DBS should duplicate this successful formula in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and other ASEAN countries, and there will be successful DBS Bank Malaysia, DBS Bank Indonesia, DBS Bank Thailand, DBS Bank Philippines etc etc.
The formula's success is based on the complete trust for the locals to run the bank by themselves, have confidence in the locals to do a good job and with Singaporeans overseeing the operations from Singapore head office. The motto, trust them. And the local govts will be very happy to support such banks as they not only provide good jobs for their nationals, and also a good and reliable bank like DBS, the world best bank with best practices with a lot of money to back them up.
The same formula and logic should apply to all foreign banks in Singapore so that all will be as profitable as DBS bank India. All foreign banks, starting with Bank of India, shall replace all their Indian nationals with Singaporeans. Oops, no talent Singapore did not have enough people to fill banking and finance jobs. Singaporeans also don't like these jobs, especially CEOs of banks. So how? Easy, just issue more pink ICs to foreign talents from third world villages. They will be the talents to fill up all the top banking and finance jobs in Singapore. QED.
Careful. Being too successful in India means ripe for takeover.
ReplyDeleteWith Indians from top to bottom, oredy taken over.
ReplyDeleteName not yet changed to Development Bank of India. Coming soon.
DeleteName change is so easy. Ask Trump. Just twit will do.
DeleteKarma is coming.
DeleteNo need change name. Then the daft would not know being taken over. Think reporting profit is real, just like reporting losses by Air India is real.
ReplyDeleteWhen all their money are in the hands of Indians....in India....knn.
ReplyDeleteSpore bank in India must be run by Indians, Indian banks in Spore no need to be run by Singaporeans.
ReplyDeleteSmell like CECA, no Singaporeans want to work in India but millions of Indians pouring into Spore under CECA.
What a silly agreement.
China can learn from DBS, give India a few billions to start a Bank of China, India and let the Indians play with their money. Trust the Indians.
ReplyDeleteYou think the Chinese are still stupid. Indonesia tried to take over the nickel processing plant, and the Chinese rather demolished it than hand it over.

ReplyDeleteIndian's got airs as shot down by Gou
DBS = Development Bank of Sindia. Don't be surprise if one day it also ask for billion like Air India from Sillyporean.
ReplyDeleteI thought DBS stands for 'Damn Bloody Stupid'.
DeleteWho give DBS Bank India to India?
ReplyDeleteThey do not have to be given. They just take.
DeleteTrump is setting all the example.
DeleteAir India is losing lots of Singaporean taxpayers' money . . .
ReplyDeleteGoh Keng Swee would cut off the balls of the idiot that allowed this to happen. Only the very dense or hopelessly naïve would put money into the Indians' pocket and think of getting it back.
ReplyDeleteEven when offered 40% ownership of Air India in its early years, LKY was not persuaded when he realized majority control still rests with the Indian side and his understanding of Indian bureaucracy and way of doing business was not optimistic. How SIA got into the 25.1% deal is an even worse case scenario as far as running Air India is concerned. No voice, no power to decide and just pouring money into a black hole.
DeleteIndia has two good catch in DBS and SIA. Maybe oso Temasek and GIC, plenty of easy money to milk. LKY must be turning in his grave.
ReplyDeleteIf India can turn these four biggies into its ATM, Singapore's reserves will be in grave danger. Without LKY to say no and stop the bleeding...no one else can. The Indians will be laughing themselves crazy to the bank, free money for their taking.
ReplyDeleteIt is already too late. You do not get out safely from a snake pit.
DeleteMaybe all them r now our own people.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Singaporeans are not complaining, it is a signal that more OPM can be dumped into the black hole as they are called loooonng term investment, meaning no accountability or judgement until all the people responsible for it have left or died. And better still, DBS Bank India is reporting profit every year.
