My First Skool child abuse…No, I am innocent

After viewing the video clips on the child abuse at My First Skool Toa payoh, one cannot but feel the pain of the poor child and the parents. Shit, how could such wickedness still happened in this first world city? How could it happen in broad daylight in front of so many adults and none of them feel any sense of responsibility and guilt to care and protect a helpless child? How could a child be left in the hands of a cruel adult while the rest turned to look the other way?

This incident is the same as the intern that was slapped in front of so many colleagues for so long. And the child abuse will continue if the parents did not have the presence of mind to check on the CCTV, or for some reasons the CCTV tape was not shown to them.

There is no point talking about this any more. The sickness of this society must be put right immediately. Every adult in the school must be sacked right away to put a message across that they cannot turn a blind eye to cruelty against children, helpless and vulnerable children. Not only parents must be made to feel safe when they left their children in schools or childcare centres, the children must be protected from being bullied and tortured behind the backs of their parents. How can parents be at ease to put their children in the care of others, supposedly trained and professionals?

The message that everyone in the school must be responsible for the well being of little children must get across. Not reporting abuses is as good as being accomplice to the vicious attack and guilty of the act.

And the torturers of children must be put behind bars, just like employers beating and torturing maids and foreign workers. This City is sick to the core if such cruelties are not nip in the bud and allowed to continue in childcare centres or schools, or in workplace again and again. Even one more case is one more case too much.

Why is it that no Sinkies will ever stand up to right a wrong, to defend the weak or a wicked act? After so many decades of being conditioned, better not to speak up, just obey, just do as being told, do not defy and oppose authority, this is what Sinkies have become. Not my business, and I did not do it, so I am innocent.

The people, a first world and well educated people, must be empowered to look after themselves, their environment and their neighbours and fellow citizens, especially the weak and helpless. But no, they are all kiasi, kiasu and kia tai chee. Don’t get yourself into trouble, into other people’s trouble. In this child abuse case, it is the wrongdoing of the offending teacher, so not their business.

There is a need to empower the people, educate the people to stand up for their rights and to stand up for what is right and against what is wrong. We are turning a nation of people into unthinking and unfeeling robots that only care about themselves and nothing else.

No point blaming the teachers lah.
Sinkies either lost their sense of direction ,brainwashed or simply kia su.Learn a lesson here.
Parent are partly to be blame for putting their 3 year old baby under the care of strangers.
If you say they are not Kiasu, then what?
Young couples send their baby to childcare at such a young age, giving high cost of living and they need to work as an excuse. Some make X dollars a month, spent the X dollars on maids or childcare.Does this make sense? This is simply irresponsible youngster that use work as an excuse to shirk their responsibility as a parent,as a daughter in law or grand daughter in law.
Women are meant to produce babies and it is their duty to care for babies, take care of house chores and parent in law,get ready to serve the husband well with a good massage after a hard day work.Husband earn more eat more, earn less eat less.Bo Bee Chia Han Cher Thng.
This serves as a lesson for those who want sex, want baby, want act as tai tai but not hesitating to leave their baby with others.
Dun give me excuse that many need to work to earn more becos of high cost of living. Its the men's responsibility to make money, like me work 21 hours day and night. No wonder there are now more Kia Bor.

You must not forget that the price of HDB flat is computed to make it affordable based on two incomes.

How can one spouse afford not to work?

Remember not too long ago we have another abuse case that captured the headlines. No I am not talking about the intern case. I am talking about the abuse of the elderly woman in a nursing home. The issue seemed to have died down until another one pop up. Wonder what will be the next one?

How much force is applied to fracture the leg of a child?

agongkia said...

@anon 8.56am
Husband can work 9 to 5,take up another job after 7pm,work till 7am,so 2 income oso.
And one can be assured that the baby is well taken care of with proper motherly love.
@oldhorse.
Wonder what will be the next one?
These are the only cases that you have read.Do you know how many cases of suicides that are not reported?Work hard, help those who are in need if one can.Learn to forgive and forget.Look at the brighter side.

I fully support.
Sack all the adults in the school.
Their silence and lies make them just as guilty as the person who fractured the child's leg.
they should be treated as accomplices.

The parents trusted the schools and the staff. The school and the staff failed the parents and brutalised their children.

Now many parents are worried to death if their children are in safe hands and not beaten in childcare centres.

What kind of measures or assurance can the childcare providers give to give the parents peace of mind and the children safe from abuses?

Have so many children for what?
Can you protect them from these type of abusive environment?
Do you think our PAPig gahmen even care about solving this type of problem?
Or are they too busy rubbing shoulders with foreign billionaires?
Trying to create more jobs for their cronies?

Hahaha

Sinkies have lost their sense of direction is putting it lightly. Most have also lost their marbles after decades of conditioning and propagandation.

Everyday, the MSM talks about the housing market going up by so many percent, fueling the greed and sucking more people into rushing for new housing projects put on sale. Sinkies main preoccupation is making money from properties, stock market and waiting to be given lollipops every year to keep them quiet, so nobody bothers the heck about what is right or wrong, so long as the good life continues.

That the NTUC childcare establishment is involved in this case is telling. If I am not mistaken, there was this talk that NTUC is going into this business in a big way as one of the main players, like the PAP foundation. And I cannot help thinking that with all the right connections, who can challenge them as a frontline player with all the resources and backing of the establishment?

Punishing the teacher is just making her the scapegoat. My gut feeling is that NTUC will just get a slap on the wrist.

This is really painful, seeing the abuse of a toddler. What can a three year old understand? Put a gun to his head and he will still be playful.

And that is one reason many grandparents, difficult or not, will still volunteer to care for their grandchildren rather than rely on maids alone, or dumping them at childcare centres. Having seen the children at a childcare centre next to my block, my wife tells me it was pitiful seeing the children left to lie on the floor after lunch, doing nothing until they fall asleep by themselves until being fetched by their parents in the evening.

Yes, Sinkies enjoy the highest salaries in this part of the world, but at what price? And who created this rich country but needing both parents to work to make ends meet?

Pardon me for being pesimistic.

There is no U-turn for Sin; the damages brought about by the 5 decades of developments after independence are beyond repair.
If Sinkies are proud of any achievement in what they see, it cannot be more wrong in
having a false sense of wellbeing. We are now slave to our society. We have too much BUT own little. We failed and is failing more by the day by making ourselves slaves to materialism. We have worked very hard to satisfy our material pursuits AND OVERLOOKED the ESSENCE of living and existence, the HUMANNESS OF BEING THAT IS HUMANITIES.
Love, kindness, honesty, propriety, filial piety, conscience and integrity have all been abandoned for money and glory.
Our political leaders do it, our elders did it and our youngsters are doing it. Humanities is not just forgottened, Sinkies hardly know it is the Pillar of society and the Bedrock of civilization.
Without Humanities there is no qualification for a human society. Without Humanities only the Natural Law of the Jungle applies.
Me wonders who is responsible for Sinkies' losses of their humanities. Is it the Leadership or is it the Followers? Though i am inclined to feel both are equally guilty. The Leadership is too greedy and so are the People, the Latter is also guilty of been blind in following the Leaders.

On a more wholesome basis, life should be a balance of material comfort and the joy of children. The wealth of a person should be both and more, ie education and self actualisation, doing what one wants to do most, to live life.

In many cases, one has one but not the other. Many rich couples are blessed with everything and material well being but not children. Their lives and material wealth end with their passing.

On the other extremes there are people blessed with many children but lack the resources to give them a good family environment and material well being.

And the in between, struggling to give their children something better but leaving them to the care of strangers, maids and childcare centres, and for the unlucky ones, subject to abuses and ill treatment, some badly hurt and some premature death.

Very tough for some parents.

Got to say that the inbalance of life pursuit in the modern world is invariably cause by the failing of humanity. Most pursue material possession and glory aggressive and neglect or sideline humanities. Hence, the off balance.
Be reminded of the Saying that owning the whole world but losing ones soul is a sure recipe for regret.

Landragon, a regular commenter at Lee Kuan Yew Watch(Blogsite) had a wonderful way of defining human existence. His own Blogsite Landragon 123 is very interesting.
Just like the way he deciphers Sin at Lee Kuan Yew Watch; he offered perspective no others did.

As long as Singapore reserves is rich;
it is okay for Singaporeans to be poor.
We should be proud that we are able to build up so much money in our reserves.
Never mind if our children suffer.
As long as they are not children of our elites.
Our poor must always subsidize the rich.
Poor Always Pay.
Vote PAP in GE 2016!

It's unfair to term us as kaisu, kaisi etc, to put it very simply, the couple got lucky, having a footage as evidence, how many instances was there a video to find why your child had bruises, why did she/he fall, its not just to stand up, as you have put it, we have 2 extremes.
Most if not all parents leave the love ones in these chilcare without a choice, its a system that left us without a choice, standing up to who, without any such evidence its just going back to basics of your words against them.
I have went through pain and tears with my 2 children and let me tell you it's not about the parents, its about having a law enforcing childcares to have video cameras within, the camera will have a huge telling effect on the quality of chilcares, letting parents view thier love ones and knowing that they are save, having not to worry of their well being, chilcares will improve, not only in their service but in their overall standards, taking all the teachers seriously in their performance as parents now can also view them.
I'm sure that couple is feeling miserable but had no choice to still leave their child,

Anonymous said...

In some organisation they planted spies to keep a check on the performance and behaviour of the staff.

Anonymous said...

Most likely next time they will stop allowing the video to be handed over to the parents so the parents can only see the 'right' stuff.

Anonymous said...

Exactly. Or they may claim that the video camera was faulty, therefore no video record will be available.

All kinds of excuses can be put forward to deflect blame if you have power and backing. If floods can be blamed on trees and branches and mosquito breeding on rooftop water tanks can be blamed on birds, nothing is impossible.

Chilcare has been qualified by MSF, the standards they use to measure must be let known, i'm sure the index if it is let known will have many many question.
How are complains handled, What are the series of steps they would do......who can tell us that.
There is a tell tale sign that with a increase in chilcares, the bar of entry has been lowered.
The facts are staring us in the face that rasing their hands are a norm, so much so, that other teachers could not be bothered.
Notice how nothing is mention about the other teachers from the skool.
The whole system is flawed in hiring, training and how they are qualified and the most stupid thing of all, is that they have increase in fees........letting part timers govern kids but still increase their fees.........

Singaporeans old and young are living in a very cold and dark time due to developments over the Last Twenty Years or more.
How many Singaporeans are working because of passion?
Many force themselves to work for survival and some work to pursue their material needs. They leave their own youngs and elderlies to others for care or let them fend for themselves. How could these people love others and others child(ren)?
Most probably the average workers in Sg are not happy at work most of the time and are frustrated with works as well. Can we expect them to provide services that are published in the brochures and reports?
Many Singaporeans are wise to stay un married and for those that did, refrained from becoming parents.
Unless and until one can be sure of caring for others, please do not work in childcare or old folks home just to have an income or be parents. It is a sin to neglect ones duty.

Now even world number two biggest economy which can be number one if they pushes on president said no need to be so.

Part 1:

Well, since many years ago, many Singaporeans are in a way "socially engineered" ......

Man is supposedly "engineered" in God's image ......

Singaporeans "likewise are supposedly engineered in the image of our leaders".......

Just two years ago, met a 50+ lady over some work matters and she mentioned learning cooking class at one of the posh biz chambers down town ......

Said many women of some or substantial influence also there to learn cooking, many in their 40s, 50s, 60s etc ...... She mentioned that she herself is there to learn cooking and network but at least basic stuff she still know. Some women she observed don't even know how to "cut" simple food and need to be taught, she added ......

Didn't say anything to her after hearing that ....... But it occurred to me --- Wah, our education, economic and "social engineering" policies are so "successful" that many Singaporean women can ace their exams but "probably can't even get beyond 10 or 20 marks" if ever there is a cooking lesson practice ......

Seems like the basic abilities to cook of some if not many "powerful career women" in Singapore also being "engineered" in our leaders image ..... veri the "cmi" de ....... actually even many in the lower rung that I heard off also like that ...... basic skills of a family unit ...... looking after their own children and making some basic food for their children are lacking ..... well in economic terms, all these are called choices and ..... opportunity costs ...... economic theories and substitution effect in action ...... obviously no prize for guessing the shape of such a curve if translated to an economic modelling graph .......

Now you know y Singapore fail so badly in its procreation policies after more than 30 years of persuasion, encouragement, incentives, baby bonus, baby bonus 2, baby bonus 3 .......

Anonymous said...

Part 2:

As the famous HK and Chiang Mai based economist Marc Faber said " even QE 99" also likely yield same eventual economic outcome, think "baby bonus 99" also unlikely to alter the outcome of our failing and continue to fail birth rate policies and measures ......

As long as the root causes are not even identified, failed to be identified or simply refused to be identified, what kind of "speeches, war cries and messages" our leaders would say in the next 10, 20 or 30 years time are likely to be as predictable as the sun every morning ..... likewise the outcome .......

Economically, importing "babies" "big, medium or small" is some sort of substitution for a failed policy ...... the problem is, to "borrow an economic concept", are Singaporeans preference for local born indifferent from foreign born and bred ...... Obviously, the choice or real happenings fall way below the "consumers' indifference curve" in this aspect, that's why so much "unhappiness" on the ground on this issue and aspect ...... so you say economic theories got use or not in studying, explaining and predicting social outcome ......

Talking about some party "smearing", I nearly fall off my chair first time I saw that word ...... Ever heard about 'perpetual" honey moon in this world ...... ? so how long honey moon some people think Singaporean voters should accord to some "fragile panda-like entities" who "perpetually" may need "shielding" and "protection" by "protective caring on line baby sitters and care givers" ?

Btw, to set a good example and ensure Singapore's long term survival and sustainability, I think all elected Members of Parliament, ruling party or otherwise should play an active role in bringing about a desired social outcome which is a higher birth rate in Singapore .....

Talking about being worthy or unworthy, maybe the elected female MPs on the other side of the aisle, to "prove their worthiness", should speak up in Parliament next time on this "baby thinkie issue" and suggest ways or solutions to improve Singapore's TFR so as to pacify Singaporean "frustrations" of feeling that they are in a "foreign land" in "their own country" .....

Oops, have they contributed positively to Singapore's TFR anyway ...... Maybe asking them to speak up on such issue in Parliament may not be a good idea, otherwise whatever they say would be "susceptible" to "verbal attack and ridicule" by the other side "given their own dismal record" in contributing to Singapore's TFR ......

Looks like Singaporean voters hope out of "the wilderness" and into the "promise land" could be in vain and likely they would have to do most of the heavy lifting themselves for a long time to come ......

Such maybe the realities and dynamics of the choices we had or rather our past and present leaders had made as a nation. In the past, we had or rather they had enjoyed the positive side of the choice ..... In economic terms, now and in the long run, we or rather they probably would have to face or bear or pay the OPPORTUNITY COST of their choice ......

Who say economic theories "useless" ......?

As for the so many crisis in the west as some claimed in this blog recently, some times certain issues need a more closer look. Was it lack of sound economic knowledge that led to the crisis or some "money obsessed" people "misusing" the knowledge they had to serve their own selfish gains ..... ?

There are miles of difference in them ......

Part 3:

Frankly, hoping for political change to bring about some desired social outcome may be a "fallacy" or "impossible dream" in this modern world ..... Singapore does not have any past example in this aspect but going by what happened in many countries in Asia, Europe etc, so far the record speaks quite clearly and loudly ...... I would say give and take, the net effect likely would be the same or even worst, but I suppose it may happen if ever enough are convinced that it's worth trying since the "existing" keep "screwing up unnecessarily" not because of the top but often also the people below "messing up" whatever the leaders at the top trying hard to improve or remedy ..... I always think our dear people's doctor have vast experience and insight in this aspect and some of our younger leaders may wish to "drop by" his abode to "learn" the "soft but equally important truths" from this "wise and grandfatherly" ex-doctor ..... Otherwise, there may be no end of "screwing up" and nowadays from those at the bottom than at the top ...... I believe many folks would share that kind of experience and agree with that .....

For me, going by my personal observation, I see it as more workable to bring about the social outcome via check and balance rather than "assuming" the driver seat .....

RB already said his knee caps shake like nobody biz ..... so I suppose my running around Singapore for the past few decades actively should be quantitatively far higher than his .....

Qualitatively I can't judge myself how accurate it is but I would say usually I try to be attentive and observe things on the ground and overall ..... I won't say 70 or 80% on the ground are happy with the situation but very likely it is still far higher than 50% ......

So for those punting for a different outcome in 2016, I would say, yes, there are many who are more than "100%" angry and anti-ruling party but the number is likely to fall sort of their hope ..... at least not for now ..... so those "punters" may wish to hold their bet first lor ......

I know some may not like to hear or know this "info" but I suppose " this is how reality works ".... In the financial world, one don't fight the market ..... To borrow a "financial concept or term", I think we have not reached a "trend reversal point yet" such that it is going the other way .....

Those that have outlets for their grievances and grouses like us here are fine after letting off their steam. It is the silent majority that the Rulers must take care.
Those in the open expressing their dissatisfactions are willingly and wittingly exposing themselves. These are those who believe the situation is not beyond hope and are doing their best to contribute to salvage and do their parts in nation building.
The silent majority on the other hand are those having difficulty in expressing themselves and have no avenue to convey their messages. And sadly, this larger group are the ones most challenge by social and political developments. They are not always the poorest, in fact many are middle class which bear the brunt of events taking place.
There is latent danger in the silent majority; they are no good at vocalizing and many believe action speaks louder. They are doers and not theory experts. If and when they are driven to the wall, they will force themselves to act. Some had chosen mrt track and reservoir to end their miseries instead of solving them. There are also others that resort to crimes in order to find solutions to their problems. Both methods are no solution, however there is always the possibility that they may act collectively as in rioting enmasse as is taking place in Egypt now.
Do not rule out the possibility, it only takes a few good planners to make it hsppen.

It's easy to talk n say don't work, don't give excuses that u need to support a high cost of of living. - what if your husband isn't the sort who is hard working? Frequently charges jobs, sacked etc? So still don't work?
