COPS IN MALAYSIA

Subject:  COPS IN MALAYSIA
My  friend sent us this information. Though we can't verify it it's a warning to take note as many of us drive in to JB for makan and provision.
Travelling is a wonderful experience when you want to get away from the humdrum daily routine.. It's just that the natives there can make it troublesome. Even if you take along the correct passport.
Blessings
James
DON'T "DUIT KOPI" or BRIBE THE POLICE OR JPJ AND FALL INTO THEIR TRAP FROM NOW ON !!!To:
Friends, Heed the warning. Don't offer bribe to the police cos they get more than what you would give and you get into worst trouble.....   WARNING : DON'T OFFER DUIT KOPI FROM NOW ON!  DEAR FRIENDS If you have ever paid or are thinking of paying ' Coffee Money' when stopped for traffic or other offences, DON'T EVER Do This Again.

The traffic department (JPJ) has recently started a campaign to be rid of corruption. Every Officer on duty will be rewarded with
RM100.00 if they report each case of bribery to the department.

This is how they do (trick you into) it. They will note down the details of your IC/MyKad, and ask you how you want to settle ( 'Macam mana nak selesai?')

If you indicate yes or even offer to give them any money, they will report the incident by rejecting your 'Kopi Money' and get the RM100.00 instead as an incentive for their integrity and 'Honest' pubicity.

This means that You will end up having a summon issued to you and perhaps a charge for bribery.
SO DON'T PAY DUIT KOPI AGAIN, especially if you hope to go free with a lesser amount of money compared to the fine. Even if you want to pay over RM200, the JPJ Officers would rather have a 'good' name than to take your kopi money.

Just beware of their trick because the cops are now accumulating 'cookies' points for their promotion and pay increment - with your help if possible.
They should have done this to stop corruption long time ago... But anyway it's better late than never, right? SPREAD THIS MESSAGE TO EDUCATE OTHERS ON THIS NEW ANTI-RASUAH POLICY!  AND DON'T YOU DARE TO CORRUPT ANY JPJ OR EVEN POLICE OFFICERS AGAIN!

Government bribes cops to report alleged law-breakers who offer cops bribes. Wah, steady lah mat.

Don't waste your time bribing cops. In Malaysia, to get anywhere and get away with anything, you need to bribe government officials...like the Prime Minister!

Betul tak? Bhumi puki putra!

I have been driving on Msian roads for years and I have not once been booked. All this talk by Sinkies about corrupt cops in Malaysia is one side of the story. Being a very regular visitor to Msia, let me tell you the other half that I have observed.

The way to avoid kana saman is to observe the law. Simple as that. Don't speed, don't beat red light, don't park illegally... and don't throw your rubbish and cig butts out of your car. When you do all that, thinking that this is everything boleh land, then of course you easily boleh kana saman.

Then when you meet a corrupt cop, you blame the boleh system. But why did you not respect the law of the land in the first place?

So if you want to avoid kana saman in the first place, just keep it simple. Observe the law of the land. No need to worry about corrupt cops. Period.

If bribery was successfully outlawed in Asia, Asia will collapse lah.

For e.g. Thailand. Do you know how complicated it is, and how many hoops you have to jump through to get a Thai work permit?

I get mine within 1 hour. The longest I've waited is 3 hours -- go to lunch, come back...DONE!

"Bribery" is the free market at work -- all the government bullshit: complications, compliance and waiting time incur a "premium". When you pay the premium, all the hassle instantly vanishes :-)

If you drive a Singapore registered car, you are deemed to be a millionaire in ringgit terms. Every Mata Mata in JB know that Sinkie very rich one.So if you want to bribe, bribe big lah. Bribe the big guy who will give a plate that is affixed to your car bumper. The mata mata will saluate you.

Bribery works well for people who have the money. If you are poor and if you have no connections, finish. Your life will be a cycle after cycle of injustice. That is why many people, especially the poor and downtrodden in Asia and Africa, look up to Singapore, NZ and other countries with very low level of corruption. (People at the very top in S'pore are corrupt btw.) My Indonesian helper tells me that in order for you to collect your school certificate, you have to bribe the admin. You have to bribe the clerk if you want to go for a job interview. You also have to bribe the interviewer if you want the job. And I'm not talking about a professional position, just a factory job. I really hope the FTs here are grateful they can work in Singapore.

oldhorse, now the mata mata don't care about the plate. you can buy the plates yourself. sold at some shopping centres. they know how to spot a genuine plate.

Go with the flow.

If the flow now is don't offer kopi duit, then don't offer lah.

If the flow is to observe law at all times like Barrie 10:27 am said, then better to observe law lah.

Go with the flow and cut through the clutter.

Ya, right. Offer kopi duit is illegal. Offer kopi kau ok. No money exchange.

Corruption - Corruption is a broad term covering a wide range of misuse of entrusted funds and power for privat gain: Theft, fraud, nepotism, abuse of power etc. Dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery. The action of making someone or something morally depraved or the state of being so .

Corruption is everywhere including those so called 'clean' cities. The difference lies with skillful or unskillful corruption. Kopi money is unskillful corruption, millions dollars ministers pay is skillful corruption. It is all a matter of interpretation and perception. In the strictest sense, so long as there are still poverty in the people, million dollar minister pay are still corruption.

Rightfully a good officer should reject the kopi duit when being offered. It is only if the offerer insist after being warned, that action can be taken.
Sad to see these mata take action just to get a award or just to show they are clean. This does not apply only in Malaysia.

Blame those stupid people who
believe honesty and integrity got
to be rewarded.
Virtue is for everyone to inculcate,
not only one must not accept bribe,
one should not offer it as well.

Me would not consider the Obscene
Pay of the Rulers in Sin as corruption.
They are more like ransom as the
Reason given is that without the Obscene
Quantum, they might become corrupt, will not work as hard or simply will not want to be political leaders.
Anyway, many Sinkies do buy into those threatening reasons offered. Succumbing to threat does appear to make some Sinkies like giving bribe. But, me thinks paying ransom is more befitting.

And there are folks that feel super smart in offering bribe to get things done. These are the Sinners that corrupt the society wherever they are.

I read somewhere that there is this roadside story teller in Singapore asking for kopi money. Don't give?

Redbean,
Isn't the malaysia government learning from Singapore on how to legalize corruption ? Just like in Singapore, if they can take millions to be corrupted then paid them millions.

Question is why should the state pay for such incentive of preventing corruption at expense of taxpayer money ?

Redbean, any answer ?

I love Malaysia. I can't stand UMM NO. I suspect in breeding, but I have no concrete proof of intra-family fuckingso it remains only a suspicion.

Hehe

With money one can survive anywhere as one can bribe.
And bribes make more money.
And more money make the society more dirty.
And whence society gets more dirty, it gets more crazy.
And when it goes beyond crazy, it is anarchy.
And only crazy people like anarchy.
