Malaysia becoming more like Singapore, the next incorruptible country

Singapore has the reputation of being the least corrupt country in Asia. Thanks to an incorruptible govt and an incorruptible culture. After visiting Singapore so many times and so many exchanges and retreats with Singapore govt officials, something good must have rubbed on to the Malaysians. They are becoming incorruptible, especially the ruling govt.

So far no govt official has been arrested for corruption, not from the ruling party definitely. The only people that are corrupt are likely from the opposition parties and their members. The Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, has just been arrested for corruption.

This is how serious Malaysia is about stamping out the scourge of corruption in the country. And they have set a very good example with the ruling party members all being incorruptible. And they will not be kind to the opposition parties or anyone that is corrupt.

Malaysia is becoming another shining example of a country that is free of corruption and very firm against anyone that is corrupt, regardless of race or position. Now Asean countries have two shining examples to emulate, Singapore and Malaysia, the two most incorruptible countries in Asean and Asia.

Najib is setting a fine example of honesty and incorruptibility.

Rb, I think the Malaysian have a different model. They do not need to pay minister million dollar salary to be incorruptible. So they did better at a lesser cost to tax payer. The other countries would have to decide which model is better,

Is this a (bush) trap?

One thing sinkieland is far behind Malaysia is in economics management?

Both countries nominal GDP is about the same near US$400 billion?

But Malaysian GDP at PPP is more than 2X sinkieland's?

Anonymous said...

Another thing is politics?

Their ruling party is much more self confident and less paranoid?

And much more tolerant for diverse views?

Anonymous said...

Look at their former PM?

What he said and did?

If lao goa did and said similar things, would he still be lao goa or bbq goa?

Anonymous said...

Also, their politics is so much more pluralistic?

This one sinkieland cannot even come near?

See how many of their former #2 had fallen out with their #1?

Anonymous said...

For rich sinkies, if sampan sink, can "run road" to western cuntries or arseland or 牛zyland?

For the poor, probably only option to seek shelter is Matland?

Hopefully, Matland is not learning too much from sinkieland?

Anonymous said...

Matland economy definitely is much more self sustaining than sinland?

Even the paltry amount of food produced in sinkieland would be decimated given many remaining farms in LCK are told to vacate their land soon to make way for paper general commanded war games?

Need more land for military training? Serious?

要风得风! 要雨得雨!

Yes! Najib is the BESTest example to ASEAN members for honesty
and incorruptibility!

Don't play play! Don't play play!

Now, Najib 要风得风! 要雨得雨! Yes! 要风得风! 要雨得雨!

No one can touch him! Yes! No one! No one!

Najib is the man! Najib is man of steel!

Najib Boleh! Malaysia Boleh! Najib Boleh!

Cheers!

Malaysian people are definitely smarter than sinkies in many ways?

For one, many avoid NS and the others life long "slaveries" by keeping their status in the long haul?

In the short term and while young, they land in sinkieland by the "bad-tee-lion" going by those on 2-wheels and "BMWs" daily to earn inflated currencies to spend in their own far lower cost of living countries?

Anonymous said...

Previously, many sinkies "laugh" when the suggestion of "migrating" to matland is broached?

Looking into the long term and very long term, who is to say it is not a "very viable option" for the lower rungs in society?

Many thousands, if not tens of thousands, are living in Matland especially the neighbouring state?

To Mr Najib.....

Job well done!

Corruption is never free. Someone pays and someone else benefits.

Depending on where you are in the grand scheme, corruption can be beneficial to you. So I'm not totally against corruption.

In fact, the best way to "beat the government" is to bribe them.

For the lower rungs, the long term future is in Matland ........?

One of the shocking things he shared was his take on the education system on both sides what is on the surface and more imptly beneath. ........

Between both, the one that has found the REAL RIGHT balance is Matland?

How can it be real balance in one pseudo democracy when there was no opposition MP for almost 20 years in parliament and after that as good as dun have when it is 1 or 2 or 4 or 7 or 6 vs 100,000 to 130,000 (if u think deeper)?

The real balance is in Matland?

They are much more self-confident?

So many former #2 can "challenge" the #1 and matland never collapse?

Even their former #1 can "kpkb" in his blog almost several times each day?

some say Singapore got chance to house up to 12m population
by leasing the Iskandar zone and the latest forest city for
956yrs with extension option of another 956 yrs

bridges between Singapore and forest city and Iskandar zone
will do marvellous job in cutting travelling time

so, don't say 6.9m or 10m, 12m also no problem

is this his plan too?

worth considering, be quick be quick

He spoke at length what his children and grandchildren went through and what his children became despite "doing all the supposedly right things in the education system"?

Mee was like a "small sch boy" sitting there for hours and listening to an elderly wise old man sharing his insights, wisdom, analysis. .......etc

Another anecdotal example about the wealth of a 31-yo matland SPM educational level (equivalent sinland N Level) cha bor working in sinland would be even more "earth shattering"?

Back to the patriarch wise words ......

He said sinland education "no market value?" .........

If the purpose is to train the mind, why train students in things 99% of them do not need in their jobs that make real value?

If one intend to read law in uni, why bother waste time, $$$, agonies, opportunity costs, brain power learn subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Bio?

Why must take Physics as a contrasting subject when it is soon forgotten 1 month after A level?

What is the rationale? Botak-logy? Botak said so and therefore die die MUST ROLL out in 2007? All students since then "sacrificial lambs"?

Anonymous said...

After taking and scoring distinction in Physics and Math A Level during their studies, many practising lawyers mostly are still I T idiots?

So what does that prove?

Taking contrasting subjects works?

Anonymous said...

In economics term, the patriarch could be right?

Present education system is "malfunction and dysfunctional"?

Gross "misallocation of precious resources" and "misdirection of efforts, $$$, resources in learning"?

Anonymous said...

Why force A Level students to take 3xH2 and 1xH1 when one month after A Level exam, most students cannot remember a thing and would not do well if they are asked to retake the A Level in Dec of the same year?

So what does that prove?

After 50 years of education management, still languishing at JLB std and getting worst?

Anonymous said...

Having been talking to undergrads the past few years in all the local uni ........

Most of them cannot remember much about the content when asked them about previous year subjects / modules

Some thing (fundamental) not right but doubt the 2 green horns can do anything on this? Many JLBs, JS etc are probably still kooning in their 5000th storey ivory tower, smoking pen-ultimate cigar, bathing in airflown goat milk and some drowning in Swiss alps wine and others indulging in serving after serving of Persian Caviar?

Anonymous said...

Why change for the sake of change?

Why cannot just revert to 3 A Level subjects for university entrance?

Why must be different from international standard?

Anonymous said...

Botak-logy has failed (miserably)?

Anonymous said...

JLBs and JS made (fundamental) changes to education system and then just leave it like that?

Never bother to go to the ground to verify what are the (actual) outcome?

Last time, Old man and his comrades will not be so lazy and will go to the ground to check?

Anonymous said...

Sinland "丸疸" le?

Anonymous said...

One policy misstep, especially in education often means at least 20 years to undo the damages?

Anonymous said...

Provided it is acknowledged early but often JLB will (stubbornly) stuck in self-denial until too late?

Like the mrt system?

Now 20 years oso may not be sufficient to be able to "right" the "follies"?

Anonymous said...

Plus the missteps in the property policies and others like stock market policies etc etc?

Can sinland ever ("灰负" and) get on its "角" again?

"Run road" maybe the latest "in trend"?

If corrupt, got share share a bit, must keep quiet lah!

To those who claim that this Guan Eng charge is political persecution of opposition, I agree. But if you think about it, shouldn't have Guan Eng kept out of shady transactions? Like buying a bungalow at a low price, from an owner who had a business relationship to the buyer of Taman Manggis. Furthemore, that Taman Manggis was also sold below market value (from the Penang government to the bz partner of the seller of the bungalow Guan Eng bought).

So isn't it clear as daylight that there is a smoking gun? You give me cheap deal for the house, I give you cheap deal for state land. Wah, you think UMNO is so dumno to let that one go ah?

So to all DAP and Guan Eng supporters, please don't support blindly. You are like Najib supporters who cannot see the 1MDB debacle.

Many in retail cannot tahan the high rentals?

Only a small percentage of "niche mkt, responsive, smart, sharp biz nose" f & B can probably make good $$$?

Many "sizeable" outlets on weekday nights during evening peak hours have waiters, waitresses standing around looking very bored and demoralised? For some outlets, even the (bored) cooks and chefs also come out of the kitchens to the dining areas to "wait" for things to do (order)?

Anonymous said...

Meanwhile Botak has been pocketing few millions a year remunerations in salary, bonuses etc and will 99% continue to do so in coming years (with impunity) while many retail businesses are crumpling under "mountains of debts" and insufferable and unbearable high rentals?

Anonymous said...

Botak's failed economic policies since the 2000s would likely "drag sinland through mud(land)" and many emerging totally in "mud" in years to come?

In the (sinland economic) tunnel, there is no light in front even thousands of miles ahead?

Businessmen in sinland "very cham"? The smiles on even those multimillionaires have become very rare nowadays and probably non-existent in the past 180 days?

WHAT IS TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL?
---------------------------------------
From villages in rural India to the corridors of power in Brussels, Transparency International gives voice to the victims and witnesses of corruption. We work together with governments, businesses and citizens to stop the abuse of power, bribery and secret deals.

As a global movement with one vision, we want a world free of corruption. Through chapters in more than 100 countries and an international secretariat in Berlin, we are leading the fight against corruption to turn this vision into reality.

How do you define corruption?
-------------------------------------
Generally speaking as “the abuse of entrusted power for private gain”.
Corruption can be classified as grand, petty and political, depending on the amounts of money lost and the sector where it occurs.

Grand corruption consists of acts committed at a high level of government that distort policies or the central functioning of the state, enabling leaders to benefit at the expense of the public good.

Petty corruption refers to everyday abuse of entrusted power by low- and mid-level public officials in their interactions with ordinary citizens, who often are trying to access basic goods or services in places like hospitals, schools, police departments and other agencies.

Political corruption is a manipulation of policies, institutions and rules of procedure in the allocation of resources and financing by political decision makers, who abuse their position to sustain their power, status and wealth.

See animated definitions of many corruption terms in our Anti-corruption Glossary.

WHAT IS TRANSPARENCY?
---------------------------
Transparency is about shedding light on rules, plans, processes and actions.
It is knowing why, how, what, and how much.

Transparency ensures that public officials, civil servants, managers, board members and businesspeople act visibly and understandably, and report on their activities.
And it means that the general public can hold them to account.

It is the surest way of guarding against corruption, and helps increase trust in the people and institutions on which our futures depend.

Transparency International - Report Corruption
--------------------------------------------
Transparency International’s Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres (ALACs) provide free and confidential legal advice to witnesses and victims of corruption.

Offering a simple, credible and viable mechanism for citizens to pursue their corruption-related complaints, ALACs empower citizens in the fight against corruption.

ALACs also play a critical role identifying corruption hotspots that demand reform or official action.
Harnessing the powerful, real life data gathered by ALACs on the consequences and mechanisms of corruption, Transparency International chapters engage in strategic advocacy to bring about systemic change in public policy and practice.

Staying in a hotel is never a permanent solution?

When a home becomes a hotel, it is time to move (to another real home)?

Anonymous said...

A home is indisputably much lower cost to maintain and stay than a hotel over the long haul?

When it is as expensive to stay in a home than in a neighbouring (state) 5-star hotel, it doesn't make any 牛理 anymore?

It makes more sense to abandon the expensive hotel, uproot to a real home which should always be much cheaper to maintain and stay over the long run?
