of smiles and lesser historical baggages. and so far no one in thailand is trying to douse this flame and incense. would all these turn into a popular backlash against singapore, with demonstrators stoning or storming our embassy and investments? the potential for volatility is always there, and waiting to be fanned into a firestorm.
As I have told you.
ReplyDeleteSingapore doesn't want Thaksin to fall.
But if Singapore is very smart in politics... the Thai King should have opened the mouth and ask Thaksin to step down.
The opposition should take the offer from Thaksin and fight head on with him. Even if Thaksin stays, he'd be hell of a weakened, and opposition can always rally more rounds against Thaksin. :D
Interesting.
by calling for a new election, thaksin has effectively stepped down. now it is for the people to decide, for democracy to play its role.
ReplyDeletebut it seems that the opposition to thaksin does not believe in democracy. they believed that they should decide who should run thailand. and that is no good.
I kinda suspect that it's Singapore which suggest the snap poll to Thaksin.
ReplyDeleteBut whichever the way, the opposition should make use of this chance to place more candidates into the parliament, and continues rallying against Thaksin on the call of '...more people need to realise Thailand's peril with Thaksin...'.
If the opposition does not take up polling, Thaksin will legitimately declare full winner with an entire parliament full of his people, and he can go all out to kill and control the civil servants, including the courts. Unless the Thai military and King side with oppositions, without heading in to challenge in the poll issued by Thaksin himself now when sentiments against Thaksin is growing, oppositions will be stuck and the course of history will change.
So the opposition is got only one choice, make use of the wave and grab as much power as possible, and continue to push out Thaksin from there and hereby turning Thaksin's call into his own downfall.
It is a very idiotic thing to do when sentiment is high against one and that one calls for a snap poll in the middle of the decline.
This is also the time if oppositon took up the challenge, Thaksin's remaining allies will start to feel unstable instead. And oppositon will become seen to be a viable replacement, hereby spelling Thaksin's doom.
But here, is their opposition wise enough...
But here, if Thaksin falls, the opposition's next target will have to be directly Singapore because they will need a lameduck to settle the political clout to such high sentiment lest those people start to doubt the opposition.
See? It's simple political struggle.
Singapore will have its time sooner or later. Now, it all depends on who is advising who in this struggle.
If the oppositions is as naive as Mr Lim Chin Siong and believe solely on people's power... then Amitaba...
Take Thaksin on NOW, fools! The earlier the better! Don't reconcile with Thaksin~ Take the challenge and even the military will come to you!
There will be a need to explain why the allies will fill unsteady...
ReplyDeleteBecause those allies in this interest group would probably be those with high private interest and affairs unexposed in the same manner of Thaksin's...
If nothing goes wrong, Thaksin is finished.
There is no need to bother about democracy... I said all these with no democracy in mind but of a practical political struggle mentality, which is worth a regime. :D
It's never the textbook that matters... it's always the minds that wrote history that matters.
elfred, it is a big show to watch.
ReplyDeletebut the changes, if the king gets involved, could lead to dramatic changes. though the thais revere their king, the king shall not push his luck too far.
The King has missed its hard-to-get chance to establish his power... So forget about him, he'd at most be a complementary in this episode.
ReplyDeleteThe random now is Thaksin's remaining allies... Once oppositions take the hard stance against Thaksin and take the challenge... in order to protect themselves, those allies will switch sides and more secret released against Thaksin. Now the issue is, those opposition should know at such crucial moment, they don't have the leisure to slow slow play.
Assert the pressure now and Thaksin is finished. You may even see mass-convert due to self-protectionistic approach...
Businessmen... what do they care? Hahahahaha...
But then, the opposition might be quite confused at crucial point. Thaksin is gambling naked big time. He can only pray Thai politicians are as idealistic as our own. :D
Alamak. I have a feeling this will blow over, and things return to normal "mai pen lai" "chai yen yen" Thai style.
ReplyDeleteKap khun kaa...
sure it will blow over. everything will be blown over when the time comes.
ReplyDeletethe king is revered when he is above politics. when he is involved in politics, it will be his day of reckoning.
those who live by the sword dies by the sword.
mai pen lai. how about lum song song?
