Afghanistan was another war that they had aerial superiority. The USA ignored the fact that Afghanistan is not called the 'Graveyard of Empires' for nothing. A US$2 trillion adventure that they thought was a piece of cake, fighting against farmers carrying small arms. Who could defeat the mighty USA? Afghanistan then was nowhere near the military capability of the Iranians, with drones and missiles at its disposal. Invading may be easy, but subduing is a different thing altogether. Iran to surrender? Expecting a regime change? No way!
The USA did not even dare to have boots on the ground in Yemen against the Houthis, which would drag them into another Vietnam. If no victory could be carved out, the USA will suffer another indignity of having to run off with just its pants on.
Would Trump seriously be tempted to try his luck in Iran? He wants to cement his legacy of winning a war. An illusion perhaps.

There as news that a few cargos plane from China have landed in Iran. I guess it is a good time for China to send it advance weapon to Iran and use US/Israel as it test subject. Perhaps a powerful aircraft carriers killer would make the US/Israel shit in their pant and stop the war immediately.
