PAP reviewing the CPF Scheme?

The CPF Scheme is a damn good saving scheme gone wrong. If the scheme has not be subject to so many abuses and misuses, today the retirees would be smiling in contentment in their twilight years, living off the savings they have set aside for a life time of work and toil. We are about the biggest savers as a people, saving as much as 50% of our income for retirement. How could this be not enough? How could this, with other savings, be not enough for our retirement?

Anyone wants to know why? Now Chuan Jin is going to review the CPF Minimum Sums to make it more flexible as the govt suddenly realized that not everyone has the same need or money problem. So a lot of efforts and resources will be devoted to make Minimum Sum more flexible, designed to the needs of different groups of individuals.

Is this not pathetic? One of the greatest and bestest saving schemes in trouble, money not enough! Anyone wants to know why money not enough? Think HDB prices. Anyone wants to scratch the pimples when the system is cancerous? Anyone wants to know what is the cause of the cancer?

This is like the Stock Exchange, nothing is wrong, very fine. Just massage the little thing, and all is fine. Why is everyone buying pimple creams when the body is dying of cancer?
If the hole is so big, no matter how much is put into the savings, nothing much will be left if the hole is not patched. The tweaking of the Minimum Sum which is not the problem but a symptom of how nonsensical the CPF Scheme has become is but just a diversion.

Deal with the real problems and causes that are eating away at the people’s savings. There should not be any minimum sums schemes at all. Return the money to the people as it was intended when the Scheme was first conceived. The CPF savings are the people’s money and it must be returned to the rightful owners, nothing less.

Kopi Level - Blue, thank you.

Yes.need to review to make it more perfect.
Cheongkong all cpf tax in exchange for free healthcare.Rich kena cheongkong more and poor kena cheongkong lesser .
All goes into a healthcare fund to give Sinkies free healthcare for life till cremated.
No more worry for falling sick and paying high medical treatment fees.
Can also cover funeral bill so can kick the bucket without worrying.
Sinkie like me can live happily and die without worry.
I can work till i am bed ridden for my daily 3 meals.Want go Batam, work for it by contributing more working hours.
No need pay me million dollar salary for this idea.Sinkies sure happy and we can boast that we have the best free healthcare for its citizen.
Win win situation.

The people are screaming for the return of their CPF. They refused to listen and went on their way to talk about making amendments to Min Sums.

The people crying about foreigners taking away our PME jobs, they went to restrict foreign workers coming in.

This kind of cheap tricks cannot be used over and over again. The people can see and know what the fuck is all about.

Whose needs are more..looking after the citizens or feeding temasick n gic..or..let's have the best of both worlds...print more money..to switch off the funding taps to Temasick will result in double whammies..they no longer have cheap funds inflow n at same time need to repay what they previously took..hehe..watch out for the biggest n mostest iPo in Singapore history..temasick's flotation... How to pay for it?? With your cpf ..of course..hehehe

Good idea, first float Temasek, next float GIC. The island can be sinking at the same time.

"Return the money to the people as it was intended when the Scheme was first conceived."
RB

As kaki lang Teochew Ah Hia already said, and it is worth repeating, majority (aka 60%) Sinkies are very scared they accidentally vote PAP out in a GE because WP is not ready to be govt.

Always remember what Ah Hia said and there will be no doubt that the CPF money will not be returned to the people as it was intended when the Scheme was first conceived.

Rehiring age raised to 67. Sure you can have some of the CPF, but you need to keep working :-)

PAP Millionaires in Parliament should learn to relax.
Singaporeans have worked hard all our lives to support PAP policies.
PAP is the reason why we choose to be Singaporeans.
PAP. Please remember.
Singaporeans are on your side.

When Chee Soon Juan asked 'Where is our money?' it struck a raw nerve. Now you understand.

@ wishful thinking, still clueless, redbean:

>> The CPF savings are the people’s money and it must be returned to the rightful owners, nothing less.

CPF is not your money lah. It is essentially a pay-in-advance, state administered, self-funded, ponzi-style retirement scheme: nothing more, nothing less.

Anyway, best of luck getting "your money back". It ain't gonna happen ;-)

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

The only way for the people to get their money back is to have a change of govt. There is no other way.

Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️ said...

Good luck on that too ;-)

According to you: FIRST must change govt (actually I think you mean the party which forms govt) --- possible, but long shot. Best probable outcome in a close fight: COALITION govt between PAP and who else gets a significant number into parliament.

Here's the rub: you gotta to get these fuckers into parliament, not so easy lah. It's not only voting them in, but the have to actually get a place on the ballot, then run IN the race and not be "disqualified" along the way.

SECOND: once they're in parliament, they have to be able to convince the rest of the freeloaders there to APPROVE releasing the CPF funds. Again, not so easy. Probably won't happen.

redbean fails to see the magnitude of the objective. Suka suka just sprout words : "Just Change govt".

OK. I want to see, please indulge and entertain me :-)

This IB working extra hard today to earn his $2.

The problem with redbean is you never think of the consequences of your suggestion, the aftermath.
That's why there is no strong opposition capable to take over.

You say return all money. You never think who is going to subsidise those people who squander all their money before its times to kick the bucket? Our future generations to pay?

You say we shouldn't be fearful of change of govt, citing Jokowi. Indo is different in many ways, race, population, history, geography, economy etc etc, what works for them may not work for Sin. And the jury is still out whether he can overcome the infighting with Golkar.

The issue is not change for the sake of change; the issue is will your life be better with the alternative, by looking at their track record.

There once lived a man who only ate chicken rice in one shop in Singapore.

This man eats there everyday. He's been eating there ever since he could remember..... for the last fifty years. He even continues to eat there when the portions got smaller and smaller thru the years and most of the regular patrons had moved on.

In the past, the man could at least be sure a chicken breast would come his way at least once a week. A whole leg if he was luckier. That was a very long time ago....he would often be heard lamenting.

These days, he considers himself lucky if he even manages to get a chicken neck or the fleshy part of the chicken backside. Most of the time, he just makes do with scraps and bits of the eyes, lips and feet of what he believes to be chicken....though it is widely rumored the chicken rice proprietor regularly substitutes run down cats that he picks up from the ECP that he regularly passes on as chicken meat.

From time to time, the man would complain about the lousy portions....non existent customer service.....and cardboard flavor chicken.

This despite the chicken rice proprietors unabashed boast, his shop served the best chicken rice in the whole of Singapore and possibly the whole wide world.

One day when the man was complaining as usual to a passerby about his favorite topic. This time something about the owner using a chicken to wipe his ass. As he ran our of toilet paper that caused a bout of food poisoning in AMK.

Someone suggested, why don't you try eating in the new chicken rice shop down the road.

The man suddenly got very agitated and angry and said to all - are you suggesting that I should stop eating in the chicken rice shop of nearly fifty years???? I will have you all know....the issue is not change for the sake of change; the issue is will my portions get bigger and juicier with the alternative. He went on to mention, the new chicken rice shop did not even have so much as a track record to speak of....since it was new! Unlike his regular chicken rice shop that has nearly fifty years of experience serving chicken rice.

A wise man who overheard the conversation mentioned,

If you don't even bother to try.....how will you ever know which chicken rice shop is better.

Not long after that.....the man who was particularly fond of chicken rice choked to death one fine day while eating in the only chicken rice shop he had ever known all his life.

His last words before he departed the world was....we shouldn't be so fearful of change.

The chicken rice proprietor could not be contacted for elaborate further on the mysterious cause of death....it was business as usual.

'You say return all money. You never think who is going to subsidise those people who squander all their money before its times to kick the bucket? Our future generations to pay?'

This is the kind of silly reasoning that daft Sinkies are made to believe in. How many people are going to squander their money away? Are you going to pay for them?

You ask who, nobody will be paying for them just like those who cannot pay up their S&CC and received legal letters.

This silly reasoning cannot be used to punish 2m CPF holders. Please, think about what you have been fed with and ask if they are logical. Tomorrow they say one guy went to the casino and lose all his money, then they say to protect everyone, all the bank accounts will be frozen.

You mean you are going to accept that?

RB, why waste your breath talking to fools? These are the people who also believe Spore would be in deep trouble if PAP loses. Only PAP know how to govern this country and no one else can.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:10, for sure no one would ask you to pay for someone else. You cannot afford even to feed yourself. Please don't think foolishly of yourself.

Where is the money going to come from?
Is the PAP government raiding our Singapore reserves?
========================

In March, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew announced that the BSEP would be enhanced.

He said the Government would fund 1,000 new buses instead of the original 550.

All 1,000 buses will be on the road by 2017. The cost of the programme is expected to double from the original $1.1 billion.

Besides purchasing the buses, the programme pays for operating costs, such as drivers' salaries, for 10 years.

How do you know this guy only ate chicken rice?

Maybe he has been eating duck rice, suckling pig, soufflé and abalone?

Some poor guys always think they are rich. The rich ones are those that are earning the millions quietly and making the poor guys think they are rich.

Who to pay for those who squandered their money whoa? Talk until so big. All the money got suck away also cannot see.

Anonymous said...

The only way is to elect Teochew Ah Hia and he will stop all these squandering. WP will pay themselves a pittance and employ talented people who will be paid more than them.

Nobody will be required to pay service fees (or medical fees) if they don't want. Our future generations will not be affected. Money will come from somewhere. If country deficit never mind.

The 40% will be made millionaires. Everyday eat drumstick.

I am amazed how silly these IBs are. They surrendered their rights to think and just keep parroting what their masters told them even to the extent of selling their mothers away. They could not see that.

Sinkies are greatest suckers lah. After paying almost 40% tax (cpf is indirect tax) still cannot retire but have to work as taxi drivers and cleaners to make ends meet. Furthermore, they still vote the party that makes them the world greatest suckers election after election.

No one is saying you have to eat in the NEW chicken rice shop down the road forever and ever.

Tell me. What is there to fear, but fear itself?

Do you mean to say by just ordering a plate of chicken rice in the new shop down the road.

You will be like the proverbial butterfly that flaps its little cute wings in Peru that triggers a cataclysmic global extinction event - where the heavens will open up like the jaws of death and throw out great balls of fire on the world? Do you mean to tell me, there will be riots in the street over one plate of chicken rice? That your HDB will lose all it's value overnight. Your employer will pack up like a traveling circus troupe and leave you destitute and jobless.... and your daughters and wife's will have to work as maid abroad....is a teeny weeny bit of change really so horrifying....petrifying.....mortifying.

Come...come...let us all be reasonable.

After all if you don't like the chicken rice in the new shop down the road....what is to stop you from going back to eat in your regular chicken rice shop that you are so accustomed too.

Tell me.....is it just possible that you have painted yourself into a corner?

Could you by any chance be afraid of change.....

Don't be so afraid....there is nothing to fear except fear itself.

"Could you by any chance be afraid of change....."

Sinkies also very kia one lah. Everything also kia one. So very difficult (but not impossible) the ruling party will change lah.

Actually return all is near impossible lah. Return 80% is resonable enough.

why got min sum, why got monthly withdrawals instead of lump sum?

Why. why why.

simple. because got some idiots. spoil market. withdraw one time everything. think fucking rich. go get mistress. spend finish the money. then hey. 70 years old. no more money. what to do? WHAT TO DO? go beg govt for money? like a stupid right? well. this is reality. hence the govt take that option out. no such option for you because you cant fucking think.

CPF is a fail-safe. the amount of money in it is obviously not enough to last your entire fucking life. the payout per mth is ridiculously low. if you are solely reliant on cpf during your twilight years. i am sorry. you are going to have a bad time.

i don't even know why people are arguing about cpf. where the fuck can you get guaranteed 4% interest. guaranteed. you tell me. i also want to buy also. i am not saying its high. but i am not saying its low either. its relative. a possible improvement is to tie that interest to returns from both gic and temasek. than when returns are negative you dont fucking complain. because there was a time when you got 16% returns.
