Futuristic Train Terminal

Many would think this photo is a screen shot taken from the Star Wars movie or some Sci fi movies coming out from Hollywood. This is real. This is not back from the future or the future. This is the present.

Where would you think this is from? Singapore's Bishan or the Tuas depot of tomorrow? Or is it in Japan, Germany, France or the USA?  Keep guessing.

Many critics or western media will say these trains are good to see but would break apart after two days. Some will say there are made of cheap parts, plastics, cannot move, maybe got horses inside the trains to pull it along.

These are the latest bullet trains from China. They are breaking all the records for speed and safety features. And they have been running for more than a decade. And they have been running from China to Central Asia. They have been operating in Europe, in Africa, and will be running in Indonesia, Thailand and the USA.

How about that, a present from China for Christmas?

Merry Christmas everyone.

Many Singaporeans have no idea China have leadership in a few technology.

1) High Speed Rail
2) Super-conductivity
3) Radar
4) Telecommunication
5) Nuclear
6) Artificial Intelligence (Due to the work of RI Alumni Andrew Ng)
7) Manufacturing Technologies

Eventually some Malay Hindu, and banana clowns here who keep bashing China will need to face the fact that China MNC will one day flood Singapore, and we will be working for their managers.

We are no longer that rich and China is no longer that poor.

Right now, Xiaomi and Huawei already have significant presence in Singapore. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China already open a lot of branches in Singapore heartland.

Very soon China will have equivalence of Apple, Google and Microsoft.

And soon PRC will despise Singaporean just like we despise PRC now. Many people do not know the most posh district in PRC is better than Singapore.

The HK elites are stupid and complacent and HK is a dirty country. In contrast Shenzhen is clean.

Singapore is so damned because our leaders choose to forgo engineering.

From China to Central Asia spans a distance longer than The Long March Mao Tze Tong and his troops tracked in 1935 ( to escape from the encirclement by Chiang's KMT military )?

That's easily a few thousand miles?

Agree. And as professionals, engineers are much lower in level in terms of pay and prestige than doctors and lawyers.

Because the title engineer can be loosely and legally used, unlike a doctor or a lawyer. You don't suka suka ( as you like) call yourself a lawyer or a doctor. But a company can promote someone with only ITE or even 'O' level cert and be given the title engineer or even senior engineer. Of course, I am not talking about professional engineers registered with the Professional Engineers Board. Hence there is a great differentiation between Professional engineer and engineer, unlike a doctor or lawyer.

Just the last 3-digit 798 sq km already dwarfed the city of sins?

DTL2 only less than 20 miles in all?

But need "very long bedding-in period" ......?

Is the PAP going to build a nuclear power plant in Singapore?
- better confirm before voting in GE 2020.
- Ukraine has 19 nuclear power plants ... and this is what can go wrong ...

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-12-24/ukraines-looming-19-fukushimas-scenario

How close is Ukraine to a major nuclear accident?
===============================================

Well, it turns out, very close: just recently one was narrowly avoided when some Ukro-Nazis blew up electric transmission lines supplying Crimea, triggering a blackout that lasted many days.
The Russians scrambled and ran a transmission line from the Russian mainland, so now Crimea is lit up again.
But while that was happening, the Southern Ukrainian, with its 4 energy blocks, lost its connection to the grid, and it was only the very swift, expert actions taken by the staff there that averted a nuclear accident.

... One of the worst things that can happen to a nuclear reactor is loss of electricity supply.

Yes, nuclear power stations make electricity
—some of the time
—but they must be supplied with electricity all the time to avoid a meltdown.

This is what happened at Fukushima Daiichi, which dusted the ground with radionuclides as far as Tokyo and is still leaking radioactive juice into the Pacific.

And so the nightmare scenario for the Ukraine is a simple one.

Temperature drops below freezing and stays there for a couple of weeks.
Coal and natural gas supplies run down;
thermal power plants shut down;
the electric grid fails;
circulator pumps at the 19 nuclear reactors (which, by the way, probably haven't been overhauled as recently as they should have been) stop pumping;
meltdown!

It is extremely unfair

A nuclear power plant, especially a very huge and powerful one will ensure the safety and security of Sin.
Simply put, no neighbour will dare attack Sin if such a nuclear plant is built. For, damaging the Plant will get them into big trouble as a consequence.

With a powerful nuclear power station, Sin can sell powers to
others as well. Plenty of advantages.

When a PAP government can finally learn how to manage the smallest train system in the world (MRT), then maybe PAP can graduate to learn how to manage a nuclear power plant.

What is PAP's "bedding in period" for a PAP nuclear power plant in Singapore?
How long will it take for a PAP nuclear power plant to overcome its "teething" problems?
ROFL.

Leave the Management of Nuclear Power Plant to the Experts in the Field.

PAP cannot even look after the Sinkies who are actually taking care of themselves and not relying on PAP by the way.

Sinkies voted PAP bcos PAP gave chicken wing and leg to the people.
The people are happy to return drumstick and even the whole chicken to PAP. Both are hapy and satisfied with each other making Sg a harmonious and peaceful place.
Hence, no demonstration, mob or bloodflow. Sin is the envy of the world.

Much of the Japanese public remains concerned about safety since the Fukushima disaster, given that Japan is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world.

Since the Fukushima disaster, local governments in areas containing nuclear power plants have been required to establish evacuation plans in the event of possible nuclear accidents, but no such plan has been set to ensure the safety of the approximately 180,000 people living within about 20 miles of the Takahama power plant.

London Underground - Greatest Loss of Life
---------------------------------------------

The Moorgate tube crash occurred on Friday 28 February 1975 at 08:46 GMT on the Northern City Line, then operated by London Underground as the Highbury branch of the Northern line.

A train failed to stop at the Moorgate station, the line's southern terminus, and crashed into the wall at the end of the tunnel.
43 people died as a result of the crash, the greatest loss of life during peacetime in the London Underground, and a further 74 were injured.

With no fault being found with the train equipment, a report from the Department of the Environment found that the driver had failed to slow the train and stop at the station and there was insufficient evidence to determine the cause.

Following the crash, a safety system that stops a train automatically if the driver fails to brake, was introduced on the London Underground which became informally as Moorgate protection.

Snake?

Did not Somebolee said city of sin is a "mythological UNICORN"?

Anonymous said...

How did city of sin so fast "downgraded" to worm or snake?

Anonymous said...

Veritas // Singapore is so damned because our leaders choose to forgo engineering. //

In a way, this is quite serious and great implications for the economy down the road.

Anonymous said...

Even in some basic infrastructure, the so called mythological unicorn seemed quite ( far ) behind the dragon.

Anonymous said...

The ramifications in just the economics dimension can be multiple folds.

Anonymous said...

If this so called mythological unicorn has to struggle building and operating a relatively "miniscule" (in the global scale) subway system (extension), what makes it think it can ( even ) compete globally, have its cake and eat it too?

Anonymous said...

Then it is no surprise this so called mythological unicorn is more apt to be in the form of a snake?

Anonymous said...

And even that may be a stretch?

Anonymous said...

It has lose its strengths in several areas ( which built up what it is ) and going by the ( foreseeable ) trend, much of its remaining strengths down the road?

Anonymous said...

At this rate, this city of sins may have trouble even hanging on to the status of a snake ( downgraded from the mythological unicorn )?

Anonymous said...

So a worm it will be eventually?

Anonymous said...

There are some ( big ) missteps it had made in the past 25 years ( since the loa goa's era ) and not easy to u turn?

Anonymous said...

Some ( fundamental policy ) missteps highly likely take years ( and most probably decades ) to correct?

Anonymous said...

Given the ( fundamental policy ) flaws, the slide down ( becoming a worm ) is inevitable?

Without the ( core ) competence, to further undertake "rash" ( and ambitious "risky" projects such as nuclear reactor plant, underground water storage ) decisions could be "suicidal"?

Anonymous said...

Typo @ 5.38

Should be "lost" .....

Sad, indeed sinkieland seemed to have lost even some of its basic strengths and direction ( in core fundamental policies )? How to compete ( and remain viable as a piece of barren rock ) on the global stage?

Anonymous said...

Now there are 2 fundamental issues:

1) It may be too late ( and far behind ) to turn back?

2) This is even before point (1). Does anybolee ( up in the 10,000 storeys high, cosy, comfy ivory tower ) know what are the ( fundamental policy ) flaws; and how to ( bring about to ) correct such flaws ( given that they are so deeply embedded and intertwined with "very, very long gestational period")?

Anonymous said...

The recently setup "Committee for Future Economy" //identified five areas that will be crucial to economic development in the coming years.

These are future growth industries and markets, corporate capabilities and innovation, jobs and skills, urban development and infrastructure, as well as connectivity.//

The 5 key areas did not include one of the fundamental policy flaw. It means they do not recognise it as a ( fundamental ) problem ( that needs to be addressed )?

Also the 5 key areas vaguely "skirted" on another fundamentally policy flaw and thus ( quite ) unlikely to "identify and correct" it?

Anonymous said...

"another fundamentally policy flaw"

Typo ...

should be " another fundamental policy flaw"

Anonymous said...

Exchange rate and ( short-run ) fiscal policies ( usually just boost ) demand deficiencies in the short term and ( fundamentally ) do not ( effectively and essentially ) affect long run ( economics ) growth and development.

Anonymous said...

Typo

"( usually just boost )"

should be without the brackets

Anonymous said...

When "someboLEE" mentioned a few months ago that the "easy options" for ( economics ) growth are "max out" ( to drive short-run ( economics ) growth ), is "Mr someboLEE" referring to the "policies that only engender short-run ( economics ) growth"?

Anonymous said...

The Fundamental Flaw of the Rulers in Sin is that All Plans are focused on growing the ECONOMIC Development of the Tiny Dot to benefit the Cronies and Elites. AND THE COMMONERS ARE BEING USED AND EXPLOITED TO ACHIEVE THEIR WEALTHS.

The Rulers are well aware of the Fate of the Tiny Rock and have been exploiting whatever possible to enrich themselves their cronies and the Elite Class.
The Horrible Man and his Successors including Lao Gao were and are All the Planners in the Schemes of Development. No attempt was and is made to care about the Wellbeings of the Native Sinkies except to bring in aliens and exploit these foreigners and the Native Commoners to enrich the Ruling Classes and their Cronies and Elite Supporters. There is no plan for U- turn but for the exploited, BOTH THE WORKING CLASS LOCALS AND IMPORTED LABOURS, to face the Consequences.

Sinkie Working Classes are happy with the Arrangements, they are satisfied to get chicken wing and neck as THEY GET TO SEE THAT IMPORTED ALIEN WORKERS ARE PAID MUCH LESS FOR MORE WORKS THAN THEY(LOCALS) DO. THEREFORE THEY(LOCALS) STILL FEEL SUPERIOR OVER THE FOREIGN LABOURS AND FEEL GOOD. TYPICAL SINKIES ARE ALSO FINE TO RETURN DRUMSTICK AND THE WHOLE CHICKEN FOR HAVING GIVEN CHICKEN WING AND NECK AND FEEL VERY CONSOLED.

If and when Sinkies face dire consequences in their survival in Sin, in some ways, THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING THE FATE UPON THEMSELVES FOR GOING AND SLEEPING ALONG WITH THE SNAKES.

Anonymous said...

Is "Mr someboLEE" referring to the "low hanging and mid hanging fruits " that were ( greedily, selfishly, indiscriminately, self-servingly, excessively ) being "monetised, plucked, unlocked" by "LAO GOA & HIS COHORT"?

Anonymous said...

Leaving all the problems ( to be faced ) to the future generations ( of the 90% of the masses ?

In the analogy of the fruit trees, now ( most of ) the fruits are gone, the trees ( are ) quite botak with few ( remaining ) leaves ( and branches )?
