The Shane Todd case

Anyone will sympathise with the parents of Shane Todd for losing such an able son. The emotional stress and grief must be terrible to describe. The Singapore Govt has bent backward to the American request and diplomatic pressure to reopen this case for reexamination. Let’s hope that everything is proven to be above board and everyone, our police, the new investigators, will review the case professionally and do not indulge in politics or whatever baggage or agenda they are carrying. Hopefully there is none.

This case is unprecedented and no country would allow it to go to this stage. The Americans better appreciate what Singapore has done and stop making all kinds of insinuation or unnecessary comments that are unhelpful to the case.

The reopening of this case has put the whole Singapore Police Force and the judiciary under the spot light and should they be found to be negligent or unprofessional, it can be very damaging and politically stressful to the country and individuals concerned. The Govt has consented to put its reputation under scrutiny by a foreign govt. Let this be the last incident of this nature to happen to this country. This case should never be allowed to be a precedent for the future. It affects national sovereignty and integrity and no country, not even the Americans should be allowed to trample on our sovereignty and integrity under whatsoever pretext.

We cannot be pressurized by a case of ‘WMD’ to let the Americans frisk and search us to prove our innocence. The Americans cannot be allowed to do this to us or to any country. Pray this case will prove beyond any doubt the capability and integrity of our officers and our system. It will be dreadful if found otherwise.

While the Govt should put an end to any such request in the future, and ensuring that our officers are beyond reproach in professionalism, we must put it to the Americans that they owe us one for it. Hopefully there is no need to use this reciprocity and both countries will continue with a friendly relationship among equals with mutual respect, and not one that would use threats or ‘WMD’ to con its way to interfere in our internal affairs.

While I do accept that your case and viewpoints has strong merits.
I respectfully suggest that Singaporeans should also remain open to the idea of being challenged.

If we want a robust system of checks & balances, we must be open to the idea of our integrity, professionalism, competency being questioned.
Yes.
Even if the challenge comes from a non-Singapore entity which does not have legal jurisdiction over Singapore.

If we are as world class as we claim to be ... we can stand up to scrutiny.
No need to be thin skinned.

The Americans also eat their own cooking. e.g.
All US Supreme Court rulings are subject to future challenges.
And can be overturned in the future by future Supreme Court rulings.

The alternative system is the North Korean system.
Everything is like that because grandfather says so, three generations ago.
Grandfather say like this.
So no more thinking is required or allowed on the subject.
Can only "tweak" and be "balanced" and "measured".

We are almost there; none have written a book to counter Limpeh Hard Truths.

Hi rb,

If you don't mind me saying, this is not a special case that was reopened due to USA pressure. It's a coroner's inquest. Unless you still read the MSM.

The special thing about this inquiry would be the publicity, scrutiny, length of the hearing, timing, as compared to other inquests.

Case may be reopened after the inquest.

Hi all, in the case of a miscarriage of justice, it would be good if the wronged party can put up new evidence to reopen a case, and it should not be a case of not entertaining due to sovereignty. And such cases could be presented in a non political manner.

The way this case was shafted down our throat was unacceptable from the point of sovereignty. No state would allow another country to interfere or insist for a case that had been dealt with officially to be reopened because another govt wanted to be reopened.

We are not a colony. We are an independent nation with our own laws and govt. On this ground it is very unpalatable and undiplomatic, like we are being raped against our will.

USA always the BIG BRO, imposed their will on other nations big or small.

You want to do business with them. Have to notify them in advance and scanned all cargo to their satisfaction before you can ship to their shores.

Your face been scanned to their database and your physical body throughly molested just to visit them.

Which other country do this to others as though we are criminals.

Scared of even their own shadows.

Well, well, well. If we do not do what Uncle Sam want, they would simply withhold or withdraw funding for the research. How much is the funding? It must be a big sum to move the PAP Govt.
Using Uncle Sam's money to do research and share the findings with potential enemy? The researcher may just be the collateral damage.

sg is a vassal state of fukus
enuff said

this is the infamous fukus exeptionism at work

another obnoxious fukus characteristics at display is
their default mode to projectionism

they want to rule the whole world so badly, so they immediately assume others like china would want to do the same.
they use economic hitman tactics, bribes, liars, black ops, false flags, murders, invasions to gain their objectives. so they immediately suspect foul play when
something happen to their own kind.

hmmm
huawei ?
is there something more than meets the eyes ?
huawei is world's no2 network equipment provider, closing in on cisco
fukus has been dragging huawei thru the mud , smearing it as an espionage outfit, without any substantiation. but its done lots of damage to huawei's marketing drive , especially in the anglophone family .

fukus has been mounting smear campaign on china itself for yrs. viz *china is a meance to the world, china is a pathological hacker, thief, blah blah blah*
but for all i know, the campaign against huawei could has another dimension, a pretext for protectionism

i keep hearing insinuation about huawei in this shane todd case
do i smell a rat ?
[my motto] one can never overestimate the ruthlessness, cunning, depravity of the fukus mafia , history amply demonstrates that they'd stoop to anything to
achieve their objective.

You said the Americans cannot be allowed to do this to us or to any country, BUT they are doing it to us now.

Compare this to what happened to anyone else from a third world country or from around Asean and you can see the contrast.

"Hi all, in the case of a miscarriage of justice, it would be good if the wronged party can put up new evidence to reopen a case, and it should not be a case of not entertaining due to sovereignty."

I don't know what is this cock of sovereignty because the national pledge according to certain fart is a aspiration, so sovereignty is a aspiration too. After all, sincity has one of the largest foreigners population in the whole world to vote for ruling party, so what nonsense of this sovereignty is all about.

what do you think ?

I think it is best if uncle sam takeover this small island and rule it. It is still better for our own welfare and future compare to under Lee Conyou and his gang. We will all have big houses and big cars and cheap oil. Sovereignty, just like our pledge, it is a myth. It is some kind of a dragon that never really exist and is just a mean to get us subdue.

When US takes over Sg, is just like China took over HK. Anyway, uncle sam needs the money and sg has lots of it and by doing so, can end lee oppressive regime and set the people of sg free. This world is full of lies.

The case so far is like opening our arsehole for examination by a foreign entity whose main interest is to find faults and looking for any slips.

Now the whole integrity of the police force and the judiciary is under the spotlight.

i think this case stinks n im not thinking of the spf

all sars n hxnx victim countries including sg, should demand an inquest into the bizarre demise of dozens of fukus micrologists in 2001/2, notably dr david kelly n co., around the outbreak of the sars , aka the *chinese bomb*.
these gents specialised in the dark art of *designer virus*, a deadly ethnic specific bioweapon.
were these people silenced coz they knew too much ?

their deaths left lots of unanswered questions.

Hi denk, your link http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/sociopol_scientistkilling05.htm is quite scary. About 25 of these bio scientists seemed to have been silenced.

And so are the Marconi scientists, but for a different field related to weaponry aerospace.

To "Redbean":

What exactly is Singapore sovereignty when the country is totally reliant on the US for its security?

Ever thought about that?

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

We need to take it back before it is too late. I am serious.

Anonymous said...

OK, so how do you suggest Singapore does it?

I mean, how do you make Singapore not reliant on the US military in case of a conflict with neighboring nations?

Unless you can answer this question, all your claims of "getting the sovereignty back" are futile. Singapore will continue to do as told by the US. Plain and simple.

Guess the next questions the Todd's lawyers are likely to ask:

Did he take his lunch? If he did, then he wanted to be a stomach full dead. Or he wants to live because he ate?

Did he brush his teeth? If yes, he is preparing to live another day.

Did he have any more wine in his fridge? If yes, he does not want to die.

Did he empty his bowel? If no, then he is waiting to let go and no intention to die?

the insinuation is that
todd could be murdered for the *top secret* stuff he's wokring on, no doubt highly coveted by huawei, which is considered a huge security risk by muricun gahment [sic]
