India will be “allowed” to buy Russian energy resources, but will face a “great risk” if it fails to comply with western sanctions, a senior Biden administration official has warned.
“The US has no objection to India buying Russian oil provided it buys it at a discount, without significantly increasing from previous years. Some increase is allowed,” the unnamed official told Reuters.
The anonymous official did not elaborate on whether this “great risk” might mean US secondary sanctions, nor what precisely would constitute a “significant” rise in the purchase of Russian energy.
“We, over the next several days and weeks, are going to be stepping up the enforcement of sanctions. We are telling everybody, everywhere around the world to ensure you are compliant with sanctions…this is the message to everyone,” the official said.
Last week, President Biden rebuked India for its “somewhat shaky” response to the Russian military operation in Ukraine. Indian officials responded by pointing to western hypocrisy of continuing to buy Russian oil and gas while trying to press New Delhi into shunning Russian energy supplies.
US and European officials have expressed consternation about how India, Pakistan and other non-western countries have responded to the Ukraine calamity, including over the way regional rivals New Delhi and Islamabad, who rarely agree on anything, jointly abstained from condemning Russia at the UN General Assembly. Earlier this month, Pakistani President Imran Khan slammed western envoys calling on Pakistan to denounce the Russian operation in Ukraine. “What do you think of us? Are we your slaves … that whatever you say, we will do?” Khan asked.
Indian officials expressed similar anger. Last week, a planned trip by a high-powered delegation of senior UK lawmakers including Commons speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle to New Delhi and Rajasthan was cancelled after the Indian government refused to meet them.

ReplyDeleteWho the fxxks is this unnamed official?
Any Tom, Dicky and Harry can claim to be a unnamed official. If a source is not able to quote that unnamed official, then he simply does not exist. As simple as that.
The Americans are treating India as their colony. They decide what India can or cannot buy and how much to buy.
ReplyDeleteThey also want to control the rest of the world, including China, on what they can or cannot buy from Russia. In fact they are telling the rest of the world that they cannot trade with Russia.
This is the gangsterism of the white savages. They still think they can go on bullying and threatening the rest of the world as the Evil Empire.
North Korea warns nuclear response if South provokes
ReplyDeleteFor the second time this week, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's powerful sister berated South Korea for touting its supposed preemptive strike capabilities against the North, saying her country’s nuclear forces would annihilate the South’s conventional forces if provoked.
In a statement carried Tuesday by North Korea’s state media, Kim Yo Jong called South Korea Defense Minister Suh Wook’s recent comments about preemptive strikes a “fantastic daydream” and the “hysteria of a lunatic.”
She warned it would retaliate with its nuclear forces if the South opts for preemptive strikes or other attacks, which would leave the South’s military “little short of total destruction and ruin.”
Seoul has long maintained such a preemptive attack strategy to cope with North Korea’s missile and nuclear threats, but it was highly unusual for a Moon administration official to publicly discuss it.
“In case (South Korea) opts for military confrontation with us, our nuclear combat force will have to inevitably carry out its duty … a dreadful attack will be launched and the (South Korean) army will have to face a miserable fate little short of total destruction and ruin,” Kim said in her latest statement.
ReplyDeleteIndia has being buying military-ware and weapon from Russia for decades.
What is buying oil?
India likely to ignore the US Warning or worse, shows its' middle finger at the US.
Btw,
the US has lost much of it's integrity over the Years and its' supremacist imperialisn is too plain and naked to all. Not surprising if the World wants it to decline and dis-integrate because of it's
Wild and Evil Ambition.
One can only pulled through the pre-emptive strikes if one has the capability to do so. Only if you are presented with the opportunity and strike capability.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, talking about pre-emptive strikes is nothing but foolishness.
If a South Korean candidate is talking about pre-emptive strikes, he must be very well-versed or he is just a fluke who wants to impress others.
United States Dollar At Risk of Losing Dominance, Goldman Sachs Warns
ReplyDeleteThe US dollar is dealing with some of the same challenges that the British pound faced in the early 1900s, before it went into decline, Goldman Sachs said in a research note released on Thursday. The Wall Street bank warns that the greenback could lose its global dominance.
The move by Washington and its allies to freeze much of the Russian Central Bank’s foreign currency reserves has raised concerns that countries could start moving away from the dollar. Analysts explained the risk as due to worries about the power the dollar grants the US.
The challenges that Goldman Sachs named include the fact that the US has a relatively small share of global trade compared to the dominance of its currency in global payments. Another issue is that the country has a deteriorating “net foreign asset position,” with rising foreign debts. In addition, the nation faces geopolitical problems, such as the conflict in Ukraine.
The Goldman Sachs economists also said the nation’s large debts due to the fact that it is a big importer of goods could be a particular problem.
The British pound, which was once the world’s reserve currency, was displaced by the US dollar in the middle of the 20th century. International investors were more reluctant to hold pounds after Britain amassed huge debts in World War II, the bank’s analysts noted. “If a reserve currency issuers’ debt is allowed to grow relative to GDP, eventually foreigners may grow reluctant to hold more of it,” they wrote.
Renminbi Internationalization? Putin's Ruble Master Stroke Sounds Dollar Death Knell
ReplyDeleteThe dummies in the White House are so amateurish and naive, thinking that when they attacked it would only heard the other party and they could laugh at their victims in anguish. They never consider that amateurish attacks would return to smack them right in their faces, like little Singapore sanctioning Russia. When they are not up to it, Zelensky is a perfect example, did not think it through thoroughly, they would end up the real victims.
ReplyDeleteThe whole bunch in the White House misleading a senile old man into thinking they could collapse Russia financially and economically, must be shivering in their pants now that Russia has struck back and the collapse of the dollar as an international currency is imminent.
No one can destroy the American Empire but only the Americans themselves. And they have done it. The end of the Empire is near.
China and Russia, each on its own, has developed enough heft to take on the Americans. And when the two joined hands, they would become very formidable. And India is with them too.
ReplyDeleteThen there are the Muslim and Arab nations that are throwing their weights with the combination, with all the victims of America joining in, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela and many others, the Americans and Europe with a few Asian lackeys would not stand a chance. And Russia and China could also count on the Africans and the Central Asians, could even count on the SE Asians, or at least the latter would be neutral, watching from the side lines.
The American plus the European states would be dwarfed by this new alliance in the making. It is now the rest of the world against the white races.
What would be the outcome of the showdown?
Don't forget the Latin Americans. They too hate the Americans to the core. Can also include the Pacific Islanders, all being controlled, abused and mistreated by the Americans as guinea pigs in their nuclear tests and the destruction of the environment in their tranquil ocean.
ReplyDeleteThe time has come for a showdown and who is the real international community. The Americans and the Europeans always claimed themselves to be the international community as they disregard and disrespect the rest of the world community as irrelevant. They are the world, the international community. The rest of the world is owned by them.
This is going to change.
It was reported that USA had bought 43% more oil from Russia using rubles causing the spike of rubles. Europeans are holding the short end of the stick. Very physcotic.
