Mobile Air Scam – due justice

Many may have forgotten about the Mobile Air scam and Jover Chew. But the mentioning of the video of a Vietnamese tourist forced to go on his knees to beg for mercy from the thugs at Mobile Air must still be fresh in the minds of many.

When the incident was made public, many including some from the legal fraternity were claiming that these were smart alecs and knew the law well and knew how to play around with the law and kept themselves above the law and the legality of their scam.

Yesterday four of the employees were sentenced to jail between 4 to 15 months for their thuggish behavior and cheating. Wow, they were not that clever after all and the judge was able to slam the sentences on them. Jover Chew, the mastermind, is facing 28 charges and his case would be heard on 28 Oct.

What were their clever crimes? ‘These include them quoting attractive prices and then altering the invoices after deals had been inked, so as to inflate the amount customers have to pay…The main purpose of quoting their victims an attractive price was to induce them to hand over their hard earned money and to thereafter use various means to try to extract more money from them. These are the elements that comprise the offence of cheating.’  The judge said.

And they were so sure of their clever scam that they even taunted their victims to report them to the authorities. They must have received good legal advice from some clever people that what they had done were legitimate and nothing could be done to them.  According to the DPP, the four men even accused the authority for not stopping them in their acts, indirectly saying if the authorities did not stop them then it must be ok. So it is the fault of the authorities.

Now justice is waiting for Jover Chew and very likely he is not going to act smug any more after the judgement and sentencing of his case.

RB

Hahahahahaha.

So PAP can also accuse the 70% for voting for them despite the cock-ups and screwing Sinkies that PAP did, indirectly saying if 70% still voted for them, then it must be ok for PAP to cock-up and screw Sinkies.

Should give them a few strokes to deter others. This kind of tactics is just daylight robbery.

善有善报 恶有恶报! 善有善报 恶有恶报!

Before the law fell on them, it was indeed very very scary
that such thing actually happened in Singapore.

I think there are many such cases out there, not reported.

Hope that the sentencing served as a good example.

Like someone said recently after the GE....."they get the
sentencing they deserve, so don’t want to hear any more
complains".

Please remember......善有善报 恶有恶报!

Cheers.

Sure or not?
Are you sure it was not a video of a 55 year old Singaporean begging for the return of his CPF money?

If Jover Chew's employees were foreigners who can punch and shout " ****** Asians " at customers ... do you think they would have been jailed?

Ultra-marathoners Yong Yuen Cheng and Lim Nghee Huat ran 50km everyday for 50 days to celebrate SG50 Golden Jubilee.
They did this for free.

But these two daft Sinkies will not run 55km everyday for 55 days to ask for the return of their CPF money.
Their own money they don't care.
But a stupid PAP celebration, SG50, they will do for free.

How stupid can they get?

"How stupid can they get?" unquote.

How stupid have some Sinkies sank into is defined by the 70%. There is no cure for this sickness. More and more will succumb to this sickness as we reach for SG100. Mark my words.

It's a shame.
Singapore's future would be better secured with a more diverse parliament.
I think we've run out of time.

Actually if they didn't alter the invoices, but just charge extra for things like cables, chargers, warranty etc, then they will not be cheating liao. Remember S'pore still practice caveat emptor --- you die is your biz.

How come DBS, UOB, OCBC, Citibank, StanChart, HSBC never kena even a $1 fine for anyhow selling structured deposits, Minibonds, Pinnacle notes, mortgaged-backed securities during 2006-2008?!?!

Whereas in other countries like HK, US, Canada, UK, big banks kena fined hundred$ of million$$ & forced to compensate their customers.

Do you think the difference could be due to the government?
In Singapore, we have the PAP government.
In other countries, they don't have the PAP government.

If Singaporeans had voted in a Workers' Party government or an SDP government, do you think Singaporean investors would have received better protection?

@ probability-challenged, 350:

Something BIG will ALWAYS happen, at sometime, somewhere and without any forewarning.

For e.g. we have seen, in our lifetimes: pandemics kill millions, tsunamis kill hundreds of thousands, financial collapses wipe out trillions and affect hundred of millions, planes fall out of the sky or vanish without a trace, nut-jobs practicing their target skills on life subjects in schools and malls, any manner of explosive device detonated in cafes, buses, markets, places of worship etc etc.

Probability theory suggests that if there's a chance something will occur, in time, it will.

SHIT is going to happen, and no one can stop it. No one can be 100% prepared.

Deal with it, and be happy regardless. Can?

Deal with it. Jover Chew just cheat people money. Just return and throw him coins.

I give police 10 mins from now to call me and tell me they send the police who take out baton outside my house go jail. Give rc member warning. Show me the proof.
