What do you want?

Sinkies are most happy when their property prices keep going up. Sinkies are even happier when they own more and more properties. Sinkies are happiest when they look at their bank accounts and see the number of zeros behind the digits keep growing.

Are these what Sinkies are happy about? Would Sinkies be happy to have more babies and children in their homes? The Govt think so but for the wrong reasons. There are different kinds of joy in life. Some want more money and properties, some want more power, some want more children. What do Sinkies want?

The way it is going, many will leave this world without having children or maybe one or two. Many may want to have more as having children is another kind of happiness, another kind of wealth that money cannot buy. Many Sinkies spent a lot of money going on holidays, visiting this place and that place, taking photographs of the places they visited. Some choose to stay at home to enjoy their children and grandchildren. Different interest, different joy, different happiness.
The govt also want children but of an unrelated kind. Strangers from all over the world are welcomed just to push up the economy, for economic growth. Is that a really good thing or a foolish thing to do?

While the social economic system in the country is designed to make the citizens childless or unbearable to have children, and the Govt could not understand why, and choose to import foreigners for economic growth that brings little or no joy to having your very own children and family, and the joy of seeing them grow.

Is there something not right somewhere? What is the purpose of this country if it is not to make the people, the citizens, happy and enjoy a fruitful life of abundance, not only in owning more and more expensive properties, but also having more children and a growing family?

Many will end up leaving behind all their material riches, money and properties, with no children to inherit them. When they pass away, it is all over. What is life and what do we live and strive a life time for? Some are contented that they lived well and do not bother after children after they are gone. It is life, our lives, not the lives of foreigners and people that have nothing to do with us. As a country, the Govt should be talking and thinking about how to make lives worth living in this island for its citizens, and having children and happy children must be a major goal in living. What is the point of having so many properties when there is no one going to live in them when the owners die? Oops, we shall invite the foreigners to take over this island and everything there is in it.

Is that the purpose of it all?

I am just rumbling.

Ha ha RB,

Once the US 10-year Treasury yields keep going up and the next FOMC meeting more or less reiterate their "tapering off" intent, possibly this round ( 2009 - 2013 ) property bull market over ......

Last week US release Non-Farm payroll at 195,000. If this increasing rate is maintained over the next couple of months seasonally adjusted, I think more or less the situation is set for a sustainable period in the foreseeable future unless some disasters or something huge occur ......

I believe the other important figure to watch next couple of months is the US consumer and consumption numbers ......

If these two reinforces, then the main determinants of Sinland properties prices may not be the 6.9m or 8.8m factor but the interest rate direction over the next 3 years .....

Before end of this year, the visibility may be far enough to confirm future direction ......

There are probably factors in their calculations that we are not told .....

For large domestic economies like the US and China, their domestic markets do play a significant role ......

Our exports ( X ) is about 210% our GDP based on 1Q 2013 trade figures. Imports ( M ) is about 190%.

Could it be many decisions made based on overseas demand and trade needs than domestic conditions ..... ?

So what if not enough babies are produced domestically. The labour technically can be imported and makes no economic difference one for one .......

Of course socially that is another matter.

Could it be the economic consideration is the one and only factor ..... as long as X and M are sustained at high value.

Domestic sectors are also being sustained via regional tourism ......

The housing price is too high.

Some experts say that there may be a correction of property price of betw 20 to 30% starting from end 2013 when interest rates start to rise........WHAT SAY U......

They think it is ok for Sinkies not to reproduce themselves and just fade away.

Sinkie property prices will never come down. 6.9m will make sure of that. If not enough, make it 15m. Buy properties, sure go up one.

Anonymous said...

....u think if the property price for basic housing is too high people will come?

....once interest rates up and people panic..property price will correct...

.....no such thing as keep going up ... what goes up will come down...

..cheers.....

[UPDATE 1-
Furloughs to curtail F-35 flight testing - US Navy official]

"Flight testing of Lockheed Martin Corp's new F-35 fighter jet will fall short of planned totals for the year
due to budget cuts that will keep the Pentagon's civilian workers off their jobs for 11 days.

The F-35 project, the Pentagon's biggest weapons program,
was already scrambling to make up for several weeks of flight testing that had to be deferred
due to 2 separate flight grounding actions earlier this year.

Lockheed is building 3 models of the new warplanes for the U.S. military services
and 8 international partners: Britain, Australia, Canada, Turkey, Italy, Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands.

Israel and Japan have also ordered the jets."

Yes! Buy more property, car and gizmo; enjoy living and forget about procreation. Or as suggested by Agongkia, sew yours seed around the world, have plenty of baby makers and children at a fraction of the cost to make and bring up in Sin. It will be much more economical and one need not worry about successors. No need to look for prostitutes abroad or stay in hotel. For some tens of thousand You can provide a nice home and make babies. Best of all, You have successors in many lands. And f the Tiny Rock sinks, there are other place to go.
Agongkia is not as gong as he calls himself.

Wishing thinking by RB again!. I think our leaders are thinking about making their lives and their offsprings lives better, even at the expense of the common people. Why do common people want to have more children to see them living in misery and suffering.
It pains me to see our ministers exhorting MNCs to employ more locals and less of their kind. Why does it come to that our MNCs are free to give jobs to foreigners and not to the local?

Unfortunately, most sinkies (at least 60%) are really daft. They do not and cannot think that far and deep after years of brainwashing by a certain ruling party schemes and policies. All they can think is money, money and more money. When the nation is think like that, do you think there is any future left anymore? Maybe it will be better to replace them with foreign imports.

Wayang 1, telling the people to have more children but knowing the people cannot afford to have more children. So keep importing FTs.

Wayang 2. knowing sinkies are displaced by FTs but pretending to tell employers to be fair to sinkies, level playing field.

RB, you asked -what do you want? My answer- I wanted my old singapore back.

Anonymous said...

RB,

I believe there are always two sides to an issue.

What's happening in Singapore could be a case of offsprings living off earlier generation hard work ......

So what's important is the overall net effects?

There some good things happening but the negative doings not only offset the current positive but past positive contributions as well .....

How far back has it gone?

In Singapore, many good governance probably are long institutionalised by the first generation leaders .......

Areas such as health care, education, law enforcement, defence, foreign policies, transport, finance, trade, FDI, housing, manpower, environmental, community affairs, arts and information, infocomm, commerce, tourism etc etc.

Kind of auto cruising mode ......

As long as dont mess up the basic ......

Main issue that we should not take our eyes off is #1 our cpf money.

Raising issues does not equate to anti-ruling party or anti-govt. In the contrary, it is actually for and pro Singapore.

Anonymous said...

This function of safe guarding and ensuring reasonable returns on our cpf money could have been well performed if voters had elected one or two co drivers well versed in financial matters to ask pertinent questions during parliamentary sessions.

It's unfortunate that Singapore currently does not enjoy this priviledge and the ruling party MPs for obvious reasons would not raise such issues most of the time, if not always .....

Even if not much would be revealed in the end, at least some assurances and allaying of deep concerns of some sections of the electorates would be achieved to some extent. This then at least would be seen as some baby steps forward in this aspect ..... Isn't this then a win-win situation for all concerned though not necessarily in a very big satisfactory way but nonetheless achieving its intended objective to some extent ......

"What is the purpose of this country ...."

The purpose of this country is to make Lee Kuan Yew happy.
The purpose of this country is to serve the vision of one man.
What happens when the man dies?

Walau. How come You can read my mind and know what are my thoughts.

Sinkies are getting Ting Tong and Teng Ah Gee to expect Garmen to be talking and thinking how to make their lives worth living in this island .Garmen dun owe you anything lah.
Think of the brighter side.

There are many who earn millions but can only sleep with one woman, thats their wife, and maybe mentally being tortured nightly.Even if they want Xtras, have to hide here and there, even for offering ice cream and risk being noticed..

Pokkai ordinary citizen like me earn peanuts, work day and night, but can choose which mei mei I wish to sleep with for the night.Busan,Kaohsiung,Bandung...can produce everywhere...

Who should consider himself more fortunate and happy?
Poor man doesn't mean one is hopeless.
Make yourself happy.Do something that others cannot do or enjoy.
Break guiness record for sleeping with the most mei meis if you can.
Happiness is in your hand.
What else do you want?幸(性)福靠kahkee lah.

"性福得靠自己".
Seek happiness for yourself.
Well said Agongkia.
Depending on others will only
make oneself miserable.

Besides our cpf, the # 2 issue that we should pay close attention to is the handling of the friction and the non-acceptance of foreign imports by the local born Singaporeans.

It cannot be a soft and cheap option for Singaporeans to take things lying down when new arrivals ridiculously and shamelessly tried to lord over the locally born Singaporeans across not just the higher level but the entire cross-section of our society.

Though I am not anti-ruling party, I do agree with some commentators here that there are more than a handful of "chiat liao bee" in the team as far as the protection and the safeguard of local born Singaporeans interests are concerned.

The first instance I heard the word "prostituting" describing certain action of certain part in our society was under another context. I didnt really quite agree with it though.

However, in terms of opening our immigration doors so wide to many undeserving foreigners who in turn try to play the role of the new masters of this land is totally unacceptable. The term "prostituting" used in this context by some bloggers in my opinion is quite apt to describe some of the instances and happenings on the ground ......

Those in power would be self-deluding in whatever they try to achieve in Singapore if they don't get this issue right. They would probably have at least 40% + electorates not supportive of them before the start of each race.

This proportion likely would get bigger if this issue is not handled in a satisfactory way. They can only disregard this issue at their own peril.

In a way, not addressing this issue would probably mean everything else is off the table, as far as certain section of the electorates is concerned. And some members supposedly deserved to lose badly in the next hustling which is expected around 2016.
