The Taliban said no to gangster Trump!
When Trump stopped Nvidia from selling chips to China, Xi could not do a thing.
When Trump stopped ASML from selling EUV machine to China, again Xi could not do a thing.
And when Trump stop American companies from selling chips to Huawei, Huawei's mobile phone business almost collapsed, and again Xi could not do a thing. Chinese companies that needed Nvidia chips, companies that needed EUV machine were caught with their pants down, many operations had to be halted as a result. This is how powerful Trump is and how he used his power to manage and control China.
Trump is now throwing his weight around, telling China he wants to buy TikTok, and China must sell. Even before the paper is inked, Trump is already gloating and crowing about how he pressured Xi to sell TikTok, and Washington is bragging about Xi caving in. Trump is the all powerful Emperor. Whatever he wants, even Xi cannot say no. But the Taliban can.
Why don't Xi, after being slapped by Trump so often, so many times, take this opportunity to return a tight slap to Trump, to make him look as bad as he did to Xi in the eyes of the Americans, by saying no to the sale of TikTok? Or is Xi still thinking that Trump and the Americans are very nice people and would not harm China anymore if he agrees to sell TikTok, and China and US will be friends again? Would anyone trust Trump and the evil Americans?
The few episodes mentioned above made Xi looked very bad. Trump is sitting on him and he can only say yes, not no. This kind of one sided relationship, with Trump calling the shot, is bad for China and for Xi.
Would China come up with all the lame excuses like Ah Q and sell TikTok to Trump to make Trump happy because Trump called Xi a good friend...and Xi cannot do anything under pressure from Trump but to say yes?
Has Xi agreed?
ReplyDeleteIf Tik Tok is already agreed and a done deal, why need another 90 days grace according to Jerry.
DeleteIt is not as if Byte Dance is selling the whole Global Tik Tok operation to the USA. Only the operations in the USA is on the table.
DeleteAll the deals that Trump touted about are just bogus grandstanding, nothing realistic.
DeleteOn the other hand, most major USA apps like Google are banned in China. So, it is just a matter of tit for tat I suppose. Byte Dance may just take the US$14 billion and laugh its way to the bank. It still controls the Algorithms outside of the USA, whatever the USA wants to do with it in the country.
DeleteTrump blocks Nvidia's chips sale to China earlier, so China blocks Nvidia sales in China later, telling Chinese manufacturing not to accept H20 chips totaling several US$ billions in value.

ReplyDeleteJerry's take on China Trade Talks, Tik Tok and Rare Earths
When Trump banned Nvdia chips and EUV from China, he did not care about profit or business interests. He was out to make China suffer. Why would Xi care about losing money or business and sell TikTok to Trump? Why shouldn't Xi hit back at Trump to make him feel the pain?
ReplyDeleteTrump only bullies. Good for Xi to give him a slap. He wants to seize TikTok for political interest, Xi should not give him for political reasons.
ReplyDeleteIf it is just money at stake, then it is a very good deal.
ReplyDeleteWASHINGTON: President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday (Sep 25) declaring that his plan to sell Chinese-owned TikTok's US operations to the US and global investors will address the national security requirements in a 2024 law.
ReplyDeleteThe new US company will be valued at around US$14 billion, Vice President JD Vance said, putting a price tag on the popular short video app for the first time. CNA
Trump is selling TikTok as if he owns it and he plans to sell it, not China.
Better that Byte Dance demand payment in Yuan. US$ is losing value as more furious printing is going on.
DeleteWhen is China, oops, Trump, going to sell Huawei to American companies?
ReplyDeleteBetter still, when is Trump going to sell all Chinese manufacturing to USA companies, including China's rare earth facilities.
DeleteTrump can do that with just an executive order, LOL.
DeleteHow come Trump has not issued an executive order to clear USA's debt of US$37 trillion?
DeleteAll we are hearing is Donald Trump approves Tik Tok sale, nothing about Tik Tok owners approving the sale.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what about the sale of Greenland, Canada and Mexico? Has Trump approved them yet?
Trump approved Nvidia sale in China, but China now did not approve buying them. So, how?
ReplyDeleteHeard of willing seller, unwilling buyer? Same with soya beans.
