LKY’s last wish – demolish his home

The children of LKY have come out in the open to plead with the Singaporeans to fulfill their father’s last wish, that is to demolish the house that LKY lived and where the history of Singapore was crafted. And if the house cannot be demolished, no outsiders should be given access to it except his children.

If there is a monument worth preserving, it must be this house in Oxley Road. It definitely has more historical value than the House of Sun Yat Sen that was beautifully preserved for posterity or the Alkaff Mansion. It definitely has more touristy appeals than Sentosa or the Garden by the Bay. There will be more long queues to see this house if it is open to the public. This is where everything happened in the past that is Singapore today. Every stone, every nook and corner in the house is of great value to the people of Singapore and those who are interested in the life of LKY. His grandfather’s house in China has been turned into a shrine to worship a new deity in the name of Lee Kuan Yew.

It would be a real pity and a real loss to this country, his country, to destroy something so precious. This crime will be in the league of the Talibans demolishing the ancient Buddhist statues in the mountains. Historians and archaelogists are digging the grounds of Empress Place for bits and pieces of our history of yesteryears. Here there is a whole monument intact that deserved to be preserved and protected at all cost. It is so sad that it has to be demolished.

The last wish of a dead man must be respected. And this is no ordinary man, the founding father of modern Singapore. Let’s grant him his wish, even if we have to sacrifice a very important piece of our history. Find a another monument to name after him or built a new one, like a 100 meter statue at the Marina Barrage in the likes of the Statue of Liberty in New York to welcome the migrants to our shore.

Let the man rest in peace, let the house go. I am saying this with a heavy heart. Many would like to sit in deep meditation in the house to feel, to touch the walls and floors, furniture and crockery, sit on the chairs, lean on the tables, to breath the air and reconnect to the days and moments when the pioneering fathers were drafting out the future of this city state. How they argued and fought and how the best views prevailed. How the likes of LKY, Goh Keng Swee, Toh Chin Chye, Rajaratnam, Byrnes, Othman Wok, Lim Chin Siong, Lee Siew Choh etc etc and the whole gang huddling together to overthrow the colonial masters

Your wish shall be granted. RIP. No need to get up. It is a queer wish, but it is his last wish. Respect ok.

From the geomancy point of views, demolishing this house is the most stupid thing to do. While Tanjong Pagar is the seat of PAP's power base, this house is the seat of the Lee Family's fortune. Demolishing it is as good as demolish the good fengshui of the family.

Do not be too hasty in destroying it.

why..........................???

Hahaha............nearly fell off the chair.

Still laughing while typing this comment.

Must really salute you for your very creative imagination, proposing to build a 100m statue at the Marina Barrage in the likes of the Statue of Liberty in New York to welcome the migrants to our shore.

Don't play play!

Must must must respect Mr Lee last wish!

Still can't stop laughing........

Lee Hsien Loong, please for your sake and your descendants' sake, go and consult a fengshui master before you touch a single stone in the house. Your family's good fortune may depend on the existence of this house.

Where is our resident geomancer? Do you think it is a good idea to demolish this house?

Anonymous said...

Good idea RB. Now which minister or MP would bring this up in Parliament, a 100m statue of liberty in Sin City.

Knowing he listens to Fungshui, I am sure he knows the merit of allowing the house to remain or to demolish. Look at the blue Mandarin dress he wore the past one year, many believe it is made according to Fengshui

maybe demolishing the house IMMEDIATELY after his death is the BEST fengshui for the family and for Singapore.............

don't know don't anyhow talk lah...........

RB 11:49 am

Of course. If it was the late LKY's idea, it must be a good idea, tio bo?

Demolish LKY's house?
Heck.
Let's have a lucky draw.
Winner gets the chnace to burn LKY's house to the ground.
What's wrong with collecting more money?

Was putting more generals nearer to the crown prince also LKY's last wish? Without the old man holding the fort, the crown prince must be feeling insecure. One sidekick just went into the PMO's offce while another is helming the MSF. Now what the hell is MSF? Looks like the KGB and Gestapo now working together to work out strategies?

Fancy having so many generals and rear admirals in the cabinet. Are we under military rule as in Thailand?

LKY cannot rest in peace if his last wish also not respected lah. They are afterall just another piece of history. The world will be an end if we try to keep every piece of history.

Demolish LKY's house?
Where is the money going to come from?
Who is paying?

If LKY really wanted his old house demolish, why didn't he do it 5 years ago?
LKY is very good at forecasting you know.

Destroying the house would be a good way to wipe away anything that he doesn't want us to know about.

Now they have his face on the S$50.00 note.

Love him or loathe him, you have to have him in your wallets unless you are as poor as the temple mouse.

No wonder my friend stood in the rain watching his hearse go by as he will be rewarded with many many many fifty dollars notes.

A tall statue facing Malaysia would be nice ;-)

Anonymous said...

And Malaysia will erect a statue for Mahathir facing him : )

Anonymous said...

Malaysia will erect TWO statutes of Mahatir like Petronas Twin Towers.
Both statutes will be taller than LKY's statutes.
I propose LKY's statutes be located in Johor.
The same place where Khaw Boon Wan say we should put our still living but old parents.

It is very strange for a Great Leader to want to demolish his house, and deprive all others, except his own children and descendents, a peek into it.

Immediately, the first thought that came to my mind (may be many other people's minds too) is:

Could there be something inside the house that cannot see day-light or be exposed to public scrutiny. What are the secrets inside that house that need to be protected so badly?

The next thought that came to my mind is:

Why, after staying there for more than 50 years, was he not happy with the house/building/location? Did that house caused a lot of problems to him and his dear wife? Was it why he had spent most of his time at the Istana, sharing the space of the President?

The third thought that came to my mind is:

That house of his had given him good luck, brought the PAP good luck, and the people of Singapore good luck. Won't its destruction bring misfortune to his Descendents, to PAP and to Singapore as a whole?

The fourth thought that came to my mind is:

Won't it be a sheer waste to demolish it? He could have donated it to the State, to use it for the education of Singaporeans or to serve as a tourist attraction, or as a remembrance of him and the early struggles of the PAP?

The fifth thought that came to my mind is:

Why was he so selfish? Such action (of demolishing his house immediately), to my mind, reflects a selfish small man, as contrast with all his greatness that many people are talking about.

The last, but not least, thought that came to my mind is:

Is the house haunted with the spirit of Dr Wong Ming Yang, the First Wife of his eldest son who is the present PM Lee? She had died so young, in her prime of life. Is her soul still wandering around that house? Could that explain why he could not sleep at night but only sleeps during the day most of the time?

There are other thoughts I have. But the six above will suffice at the time being.

Amazing Grace
By John Newton (1725-1807)

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall profess, within the Vail,
A life of joy and peace.

Chorus:

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

I wish that after Lee Kuan Yew and X-president SR Nathan died, both will demolish and destroy everything that could remind others of themselves.

EACH TIME ANYTHING ABOUT THE TWO IS MENTOONED,
I AM REMINDED OF THE ATROCITIES OF THE JAPANESE IMPERIAL ARMY.

IT HURTS AND IT HURTS BADLY. LEE KUAN YEW KNEW THE HAUNTING HISTORY.

SR NATHAN TOO, SHOULD KNOW.

Amazing LEE
How GREAT the GOD,
That saved a DAFT like me.
I once was RICH, but now am POOR,
COULD SEE, but now am blind.

T'was LEE that taught my heart to fear.
And LEE, my WEALTH ERASED.
How precious did that LEE appear
The hour I first believed.

Lee Kuan Yew was a most clever man amongst the Cleverest Men.
In fact, I did not get to know one better than him in History.

I believe he had reasons for making any arrangements. Having got one wish denied, his other wish to have his home demolish could be derailed.

Having his wishes unfulfilled was actually his own mistakes, he could have them done before he left for good.
When he was alive, his words were taken as Decree and Edict.
I am sure that in his mind, no one will dare to not act according to his instructions.
But, he failed to read the Minds of those closest to him.

Lamentable.

I hope Starbucks open a cafe there, with free Wifi of course. Starbuck's is nothing more than a "chichi kopitiam".

What better than to write shit on the internet and browse Sammyboy than to sit in the ex-dictator's lair and whack out shitty comments and articles online?

This might be "small justice", but it still rocks. Imagine defaming the old guy whilst sitting in his house and sipping overpriced coffee? A true Mastercard Moment lah.

1. Hip 11" MacBook Air: $1200

2. Overpriced coffee with free WiFi: $8

3. Exorbitant piece of "luxury" cake: $7

4. Walloping LKY online from inside his own house: PRICELESS!
