Singapore has found a winner in India's new tech. The future is very bright for Singapore Indian cooperation.

Asia’s EVolution: As EV makers seek to cut reliance on rare earths, made-in-India solutions gain traction

This instalment of CNA’s series on the forces powering electric vehicles (EVs) in Asia examines India’s growing presence in the development of rare-earth-free motors, and the speed bumps facing wider adoption.

SINGAPORE: Electric vehicle (EV) makers are accelerating efforts to cut their reliance on rare-earth magnets after recent supply shocks exposed vulnerabilities in the industry, say analysts.

The shift is driving a broader rethink of motor design, as companies explore alternatives that can lower costs and reduce geopolitical risk tied to concentrated supply chains.

Indian automakers and suppliers are making inroads in this space, with several firms telling CNA how they are already testing or deploying rare-earth-free motor solutions across different segments.

Still, experts say India’s edge lies less in technological breakthroughs and more in its market conditions - scale, cost-conscious consumers and a localisation push.

At the same time, industry watchers and players point out that the transition is likely to be gradual, as automakers weigh whether alternative designs can match conventional motors on cost, efficiency and reliability.  CNA

Singapore's trust and faith in India becoming the next technological giant is shining brighter. Singapore's gamble in India overtaking China and America is vindicated. India has come up with a new technology for EVs that do not need rare earth, using rare earth free motors. This is a great Indian revolution. Can expect Singapore to pour in more money into India to make this invention real. Never underestimate Singapore's talents in picking winners. India is the bright spark of the 21st Century and Singapore is going to be the biggest winner. (Don't laugh if I tell you this secret. All the old cars built in the past were using rare earth free motors. No need to reinvent the wheel.)

Well done India. Well done Singapore. Your gamble has paid off. Hope this motor can come online, mass production quickly to make India the envy of the world and make Singapore very rich, and praises for those that believed in Indian technology as the future. Dunno what India is replacing rare earth with to do the trick. What can be cheaper and perform better than rare earth? Definitely not hot air.

China's EV and rare earth industries will be history. China is in deep deep trouble. Can expect the main media to pour more cold water on Chinese EVs. Stop buying Chinese EVs, wait to buy Indian EVs with rare earth free motors. Caveat, got to wait for the Indian trick to turn into reality. But it is alright to count the chicken before they are hatched. Champagne for everyone. CNA is celebrating the good news. Everyone is on a new high hearing this wonderful news. Wait for more elites to join in the song and dance. I told you, I told you, India is the future. Our money is safe.

PS. Anyone know why go through all the complex and difficult processes to get rare earths? Why not use normal earth or cow dung or shit straight from the ground?

  1. If this technology is so great, Malaysia's Proton should go back to make cars using Mitsubishi engines with rare earth free motors.

  2. Whatever articles that appear in Shit/Cna and wrote by it own correspondence, there is always a subtle message behind it. In this case, it imply that we must be prepared to loose some "small" money in Modiland. There was also an articles that Modiland is producing more graduate that available jobs. So, be prepared for more graduate from Modiland coming over to help us create more jobs for sillyporean.

  4. The best vehicle is the bullock cart with a cow in front. No need rare earth, no need motor, no need engine, no need petrol. Efficient, clean and no pollution. Oops, watch out for cow dung.

  5. Non rare earth magnets mean they are the conventional iron nitride magnets which have been around for yonks. Rare earth magnets are up to 10 times more powerful for a particular size.
India should upgrade their bullock carts with horse carts.

  6. Just cross my mind. No mystery about what is going to replace rare earth for EVs. It is cow dung, and India has so many cows that can produce the ingredients to make EV motors. Singapore may yet be rearing cows as the new growth sector to go into. Even building high-rise cowsheds with all the limited land. Hope Singaporeans do not mind the holy perfume when the wind blows, but it is all for the good of the country. Soon, people will be queuing to buy cows instead of gold for investments.

Hope I am not running too wild with enthusiasm.

  7. We know all about Indian movies made in Bollywood. The must be a song and dance segment to make a short story long. If Hollywood could not find new magnets to counter rare earth, do we honestly believe Bollywood can do it?

  8. Probably India using snake piper technology, just blow the trumpet the mm ade in India EV will just float & fly off by itself, even can self navigate & fly like Aladdin magical carpet..wow..looks like MII product boleh lieo.

  9. Singapore must not lose time, must jump onto the bandwagon by setting up a research institute here to research this exciting new technology. Populate it with talent from India. The future will be bright and exciting!

  10. India is the top semicon manufacturer making high end 180nm chips. Singapore can negotiate to transfer this technology and manufacture it here.
