Punggol East and the lunatic fringe

The three letters sent by SDP and its contents are out in the media. The SDP called it a win win win proposal. They believe it in. They believe that it is a brilliant proposal. I think only lunatics will believe so. It is right that the WP ignored this madness completely and not to waste time on something that bothers on pomposity and self delusion. It is simply rash thinking bordering on hallucination. I could add a few more silly comments about this proposal. It is frightening that the SDP think it is their best shot, a work of genius. With this proposal I think SDP has written itself into history. I don’t anyone will take this party seriously any more. SDP has nothing to prove anymore.

In the last GE there was a certain understanding, a common purpose, to get more opposition party candidates into parliament. And they worked at their very best to prevent a three corner fight. The opposition parties were praised for doing just that.

In the Punggol East by election, it is now about helping the PAP to get its candidate into parliament. The opposition parties are trying their level best to prevent the WP candidate from getting into parliament.

In an article written by Kor Kian Beng, a News Analyst from ST yesterday, he floated the idea that the opposition parties are wary that the WP will be getting too popular and strong for their own good. They need to bring down WP or hold it back so that they too would stand a better chance in the GE. Now they fear the WP more than the PAP.

This I think is a tongue in cheek comment. The opposition parties, other than the WP, could not even get themselves elected. What is there to fear the WP? They need to make themselves credible and elected first before thinking of undermining other opposition parties. Maybe Kor Kian Beng is right. The mentality of the opposition parties is just so shallow that they could not see anything further than the tip of their noses. So, in this by election, the target is the WP. Bring down WP at all cost.

What a hilarious bunch of clowns!

What have you been smoking Chee? I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt until you came out with this proposal. Psst, are you ok?

I shell call you Cheeeeeeeeee byeeeeeeeeee now.

Now we know why GCK and LKY released him from bankruptcy. The two old foxes knew that by freeing CSJ they would be setting a cat among the pigeons and create havoc in the opposition camp.

CSJ belongs to a Funny Farm for his latest antic.

Imagine he dares to put up such a proposal. And his colleagues agree with it. Which kindergarten they came from?

I am not surprise the sensible people in SDP will abandon ship soon. It is the height of insanity.

His behaviour is bizarre.

Singaporeans need to understand the term "pay it forward" sometimes we make sacrifices so that others may benefit.
This fight is for all Singaporeans, and not for party interest. If SDP cannot see that WP is in the best position, then they hav written themselves off by doing a grave injustice to the people by splitting the votes.

First we have Harban Singh.
Then we have Zeng Guoyuan.
Now we have Chee So Juicy.

This is the only time when I wish I can do a Tin Pei Ling, shuffle my feet, and cry out loud "I don't know what to say......"

I think if sdp lose the deposit then they can write themselves off for 2016 GE as all other parties will want to take their places. What a pity as they do have something to offer and have good candidates but they wanted to destroy themselves so what can other people do?

I always know that there must be a catch some where when two former PMs released him from bankruptcy. The former PMs were not known to be kind or forgiving sort of persons.If they could forgive CSJ it could only mean that they have sent CSJ back to the opposition folds to chor luan.

I think he should go back to his theatrics and go on a hunger strike. But make sure this time he does not hook himself up with glucose drip.

In order to save itself, the central committee should sack Chee and withdraw from the by election. If not, SDP will be the joke of all parties.

/// Explaining why he decided to enter politics, Dr Koh said when
he was called to serve, he felt "duty-bound to stand and be counted". ///

Doctor, doctor.
In the first few days;
When you were walking around with Teo Ser Luck holding your hands;
You refused to confirm whether you were going to stand for office.
So obviously you are not your own man.

You must wait for Uncle Lee to say, ok, before you dare to serve your fellow Singaporeans.
So without Uncle Lee's permission;
you will not serve Singaporeans ... correct?

Only when Uncle Lee says ok, then you dare to allow yourself to feel "duty bound to stand and be counted."
In other words, you will do as you are told.
If like this, then will you also just be very quiet when Singapore assets in your SMC is being sold off to $2 companies?

If yes, then why should I vote for you?
There are so many clones-in-white;
all sitting quietly & obediently in the parliament already.
Pay you money just to do the same thing is it?

My dog is also very quiet & obedient.
And he is a lot cheaper to maintain than you will be in parliament.

So Sinkies.
Please vote for my dog hor.
Same quite obedience as a PAP MP.
But a lot cheaper to maintain.

I was willing to keep an open mind about SDP.
And then I read about SDP's proposal this morning.

Like WP, I think it's better to maintain a dignified silence.
And let my actions do the talking.

Whatever SDP's little bit of reputation that is left is long gone after Chee did Chiam in. I believe WP knows what Chee is up to and are wary of him.

There can't be any way that SDP and WP can form a pact in this by-election. Chee, I am sure is going to contest himself, so that can only mean WP has to make way. In any case, what about the other opposition parties? Will they make way too? WP is right to just ignore his antics.

By the night of 26 Jan, Sebastion Lim, Benjamin Pwee, Kenneth Jeyaretnam will have lost their deposits! What is worse is their reputation! They will make a fool of themselves!

Let's not be distracted by the state-controlled media. We must never allow them to control the thoughts of the voters everytime there is a election.

Other Opposition parties where got 'wary'?

The State media is a chief obstacle for Singapore to move away from a de facto single-party state. Dont forget they are still controlled by the PAP.

ST might want to stop putting words into the mouth of the other opposition parties, sowing seeds of discord.

Singapore opposition still must work very hard to break PAP stranglehold.

It is not going to be easy looking at this by- election, the way they spin the opposition against wp.

Please ! Its not too long ago sdp was given a media blackout.

Then all in a sudden that party is enjoying extensive media coverage.

Why dont they publish sdp policy papers in the ST then to be consistent ???

Anyway WP dignified silence shows political wisdom.

Dr Chee, how did you manage to get you PhD huh??

I'm actually surprised, disregarding the latest "proposal"which I can only guess to be a thinly veiled f you to the WP, the SDP is acting well within it's interest.

The PAP is a known factor, but has been enfeebled in the last 2011 GE. The WP has momentum, buoyed by the HG by-election.

Problem is, letting the WP take Punggol will allow them to entrench themselves and make Singapore pols a case of PAP and WP.

SDP and the others (NSP harbours hopes of joining the WP) will be rendered obsolete and the SDP will want to prevent that.

Yes, acting as a spoiler will bring ill will, but the SDP has nothing to lose but they do have a bomb in the form of spoiler effect and humbling the WP by denying them the morale boost might force the WP to the negoiating table.

Worst case scenario, the WP takes revenge by splitting their forces islandwide, distrupting their slow and steady but at the cost of being hemmed in for the next two elections. SDP and co for their part will at least not have to deal with the task of dislodging a newly minted popular govt in the form of WP and deal with a weaker, known PAP.

Remember, the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy.

SDP may have nothing to lose by contesting in Punggol East by-election may be what seems on the surface.

This silly episode is going to send them into oblivion, to join Harban Singh. Those who talk rubbish will end up on the rubbish dump.
