Trump took centre stage in the signing of the Peace Agreement between Thailand and Cambodia like he was the real peace maker. This would be something Trump can crow about and to demand for a Nobel Peace Prize next year. All the attention was on Trump with a lot of good words put in by ASEAN leaders on the important role played by Trump, or fictitious role played by Trump in securing this Peace Agreement.
Everyone in ASEAN knows how much work Anwar and Malaysia had put in to bring the Thais and Cambodians together, to put aside their difference to return to peace in their borders. Many meetings and phone calls were made in the process.
Similarly, China was a major player in hosting the two parties to meet in Beijing in several rounds of talks to bring about peace between the two countries. The amount of ground works and personnel involved to keep the peace negotiation process is more than just a phone call from across the Pacific Ocean in Washington. Trump did not set foot in the region, the Americans were on the sideline watching, maybe even fanning the conflict between the two adversarial states. Everyone knows who would benefit from the conflict and who would likely be the cause behind the conflict.
ASEAN leaders ware fully aware of the situation and the masterminds behind the conflict. This is the main reason why the Thais and Cambodians were eager to stop the conflict, not wanting to end up as pawns to outside powers and turn the region into another war zone. They also know how Trump is craving for attention and the spotlight and wanted to be seen as a peacemaker. To make this clown happy, they simply played around with him, fooled him into believing that it was all because of Trump that peace return to the Thai Cambodia border. ASEAN has nothing to lose to flatter the ego of Trump and make him happy for a few days. A happy Trump is definitely good for ASEAN even if it is just a hoax. Trump probably knew what was going on but was just as happy with the staged play with him as the main actor getting all the attention. Malaysia and China did all the donkey work for the clown to stand in the spotlight.
It does not take much to make a clown happy and for the clown not to come back and bite them.
Normal way to make a clown happy is laughing at him for his antics.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely correct, after making Trump happy, hopefully he will reduce the tariff for the region. If after he meet Xi and didn't get what he wanted, then he may turn around and slap more tariff on Asean or ask it leader to sanction China. Then that would be the biggest Slap ever on Asean leaders.

Malaysia has to buy expensive LNG from the orange bankrupt, when Malaysia is one of the top producers and exporters of LNG. Then Malaysia has to buy Boeing planes when everyone else is avoiding these death traps. Plus coal???

Typical con artist giving a little at first before going in for the kill with the deal estimated to cost Malaysia RM1 trillion. Anwar’s little deal makes Najis's 1MDB con job look like loose change. Malaysia will be bankrupted by Anwar.
Anwar will get a taste of the master conman, the six times bankrupt.
