Foreigners improving their taste

They used to congregate in the ‘sua teng’ or rural area. After being here long enough, they are beginning to appreciate what is good taste. And they are moving into the Orchard Road area, the prime district of the rich and famous. They are now going for the branded stuff and getting close to the rich and famous.

The latest report said their favourite hangouts are Devonshire Road, Leonie Hill, Cairnhill Circle, and Cavenagh Road. Oh, not to forget, the famous Oxley Road. They are not only rubbing shoulders and feasting with the rich and famous but also the powerful.

Actually not all the foreigners have developed such exquisite taste and pangs for the who’s who of Singapore. This fad is solely limited to the Dengue type. They have infested Orchard Road, moving away from Bedok Reservoir when the water is too rich with human flavor, a wise choice, and from HDB and industrial estates and construction sites.

Oh there is another type, the Chikungunya, has also moved from the industrial site of Sungei Kadut to the Holland and Bukit Timah area. They are also developing a taste for the wealthy Sinkies. They must be tired of the tasteless and smelly foreign workers in the ‘sua teng’..

We must celebrate their newly acquired exquisite taste. They have arrived.

redbean's xenophobia is alive an kicking. Good to know.

I particularly enjoy his tinge of green, wherein he allows the reader a brief glimpse of his envy over the upward mobility of the "new arrivals" -- who, IMO are ENTITLED to their upward mobility from sheer hard work, application and the "can-do" spirit of individual enterprise.

U Jelly Brah?

It is called upward mobility.
Sinkies deserve it, so do others.
Move North is Up.
Move South is Down.
But Matilah will disagree.

Matilah, even the main media have avoided using this xenophobic tagline. The xenophobia now is foreigners fucking up Sinkies. So when xenophobia is raised, it is meant to be the other way.

If this is not stopped, the anger will blow up one day. With social media highlighting how Sinkies have been on the receiving end, they can't hide it anymore.

Sinkies will continue to blow the whistle to remove the veil of ignorance. How could they be victims of xenophobia in their own country and they dare not raise their voice and objection?

Foreigners are not "fucking up" the locals lah.

Bottom line: foreigners are motivated and competitive. Locals are not, or less so.

Locals still waiting for their govt to come down from heaven in golden chariots to "save them".

Dream on lah. In Singapore, money talks, bullshit walks.

On the internet, we each are our own Media company" -- a fact the PAP absolutely HATES. Well, too fucking bad. I dun need "editorial" from the Lame Scream Media. I can editorialise. You can editorialise...we all editorialise, thus rendering the Lame Scream Government Fellating Media an anachronistic dinosaur.

P.S. I can understand the natural human tendency to ENVY. It can't be helped -- we all feel that at some time.

I know. I have PRC and Indian clients living luxuriously on Sentosa. To them $1 million per annum in rent for a villa at Capella is no problem. Add to that Ferrari or Lambo in the garage, plus gorgeous "companions". Do I feel envy? OF COURSE. But I'm also happy that they are successful and that they are my clients.

Mixed feelings lah. We all have to deal with them.

Come on matilah
Singaporeans are just
envious of the fortunes
of their Rulers.
Cannot meh!

Some are not even envious,
they are just wondering what
the elites do with their fortunes.
Do You know?

@1125:

"Envy" like all emotions are simply SIGNALS.

If you are a scientist or engineer, you have to first find out whether it is SIGNAL or it is NOISE in any data set.

If it is NOISE, you just ignore it -- the importance is merely statistical. But for real SIGNAL, you have then to decide how you are going to interpret the data to guide your next actions.

i.e. Emotions can motivate you to make "good" or "bad" choices. You figure it out. You decide.

Matilah is stretching his imagination too thin. It is the kind of sneaky things that they are doing to get their people here for jobs and blocking Sinkies from them that is the real problem. Sinkies are now like domesticated animals that have forgotten how to fight for their rights and turf, how to find food and defend their families.

In the face of animals from the wild, all still fresh with the animal instinct for survival, the daft Sinkies don't stand a chance. And worse, they didn't even know what is happening, why and who have been snatching food from their table.

This is nothing about envy.

That's right. The problem is their own making. Become too fat and lazy, to complacent...only listen to the "good stuff".

So don't blame the foreigners. They came because they were ALLOWED to come. No one "forced" them.

>> This is nothing about envy.

I'm not as "scared" of human nature like you and everyone who is religious. There is nothing "evil" in the emotions you feel.

The worst thing you can do is to DENY you are experiencing certain emotions. ENVY over the success of others is NORMAL.

"Thou shalt not covet" is a fucked up commandment. It causes people to feel "guilty", where there is no reason to feel guilty, as this is a natural reaction.

There is nothing to be ashamed about or guilty over simple BIOLOGICAL processes, which have evolved over BILLIONS OF YEARS to make us WHAT we are.

WHAT we are is not a choice. WHO we become is.

Actually, it is the opposite. I like to lay it on THICK. If I am going to bullshit, I won;t be satisfied with only a thin layer. I want it thick, and gooey and smelly ;-)

Pls do not forget that the current party is a pro ahneh party. The word xenophobia is a kick in the ass and thus ban like chewing gum. Hope the voters know what to do before it is too late.

Being pro ahneh has nothing to do with ENVY. The party can be pro local but why chose to be pro ahneh? Locals stink and ahnehs do not? Its all because of the caste system.

This thread was meant for the mosquitoes in Orchard Rd and Bukit Timah area but somehow becomes something else.
