India at its best in a speech by Modi reproduced by Arundhati Roy in theguardian.com.
“Friends, I have brought the message of confidence, positivity and hope from 1.3 billion Indians amid these times of apprehension … It was predicted that India would be the most affected country from corona all over the world. It was said that there would be a tsunami of corona infections in India, somebody said 700-800 million Indians would get infected while others said 2 million Indians would die.”
“Friends, it would not be advisable to judge India’s success with that of another country. In a country which is home to 18% of the world population, that country has saved humanity from a big disaster by containing corona effectively.”
Modi the magician takes a bow for saving humanity by containing the coronavirus effectively. Now that it turns out that he has not contained it, can we complain about being viewed as though we are radioactive? That other countries’ borders are being closed to us and flights are being cancelled? That we’re being sealed in with our virus and our prime minister, along with all the sickness, the anti-science, the hatred and the idiocy that he, his party and its brand of politics represent?
This was India at its best. The speech was given at a time when the USA and Europe were plunged into darkness by the virus. India could win a war by just talking. In the above speech Modi must have mesmerised the Americans and the whole world about the prowess of the Indians in handling the Covid19 crisis, in the same way the Indians have impressed the Americans and Europeans in how to run their businesses and taken many of them over to be run by the Indians.
Now Modi must be crying for speaking out loud too early. The Indians are now very angry for his incompetence and mismanagement of the Covid19 pandemic. The world is now watching how India is going to dig its way out of this tragedy. No amount of talking would the Covid19 virus go away. Only science and hardwork to contain the virus could help India. Smooth talking would just get India so far. But when luck runs out, when the truth needs to surface, the truth can be very ugly and painful.
India is under lockdown, the whole of India, not by India, but by the rest of the world. The rest of the world has no choice, no matter how sympathetic they are to India's plight. They will all chip in to help India. But locking down India is a must. Draconian, what is the alternative?
As Arundhati Roy puts it, 'We are witnessing a crime against humanity'. It is a catastrophe. You can lie, brag and cheat all the time, but you cannot lie, brag and cheat and get away with it all the time.
'This one was predicted, although its virulence has taken even scientists and virologists by surprise. So where is the Covid-specific infrastructure and the “people’s movement” against the virus that Modi boasted about in his speech? Hospital beds are unavailable. Doctors and medical staff are at breaking point. Friends call with stories about wards with no staff and more dead patients than live ones. People are dying in hospital corridors, on roads and in their homes. Crematoriums in Delhi have run out of firewood. The forest department has had to give special permission for the felling of city trees. Desperate people are using whatever kindling they can find. Parks and car parks are being turned into cremation grounds. It’s as if there’s an invisible UFO parked in our skies, sucking the air out of our lungs. An air raid of a kind we’ve never known.'
Alamak, can only say God Save India.
ReplyDeleteA Modi what have you done to the Muslims migrants in the past, did u shove them away? Now, Lord Karma is coming after u. Behold & repent . Behold & beg for forgiveness. Thou shall not do unto others as thou shall have them do unto you
ST Apr 29 headline: 16 community infections among 35 new Covid-19 cases in S'pore
ReplyDeleteWe had been warning for months about letting into Singapore so many imported COVID-19 cases from India, exposing Singaporean society at large to virus dangers, but the ruling PAP 4G elites' strategy is not risk elimination but risk minimization and risk management as they tradeoff the imported cases for the economy.
ReplyDeleteIn the hours of need India best friends the QUAD members United States, Australia and Japan just look the other side and keeping silent pretending not to know what is happening to its most important member India.
India must know the US and Australia are white racist and supremacist countries and Japan is US protectorate. They are using India as a geopolitical tool to serve their diabolical objective of containing China. Other than that they will view India more as a burden and will always be shunned and despised by them as being hopeless poor and weak just as they have been doing the same to China both in the past, the present and may be the future.
India and China's future lies in their ability to see a common destiny where they can see beyond their narrow prism of the historical border problems as it was purposely and proactively implanted by the former evil British imperialist to sow the seeds of future contention and confrontation between China and India. For thousands of years India and China have been living with each other in peace and harmony and with mutual respect until the evil warmongering and aggressive British invader appeared in the 18th century when it wrenched away large chunks of Chinese territories and ruled them under the British India government. England failed to settle the China - British India border issues when it was forced to leave India in 1947. Its intention was evil because it intentionally and proactively left a poisonous legacy for India to have a future struggle and conflict with China. England then organized the British Commonwealth Countries to oversee its ex-colonies affairs. So though India got its independence in 1947 it has always been under the evil British influence.
India needs to get over that evil and poisonous leftover British legacy of the India-China border issues and accommodate China half way to secure permanent peace, security and harmony so that both countries can progress together in development to prosperity and strength and thus be able to jointly confront the inherently evil British and the West headed by the evil empire the United States.
China and India must get back to their previous long history of friendship where they have mutual respect, security and harmony long before the warmongering British and the savage Europeans came as trouble makers and invaders.
India and China must wake up and get over their border issues to unite in friendship and solidarity to make the dream of 21st Asian Century come true. Don't let the evil and poisonous white people of the West diabolical plans destroy that dream.

For China and India to go back to history, Modi is not the one to make that happen. He has sold his soul to the devil. What he has done to India today is a manifestation of that evilness. The BJP Government is totally to be blamed. Of course that includes the people who voted for them.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of that, whether India appreciates the help or not, I think China still needs to help, if not for any other reason then take it as humanitarian aid. It is heart wrenching to see so much death and helplessness among the Indian citizenry. After all, if India cannot control the COVID19, the whole world will suffer. The only entity that benefits will be big Pharmas of the West.
The worst thing that is going to happen is that they are going to roll out vaccinations for those 18 years upwards, but not sure whether they will have the vaccines. Report says millions have registered, but not knowing where or when they will take their shots. It is confusing pronouncements like this that is making the situation worse. Like their media, they just say what they want to say, not caring whether it is the truth or just conjecture.
ReplyDeleteAt this point likely more than 80% of Indians already infected. What is the point of vaccination?
ReplyDeleteIt could even aggravate the situation with the body under more pressure to produce mRNA and still fighting real virus and fake virus. In such a situation, the patient would die faster.
Now is how to save lives, save those that are dying. Vaccination is too late.

Correct to "poisonous baggage for India"
2: Paragraph 4 : Line 1 : "left over British legacy"
Correct to "left over British baggage"

It is out of control. How many infected is unknown. What is mentioned of a tsunami of 700 to 800 million probably not far fetched. They estimated the actual death of the virus is now about 480 to 500 thousand, well over the 200 thousand mark officially reported. So many unknowns.
ReplyDeleteActually this was what most people had been expecting to happen even as early as middle of 2020, but the Government did not take the advice of medical experts and scientists seriously. That it did not happen then was somewhat of a surprise and that probably made them complacent.
To save those dying they need hospitals to admit them for medical care. Those left in ambulances waiting for admission will die without oxygen. What they are telling those infected is that if their condition is not serious to recover at home. But if one is gasping for air, they have to go to hospital. Without the medical infrastructure at hand, it is a difficult battle.
I think the whole world is worried as well.
Heaven is settling the scores for the evil ones. The more evil they are, the more will be infected and the more will die.
ReplyDeleteAs predicted half a year ago, India has become the Epicentre of the 3rd Wave of Coronavirus Pandemic.
ReplyDeleteAt present, official figures from the Indian Health authorities are grossly unreliable.
There are at least 17 different new variations of the COVID-19 virus circulating around India. These new variants are more infectious and deadly. Some of these new and more deadly viruses have already spread from India to other parts of the world.
(Singapore is easily included because of some money-minded imbeciles who have been horrendously eager to open up the country for minor economic gains, thereby taking more unnecessary, preventable and reckless risks at the expense of the healthcare system and the powerless citizens.)
Based on 50% infection rate, probably 650 million people or more have been infected already.
Based on 0.1% death rate, total deaths would have probably reached 1.3 million already, conservatively. The blood of those poor souls are on the hands of PM Modi and his gang of highly intelligent political animals.
Based on poor hygiene and superstitious religious behaviours, the figures estimated are conservatively realistic.
Based on the present Indian PM Modi and BJP leadership, winning elections is more important than stamping the outbreaks and spreads of the Coronavirus. As such, the situation is further aggravated and hastened.
Therefore, the scientists' and researchers' estimates of 800 million infections and 30 million deaths are not far fetched.
If not because of China's help, Brazil would easily be the another Epicenter of the Pandemic.
Modi should swallow his pride and go seek out Xi Jinping for help on an urgent basis. Millions of human lives could be saved!
Cheapskate USA bragging about a $100m aid to India but sending these pittance...
ReplyDelete'A first military plane loaded with emergency supplies including nearly one million instant tests and 100,000 N95 masks was arriving early on Friday in New Delhi, part of what the White House said was more than US$100 million in support.'
100,000 N95 masks and 1m test kits! What a shame!
Trump was the appointed messenger of death of mankind, but he lost the election. Modi is the newly appointed messenger of death. More ignorant, callous, vicious, cruel and of greater effect on the world.
ReplyDeleteThe horror of all this is that Modi's BJP seems headed for victory from exit polls in several states. Indians have still not suffered enough. Modi's Government was responsible for the massive collapse of India's GDP even before the pandemic. Demonetization of the Indian currency was also a factor.
What are the Indian's thinking and still wanting Modi to rule? Sad and I would say with little sympathy if this happens.
If the cases in Singapore are good examples, one infected, whole family infected, one person in a hospital ward infected, many will be infected, you can imagine how many Indian families would be infected, whole family infected because of the closeness of their live tyle and limited space, especially in the slums.
ReplyDeleteIf the imbeciles still take this lightly and think they can get away with it in their tida apa ways, Singapore is waiting for another big flare up.
No country would be able to produce the things India needs now in such massive quantities. Modi's preoccupation is in winning the election, not saving lives. He has already sold his soul to the white devil.
ReplyDeleteThose US$100 million probably nearing expiry date items. But no fish prawn also can. Modi will prostrate himself thanking his white God.
ReplyDeleteOne million test kits? What a joke?
If India is to be run by Indians, it would forever remain as a slum country. Bragging about being the pharmacy of the world but running out of basic drugs, no basic material even to produce vaccines, not enough oxygen, not enough masks, hospital beds and medical supplies, equipment, and what else, not enough space for burials and pyres.
ReplyDeleteIf India is to be run properly, it needs some foreigners to set it up for them and then they can come in and pretend to run it efficiently like all the American and foreign MNCs, set up nicely and invited an Indian to come in and pretend to have built it and run it.
Asking Indians to set up something running is as good as impossible. Look at the state of India now.
ZURICH: Denmark's top health official said on Thursday (Apr 29) "the only ethical, correct decision" for some countries facing COVID-19 crises is to continue giving AstraZeneca's vaccine, though his nation halted use over very rare clotting concerns.
ReplyDeleteWhat the Danes are saying is that they would not use it because it is not safe. But for poor countries, it is better than none. Poor countries can afford to take more risks.
Anon 10.21
ReplyDeleteIndians have long been bragging about how talented their people are in running MNCs all over the world. Why not tap on their talents since they are said to be top notch thinkers? Or is that just a myth?
On another note India claims they have produced enough oxygen, but are blaming transport bottlenecks for those oxygen not reaching hospitals and ironically on storage problems. How much space do these oxygen tanks and cylinders really take up I wonder? What is the real situation?
If all the Indian CEOs were to return to India to run India, would India be as good as the MNCs they are running?
ReplyDeleteI doubt so as the basics and foundations of good corporation, systems and supporting staff are not there. One CEO cannot achieve anything in India.
Singapore is a very good example. Everything finely set up and running on auto pilot. Then bring in all the fake talents from India to run it as if they created it. And without them Singapore will collapse.
ReplyDeleteWho turned Singapore into a first world city? Who is going to dump Singapore into a third world city?
They came, they claim it is their talents that made Singapore into what it is.
ReplyDeleteWho set up the big banks? All Chinese from Goh Keng Swee, Hon Sui Sen for DBS and other prominent Chinese leaders setting up OCBC and UOB. Who made everything shipshape for them?
Hong Kong announced yesterday (29 Apr) that it will ban all passenger flights from Nepal flying into its territory starting tomorrow (1 May).
ReplyDeleteNepal has been identified by Hong Kong authorities as extremely high-risk in importing COVID-19 infections to its city.
In addition to Nepal, flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines have already been banned by Hong Kong earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Singapore continues to allow travellers to use Nepal as transit point to enter Singapore (‘Ong Ye Kung: Travellers from India stay in third country before flying to SG assume lower risk profile‘).
Nepali media reported on 21 Apr that Indian nationals have been flying into Nepal, packing the hotels in Kathmandu before flying off to their destination countries including Singapore.
But Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung feels that the risk is low. He said that a traveller who has left India but stayed in another country before flying to Singapore would not have the same level of risk as someone who came directly from India.
On Tue (27 Apr), Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan angrily hit out at the accuracy of COVID-19 testing in India.
ReplyDeleteA flight which flew from KL to Perth last Sat (24 Apr) showed that 78 of the 79 passengers onboard had recently been in India. So far, 4 COVID-19 cases have been found during hotel quarantine by Tue.
“I have just been advised at this morning’s emergency management team meeting that 78 of the 79 passengers on this flight had been in India recently,” McGowan said.
“Our expectation is the number of positive cases from this group of people will grow and potentially grow significantly.”
He said the accuracy of India’s Covid-19 testing methods could not be trusted.
“We obviously have a problem with India,” he said.
“Some of the tests conducted in India either aren’t accurate or aren’t believable and clearly that’s causing some issues here.”
The WA premier said while he sympathized with the situation in India, his priority had to be protecting Western Australia.
The imbeciles do not believe they will cheat. They are very honest and nice people.
ReplyDeleteCovid-19: Why India's 2nd Wave is Devastatingly Significant!
ReplyDeleteRajeshwari Devi, 58, died on 25 April after waiting for two days to get uninterrupted oxygen, an ambulance and admission into a Covid-19 hospital in India. She gasping for breath while waiting for medical attention but it was too late by the time help arrived.
Her Story:
She was taken to a hospital emergency room on 16 April after her oxygen saturation level dropped. Her CT scan showed that she had developed severe pneumonia.
Tragically ironic, without her Covid report, the hospital refused to admit her. As a result, she spent 36 hours in the Emergency Room on oxygen support in the northern Indian district of Robertsganj. The hospital staff there told her family they were running out of oxygen and she needed to be moved to a bigger hospital but there was no ambulance or any promise of a bed.
The desperate family took her in their car to another hospital, where a bed had become available after the intervention of a politician. She had no oxygen support in the car - she died minutes before she could be admitted to the second hospital.
Heartbreaking stories such as this are numerous as the much anticipated new Covid waves rampage across the Indian subcontinent of 1.3 billion population.
Official data shows that these recent waves of Covid infections are more infectious and deadlier, although India's "officially" reported death rate from the virus is deliberately low.
India's healthcare system is crumbling amid the surge in cases - doctors say it's hard for them to "see the light at the end of the tunnel this time".
The rise in recent case numbers has been exponential!
From June 2020, India recorded 35,000 cases daily average.
By March 2021, the cases rose sharply to 89,800 daily average.
Yesterday, April 30, there was more than 350,000 cases confirmed. Deaths were reported as more than 30,000 daily average!
New Delhi, the capital of India, has run out of hospital beds, oxygen, respirators, medicine, doctors, nurses, mortuary spaces, and CREMATION CENTRES!
Main causes?
1. Incompetent and inefficient Indian Central Government led by PM Modi and his BJP party of cunning political "mobsters".
2. Total disregard of COVID-19 health measures and deliberate "disbelief" of the existence of COVID-19 Pandemic by many State governors and ruling politicians.
3. Huge crowds, majority not wearing masks with no social-distancing, were encouraged at many BJP election rallies.
4. Sports events continue to attract huge crowded gatherings, for the sake of profits and money-making opportunities.
5. After one long year, outskirts of cities and villages were still not augmented into India's Healthcare System and were not being prepared for any mass outbreak of the COVID-19 situation in India.
6. Poor hygiene is normally being practiced throughout India.
7. Religious superstitions dominate the behaviour and habits of the majority of the people in India.
8. Lack of medical and scientific knowledge and refusal to heed medical and scientific advices by local, state and central governments.
9. Money-minded business people and politicians are more interested in personal gains than the health of the people.
10. Karma, Retribution or God's Will!
Lesson Learnt
As expected, Covid cases in Singapore are on the rise again, both imported and community infections due to the open-arms approach.
Obviously, Singapore is catching up fast to join the bandwagon of India because of the love affair between the two countries' governments and also because
of the close and strong ties of certain Singapore's new citizens with India's population.
If the present lack-of-urgency, lack-of-concern, and irresponsible ways of certain gungho millionaires continue unchecked, Singaporeans are guaranteed to be in for another ride on the high waves of India's devastating Covid spreads without fail.
