A most awaited once in 50 year event

They say great things don’t happened everyday, and often it happens once in 50 years. If that is not the case then everyone will be celebrating everyday or every hour. A 50 year break will give people the pent up feeling to want to let it all out at one go. The building up of a desire or expectation of something to come will make the event that much more enjoyable. How many of you have been caught in a situation when you have to let go but unable to, caught in the train, bus, in a meeting or half way in the highway or a long traffic jam? Imagine the explosive instant release and relief, after all the cumulated pressure, can be a most deserving experience

I heard many people have been storing up on their champagne and wine. Some were saying they will party all night out for that day. Some say they will cry in joy, hallelujah. Some say they will visit the places of worship to say thanks.

Never have Singaporeans been so excited by a coming event that would mean so much to them, almost, not Amos. It is really good that the people have something to look forward to, a great hope of jubilation, emancipation and change.

And with the whole island being in a celebration mood, the public places all nicely decorated, freebies and money to spend, this one in 50 year event better be good and better be real, and better come to the people. The people have waited for it for so long.

When the day comes, the streets would be full of people jumping in joy like children breaking out of parental control, getting their independence with the key at 21. I just can’t imagine the joy of the people in the streets. It would be just like the movie Independence Day, a people in celebration as one people, free, freedom and relief and a new beginning.

I too will be in the streets to join the party with champagne bottle in hand. It will be a celebration no Singaporean will ever forget, like a new child is born, on that fateful day. Yes, 50 years, and it is about time for a new star in the sky, A most welcome event about to happen and A most welcome child is here spreading the good news.

The day is coming. All the signs are there. Everything is moving and pointing to the day everyone is waiting for. Do not despair, there is hope. Darkness will soon give way to light and a new morning.

Mr RB, this celebration when PAP loses the coming GE.

Alternatively, half the parliament of opposition MPs.

@ RB:

This is a case of neurotic number fixation i.e. imparting certain numbers with "significance", made up entirely of whole cloth. This is a very common cultural trait in all cultures, but Asian cultures take neurotic number fixation seriously.

Certain numbers do have significance, for e.g. pi ≈ 3.14159265359....---the ratio of length of a circle's circumference to its diameter, e ≈ 2.718...---aka Euler's constant, c ≈ 3.00×108 m/s---the speed of light in a vacuum. These numbers are all significant because they're attributed to PROPERTIES OF NATURE and help to describe the natural world.

Other numbers like "golden numbers" (8888) or "unlucky numbers" (13 in western culture, 4 in Chinese culture), golden anniversary (50 years of marital stoicism), Silver Jubilee (25 years of some dubious nonsense), or buying 4D numbers gleaned from the registration of vehicles involved in fatal accidents, and of course NUMEROLOGY....all this is the produce of DELUDED MINDS and NEUROTIC PERSONALITIES; of ADULTS who believe in MAGIC and SUPERSTITION.

There is NO DIFFERENCE to Singapore if the celebration is for 49 or 51 or 48.9974 years. What the fuck?!?

However if you celebrate Singapore's 48.9974 anniversary, people will consider you quite mad. But if you celebrate Singapore 50, you are considered normal.

Anyway, Redbean is right: the masses will fall for this MASS DELUSION

No wonder the PAP always win. The Sheeple are so prone to allow their passions to overtake their sense of (occasional) logic and (rarely used) reason.

Fuck you for another 50 years, Singapore. You DESERVE it!

Please lah, if it didn't happen in 2011, it will never happen lah, even if it is once in 50 years event.

If RB has still not join the Sinkie opposition by now, he will never join lah, even though it may be only a once in a lifetime event for 66 year old RB. Tio bo, RB?

Virgo 49 9.23am pls note.........

It is very difficult for PAP to lose at the
coming GE.

As said before, PAP is very very active at all
corners of the island organising SG50 activities
and celebrations and plentiful of SG50 free gifts,
how not to win big big big.

Will the PAP votes cross the 70% mark with a 100%
PAP parliament?

Possible?

We shall see.

Cheers.

Don't be so sure. The pain inflicted on Amos and her parents are there for all to see. There is something very evil and wicked happening. Goodness shall triumph over evil.

Anon 10:48 a.m.

Very possible due to as follows:

1. Because the PAP of 2015 is much better than the PAP of 2011.
2. There are many more instant citizens now than in 2011.
3. The opposition now is still not ready to be govt, just like in 2011. And also more opposition parties now than in 2011, so the votes for opposition will for sure be split to the benefit of PAP. Still remember our 35% President? Don't be surprised if there are also 35% PAP MPs after next election.

I repeat, very possible, even without the SG50 free gifts.

Before the Demise of one old man, many haf claimed to have champagnes ready to celebrate the Announcement of his death.
Whence it did happen, the Opposite happened. There were weeping, kneeling, much eulogies and lots of gratitudes been expressed. The Long Queues of mourners for several days was not officially claimed to be a World Record though it could very well qualifies.
There was not a single sign of celebration though sporadically there were.those that said good riddance aloud.

I aay Sinkies are forever hopeful and fickle minded; liked alternative politicians jumping from ship to ship as well as Leaving and returning back to the party liked visiting country club.

Though the Next General Election is near, the Alternative Parties Members have yet to unite BUT did quite tge Opposites. There are also NO OPEN AND PUBLICISE INTERACTION AMONGST THEM. INSTEAD THERE ARE MORE NEW PARTIES FORMED BY EX-MEMBERS OF EXISTING PARTIES. THEN THERE ARE THE ON AND OFF OCCASIONAL CHANGING OF PARTY CHIEF iN THE ALTERNATIVE PARTIES.

All along, it has being the Social Political Activists that's being rallying the People mostly via the Social Media. A very minority do it on the Ground, however, they are insignificant in numbers and coverage ib areas.

There could be an upset IF THE RULERS MAKE ANY BLUNDER THAT PISS OFF THE PEOPLE ENMASS BEFORE THE GE, OTHERWISE, A 72% WIN FOR PAP AS FORCASTED BY A COMMENTER HERE IS HIGHLY POSSIBLE.

DO WISH THAT THE CHAMPAYNES ARE IN THE HOMES OF MANY and the Celebrations will last for many years.
