Little India riot – Alcohol main contributory factor

In today’s media it was reported that the main contributory factor to the Little India riot was alcohol. On further reading of the report with comments made by the lead investigator, Adam Fashe Huddin, looks like a talented new citizen, it appears that the main contributor to the riot is the amazon woman time keeper who bullied the petite and nice little foreign workers and rough handled them till they held a grudge against her. The other main factor is the ah pek bus driver who ‘was culpable because he did not shift the vehicle to free Mr Sakthivel from under the wheel, said Mr Adam’. And the other main factor is definitely the police.

The police committed two serious misdeeds. First, by pushing the crowd back to aid in removing the body under the wheel, they ‘inadvertently created the impression that they were more keen to protect their own in shielding the bus driver and time keeper from the rioters than treating the deceased who was trapped under the tyre of the bus’. If the police are not going to protest against this kind of remark, I will. Our police have been the most impartial force as far as discharging their duties is concerned. In fact if there is any accusation of the police force, it would be more on how they treated the foreigners better than the locals. My objection is that Sinkies are selfish asses that would protect themselves first than to protect their own kind. This culture transcends across the whole spectrum of the society. That is why they are being beaten and discriminated by foreigners in every corner of their country and could not do anything about it. To suggest that Sinkies will protect their own kind is the most ridiculous and laughable statement made here.

The second fault of the police was that they did managed the riot well and ‘it is possible that the rioters may similarly be emboldened if the police officers had moved in and taken action ineffectively, he added’.

The nice foreign workers were so nice that they were not at fault at all, and definitely not the cause of the rioting. And neither was the govt a contributor for allowing so many villagers from the 3rd World civilized countries to be here in the hundreds of thousands and allowing them to gather in a small area.

If this incident were to happen in Saudi Arabia or in the Middle East, would there be a COI like this being conducted and the rioters are not the main contributor of the rioting? Maybe yes, maybe no, as the rioters are so nice people and the Saudi’s too will be very nice and very fair to them.

Tiok lah. Blame alcohol as the main factor.

Lesson learnt. In future try to blame solids, liquids and gases, if possible.

Being non human beings, they also don't feel offended and also won't fight back one, tio bo?

In Saudi, these people would be punished. Saudi protect their own citizens unlike here in Singapore where the government protects foreigners instead.

Heard a story earlier, there was this Ang Mo parked his car in front of a supermarket, on a proper lot of course. Then came a drunkard Saudi national who crashed his car on the parked Ang Mo's car. The case was mentioned in court and the Saudi judge actually fined the Ang Mo because according to him if the Ang Mo did not come to saudi, there would not have such an accident in the first place.

Think we should learn from saudi

What part of "Pro Alien" in the Pro Alien Party don't you understand?

Pro Alien means anti-Singaporean.
It means not working for the benefit of Singaporeans.

And still you want to vote for these type of people?

RB

100% tiok. Especially the smart Sinkies.

Because smart Sinkies will rather make money for themselves than to join the opposition to form a better alternative to PAP for the good of their own kind.(Sinkies lah)

And I think PAP also knows. That's why they create policies and conditions which enable smart Sinkies to make lots of money.

Why am I getting this impression that the COI is all about hanging the police?

Anonymous said...

This is a good example of the one in the centre that did the screwing and the innocent balls that did nothing got hanged.

No shit Sherlock! I said this way back on 9 Dec 2013, the day after the riot.

You are talking about Indians -- culturally and socially, Indian men like to drink. Biologically however, they get drunk quickly and stay drunk longer due to a genetic mutation in a dehydrogenase enzyme which oxidises (by reduction) the alcohol thus lessening the neurological impact (getting and staying tripping-balls DRUNK)

Anon 11.14am // This is a good example of the one in the centre that did the screwing .......... //

This is the "HARD" truth lah! Tio BO? U tell me lah? Not "HARD" lembut lembut how to "screw"? Truth need to be "hard" to "screw" right? Pray tell which chio bu like "not hard"? But also pray tell who like "hard" truth most? Why? U tell me lah, won't u?

Indians are prone to intoxication is almost a well known fact. However, the Panel Members will never be like them. They will not be drunk or foolish to believe that alcohol caused the Riot.
At least they shall be able to note that the Rioters did not fight amongst themselves, harmed any bystanders nor damaged any private vehicles and properties except those belong to the State. It clearly showed that they were sober and knew what they did. Those enforcement officers and the many others who testified earlier, none mentioned the Rioters were drunk. The COI Panel cant be oblivious to this fact.

Let us see who will be the more sobre ones when the Result is out.

Who do You choose? The COI Panel or the Alcohol?

You don't need alcohol to be drunk. We will see how intelligent or otherwise is this COI.

Minister already say he can smell the alcohol one day after the riot.
So why am I not surprised?

@patriot:

Actually many Asian ethnic groups carry the ??? (I can't remember the name) dehydrogenase gene mutation. i.e. most Asians can't metabolise alcohol like the Mat Salehs can.

When Mat Salehs get drunk and fight, they win wars and conquer cuntrees.

When Asians get drunk and fight, they burn police cars, then get arrested :-)

Well, the chief investigator is just parroting the official line to protect the government from blame. Any idiot will know that the workers who he interviewed would not dare say that they were unhappy or mistreated. If alcohol was the major factor, then we would have had many riots given the history of the gathering on Sundays. Another idiot claimed that we provide leading world class accommodation for the workers. We have 750,000 workers, we have 200,000 world class dormatory beds and so the balance 550000 workers stay atthe Shangri-la, I guess. Untill we put more opposition in parliament we will be screwed over and by then our reserves would be untraceable like MH370

- this is what coi is all about. try to blame something that cannot defend itself. coi is set up to hide the real truth and find a easy to blame scapegoat.

Anonymous said...

The scapegoat is looking like the men in blue. This is looking like the hanging of Lim Chee Onn.

Anonymous said...

If the Men In Blue get blamed by the Men In White, then they do not qualify to be upholders of Laws and Justice.
They better be Eunuches to the Folks In White.

To Matilah

It is more like when Asians are drunk, they fuck around or get fucked.
Pardon me for the Candid Remark.

Ah. You are making a cognitive error -- due to the fact that human beings base their deductions on preconceived ideas.

Every "event" has a statistical representation on whether it would occur or not. Take the statement : "Driving fast is a significant factor in car crashes". And then they collect data, analyze them and get some correlation.

However we do not have statistical data regarding the relationship between alcohol and rioting. Like the driving example, speed is a contributing factor; and in the riot event, alcohol is a contributing factor. And there are many other factors to consider, and in some cases they are interrelated.

When it comes to mob violence, there are some studies which ask the question: "When does a disparate collection of individuals become a group, and what would cause the individuals in that group to act in concert to achieve some outcome?" As with every "phase change" there must be a trigger -- something added to the system to cause it to be unstable and shift state.

IMO, alcohol was a significant factor, and the trigger was the adverse reaction (shock, horror) to the hapless guy who was rolled by the bus -- shock --> disbelief --> full awareness of what just happened --> anger --> pure rage expressed in violence.

Even when we are at our most rational state, our emotions drive us. Emotions form the basis of our on-going personal narrative;our moment-to-moment experience of being here and alive.

Emotions are easily triggered. They have to be, or we will be dead. However sometimes when emotions are triggered (negative state) our consequent actions can make a bad situation worse -- especially if we're in a group, and hell-bent on REVENGE.

Add to that alcohol, which in excess can limit or shut down the prefrontal cortex of the brain.

The prefrontal cortex is responsible for executive function -- prediction, planning, putting data and "facts" in their proper context... etc etc., and one very important function: IMPULSE CONTROL, especially delaying or resisting a payoff. e.g. if someone flips you a bird (the trigger) because you accidentally cut him off in traffic, you might have to use your IMPULSE CONTROL to control yourself from the urge to "punish him back".

If you are drunk or stoned however, your "diminished capacity" will shut off your impulse control, and you will react from pure emotion. You feel indignation. Then anger. And then you act. Cut to next scene: in handcuffs being led from the patrol car into the station, and then the cell.

A trip to any KTV or karaoke will confirm your theory immediately :-)

My fav: Orchard KTV in Orchard Towers. I like.

My prefrontal cortex completely shuts down when I go there. :-)

Matilah Singapura:

Me does not think that folks at Orchaed KTV, Geylang, Boat Quay or else ever got drunk. Proof is that tgere was no reported riot.
Those watching the Cricket Match were drunk because they rioted.
Anyway, like the Way You explained how the Brains work.
But, defining riot as caused by mass drunkardness is just too queer for me, personally speaking.

Good nite.

Btw, anyone ever see or heard drunkards acting in unison or co-ordinating their acts? Lol
Do kindly enlighten.

patriot

Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️ said...

@patriot:

Acting in concert or "the many as one" is rooted in the fact that we are autonomous individuals AND we are also social animals.

This behaviour is observable: people worship, dine, and mingle. People form teams to work on projects. In dance clubs, scores of people all enjoy their individual selves by dancing together, to the same beat. At comedic performances, people laugh together at the same time.

No one is in control. Yet every individual acts as if they are "coordinated" and "under control" like a bunch of puppets. Group human behaviour is an example of emergence, a phenomenon in nature that is constantly being studied by science.

The better you understand group dynamics, the closer you get to becoming a Master Political Manipulator, like the PAP. I'm not kidding, they are excellent at conning the voters.

patriot said...

Hahaha.....

Drunkards act in unison and in concert. You kidding me early in the morning Matilah Singapura!

I accept thr Joke but maintain that defining riot as caused by drunkardness is mad and ridiculous.

As for collective behaviours, ot is commonly described as birds of the same feathers flock together.

Political manipulators are experts at psyching the masses are beyond doubt, especially the Rogue Regimes. Most, if not all are folks with little or no conscience.

Your mention of PAP as a master manipulator and ultimate conmen organization may not get much agreement from most Sinkies, more than 60% had different opinion against You for almost 5 decades.
However, me concurs with You in this instance.

Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️ said...

@patriot:

You have misunderstood. No one is saying that drunkenness CAUSED the riot. The COI maintains that alcohol was the MAIN contributing factor -- not THE cause. I'm saying that alcohol IS a significant factor; but to zero in and label it as 'main' is a bit of a stretch, IMO. However in the other extreme, one can't say that alcohol had no influence on the event.

Obviously not too many in the COI have at least some working knowledge of affective neuroscience and human behaviour -- especially in large groups.

And so it turns out that the post mortem becomes a blame game -- everyone passing the buck, and NO ONE understanding what is going on in the brains -- function, structure, neural pathways and correlates...nothing.

And therefore they all look like bloody fools who think they "know it all", but in actual fact these arrogant ignoramuses haven't even begun to UNDERSTAND fucking Jack Shit.

Wish others will share my faith in them.
