I think Trump did but would not tell the American public fearing to lose face and votes for his second term. Another advice is to hire those Chinese doctors and nurses that went to help Wuhan and have now gone home to their own provinces. These are experienced medical staff and some with immunity from the virus after being infected while in Wuhan.

US bought France-bound face masks for CASH from China
The US bought out a planeload of Chinese-made face masks right on the tarmac just as the haul of the much needed protective gear was about to set off for France, the head of a French region said.
Facing shortages of protective equipment amid the coronavirus outbreak, France has turned to China to procure the much-needed face masks.
After French legislature adopted a law on the emergent medical situation, local authorities were able to place an order on the equipment in China, paying for it upfront. All in all, his and other regions ordered some 60 million masks, the head of the south-eastern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region Renaud Muselier said Wednesday.
“The masks have been already produced and are currently in China. There are troubles with their delivery, though,” Muselier said, adding that the haul was set to arrive in France on Thursday evening.
The country, however, ran into unexpected logistics troubles and not-that-friendly competition from the US, Muselier revealed.
"Today in the morning in China, the Americans bought out the French order for cash right on the tarmac. The France-bound plane departed to the US afterwards."
The Americans are trying to procure any masks already available, disrupting deliveries to other nations, another report by French daily Liberation indicated.
“They pay double and cash, even before seeing the goods,” an anonymous source told the newspaper.

Why would China want to help when Trump is still trying to discredit China, saying it's figures are not transparent. At this point of time, is blaming China for under-reporting going to help fight the virus in the USA?
What about United Snakes of America's own death figures? Are they honestly transparent?
If China is under-reporting, still their their death rate is about 4%. If 4% is under reported, lets assume that it is true.
What about United Snakes of America's death rate of under 2.5% of infection rate of 216,000 or thereabouts. Looking at the EU, Italy's death rate is well over 10%, Spain at 9%, and other major infected EU countries reporting between 6 and 8%.
That 2.5% death rate stands out like a sore thumb for a country with the most infections. If China's 4% is fictitiously low, and should be higher, what should the United Snakes of America's real death rate be? I would guess the total death in the USA to be around 10 to 15 thousand at least. To substantiate this estimate, why would morgues be said to be unable to cope with a mere 4K death rate, with claims that corpse have to be put into refrigerated trucks. Some things do not add up.
If they argue that the virus infecting the USA is not the same virus in Wuhan, and is less virulent and deadly, on what grounds can they say that the Chinese brought the virus from Wuhan into the USA.
