Xenophobia frenzy in Singapore

The anti foreigner trend is gaining momentum in this city. The intolerance of foreigners is becoming second nature and openly flouted by the perpetrators in job advertisements. A few cases have been quoted with many violations sent to the MOM who are now investigating. The victims of this xenophobic outlash are furious and are standing up in protest and taking matters into their own hands. They are doing their own investigations and feeding the whistleblowing section of the MOM with more cases of outrageous and demeaning discriminations against the Sinkies. They know that if they don’t help themselves, they can only expect lip services and nothing will happen.

Yes, the victims of xenophobia in this city state are the citizens, the Sinkies. It is true, the citizens are quickly becoming an absolute minority if the trend is not stop or reverse. There will soon be more foreigners in the city state and they may think that the Sinkies are foreigners. The following are examples of job advertisements that have been posted in the social media and the respective CEOs have made apologies and retracted them. They are only the tip of the iceberg.

1. FST, a British firm, in its advert for an Art Director, ‘Must have Singapore residency(PR) status or PEP visa status.’

2. Randstad, a foreign recruitment company looking for a Merchandiser Planner, ‘The position is open to candidates who are not Singapore citizens or PRs.’

3. La Fondue Swiss Restaurant that wanted to recruit a Pinoy chef and proudly claimed to have a 100% Pinoy crew and Pinoy working environment.

What is happening? Sinkies are xenophobic or victims of xenophobia in their own country when discrimination against them is open and blatant, without the need to be polite and to disguise for fear of offending the Sinkies. Where is the sensitivity that is demanded from the Sinkies to be understanding and kind to the foreigners when the foreigners are bloody rude and abusive and discriminating against Sinkies?

Why like dat?

The thing that raises our ire the most is why must such blatant wrongdoing against native citizens be "discovered" and pointed out by the man in the street?

Surely, in such a tension charged employment situation in Sinkingpoor, there must be a specialized department in the MOM to scrutinize all ads and monitor the activities of recruitment agencies especially the foreign ones for any irregularities?
And this ministry is now run by an ex military man who is supposed to be precise and look at the micro as well as the macro picture?

Do something about it and he might not need to have the word 114"acting" in front of his job title.

Hi Pissant Parade, welcome to the blog.

I think they are lack of manpower. Also it could be a way of encouraging the people to fight for their own rights and interests, to stand up for themselves and not to depend on the govt to do everything.

So the people must speak up for themselves, go and investigate and keep the MOM informed. They are quite busy you know and not paid so much.

What to speak..when the 87 WP=PAP MPs dare not voice this out...and happily collecting their $16,000 a month allowance..

It may help a bit by sending a couple more voices to provide check and balance but not really a lot as far as one's livelihood is concern.

I think Sinkies already lost all their power lah.

Lost the power to fight job discrimination against Sinkies. Of course Sinkies can kpkb but in the end the jobs will still be given to foreigners.

And Sinkies also lost the power to be a strong opposition ready to be govt.

And as a result, also lost the power to vote out the PAP.

So to sum up, Sinkies simply lost, except those smart ones who are able to make lots of money.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw the report in the new paper(friday 18 oct).

The front page report is headlined " White with rage " and show an angry angmo cyclist showing his two fingers.

This Aussie angmo who is here for 14 years admitted to confronting drivers in two separate incidents because the drivers showed no respect for his rights.

Where is the xenophobia RB talked about. The local daft sinkie are so toleramt of all the aggressive foreigners that we are in danger of being subsumed!

Our MOM Minister siad be critical by sll means but be civil.

Xenophobia, when did we become to this, i could remember us well-coming the 30 over thousand hongkies into our society without or practically no whimp, could it be the leaders?, Frankly the 2nd tier leaders are a plain slade of their yesterdays years foreleaders, the likes of Goh K S, the genius that turn Sin into a industrial power house and Dhanabalan's single handedly running Temasek.

In the Men in White by Goh C T, he said, Dhana's leaving was that he was not confortable with the action that PAP took, George Yeo said it all when he lost the election, that there has to be changes, in recent times, this is becoming clearer that many are put off by the high handleless, arrogance and incompetent PAP.

The 2nd tier is weak, non can or will shine in the footsteps of the early leaders, the problem with the ability in attracting talented leaders might not lie in Singapore, but in the very roots of the ruling party.

We may never see the likes of Dhalabalan again but, that may not be a bad thing as if pap lost, the opposition may gain the support and then their addition of talented leaders.

Xenophobia might not be a bad thing after all, as to let people have a clear decision where their faith will lie in future.

Wonder why these foreign companies are so bold to put up such statements. Do they know something that Sinkies don't, that they could get away with it? Fear not?

They beat up taxi drivers. Foreign cyclist threatening to beat up local driver because of honking when they blocked the road.

Why like that? It is because the majority sinkies entrusted the country to a pack of wolves. Very soon, they will all be living underground if they still continue to buy those bullshits.

Sinkies need to send a plethora of outspoken check and balance voices into parliament, people such as KJ, CSJ, NS, TJS, BP, JAC, AYG, TSL, SC and yet to be unearthed quality candidates before next GE ...... So far this role may be too heavy and beyond current co-drivers alone .......

Whether they are privy to any information may be another matter. What is important is for them to make such follies so that Sinkies can drag them to the relevant authorities attention.

Sometimes, to highlight and put certain problems under limelight, such extreme, ridiculous, blatant, discriminating, hare-brain ...etc acts are timely occurrences to let relevant parties see for themselves whether have they invited "tigers and wolves" into the "lambs pasture"? Is a "Frankenstein Monster" in the making?

It is certainly not very clever to commit such acts after the high publicity on such discriminatory hiring practices and acts on Sinkies' very own homeland. It must be insane for all these people to think they can do that with impunity and SinkieLand's G so daft to let such matters be swept under carpet without any political price.

They know Sinkies are daft and they can get away with beating Sinkies, why not not employing them?

wanna guess the total number of work permit issued by MOM daily?

i.e. ..... both renewal and new approval

hehe .hehe .......

What political price is there when the strongest Sinkie opposition is not even ready to be G?

And when 60% still have a good job, lots of money and therefore happy to vote PAP as G?

@ anon 2.23 pm : " Wonder why these foreign companies are so bold to put up such statements. "

When the strongest Sinkie opposition can even praised the PAP govt as competent, why these foreign companies cannot be bold, you tell me lah?

Because they know all these can only happen in Sinkieland.

Expat bloggers have been calling sinkies stupid since like years back, the latest in sept went on to say that its lucky sinkies had low birth rate and will die out soon.

Expat cycist all to often treat us like dirt, thetes one just like that also in bukit timah, he rides along the main road in the most stress hours in the evening, when you horn, he will challenge you to come out to fight, hes always there at the 7dish very near courts and banyan tree buildings, he lives nearby as he turns off. Drivers beware.

So much for our sinkie land, bullied on own soil, kick and abused in blogs by monkey drinking wine, if they drive, they cut into your lane with total no regards, and middle finger seems to be their norm, ppl along bukit timah must be careful, young ft's waiting at illegally in their cars may dash out suddenly, they can be seen laughing seeing the girls jump aside, specially at young girls, in front of the 2 bukit timah shopping centers, again, sinkies beware.

Smart Sinkies join the SYSTEM and make lots of money, not beat the SYSTEM.

Even the leader of the strongest opposition is smart to join the SYSTEM by praising the SYSTEM as a competent govt! LOL

SO why beat the SYSTEM? Be smart and not daft.

This is a a revelation!

A revelation that PAP will always win every election, as long as smart Sinkies can make lots of money, and together with their loved ones, are the majority of voters, say 60%.

No one owes anyone a living.

The boss of any business has the right to hire and fire whomever they want or need for any reason.

Sure, some will discriminate on nationality. So what? You can only earn whatever others think you are worth -- you have no right to FORCE THEM to hire you.

A few adverts in the media do not make this "a problem" for locals. If you want a job in Singapore, you can get a job. If you are a Job Snob and OVERestimate your own worth in the market, then good luck to you.

Don't blame the employer if he doesn't hire you lah. That is childish behaviour. Obviously you don't have what he is looking for. Better for you to "upgrade" your skill-set and probably your fucking bad manners and lousy attitude. :-)

Got competitive spirit?
