Lee Li Lian to represent WP in Punggol East

Lee Li Lian was the candidate for Punggol East in the last GE and garnered 41% against Michael Palmer. She is now standing again to take on Koh Poh Koon in the by election. It must be a tough decision for WP but a very sensible one. She had walked the ground and is not new to the voters. She only needs a 5% swing to win this race.

And this is a very critical by election for both the WP and PAP. It will signal where the wind will blow in the next GE.

Clever move. A fantastic choice. It must be tough for WP. She is not a greenhorn and is well loved in Punggol. She can do wonders for residents there. Again WP has proven its mettle and never disappoint. LTK has been proven a great tactician of all time.

Hail LTK !

Even if she wins, it makes no
difference.

It makes a lot of difference.

It means PAP has lost one more pawn.

Everyday lose one pawn, sooner or later, the whole structure will collapse.

Then the people can pressure the govt to listen to us more, give us more things that citizens want mah.

She should be the Obvious Choice.

And the Voters at Punggol East should give
themselves the opportunity to test her mettle.

Wish her good luck and will perform and deliver.

True, they will continue to keep
quiet. If the three lawyers cannot
bring up important national issues, you think she can do.

So what? lost one more pawn.
So the WP can form a coaltion.
Look, the Presidential election
saw PAP got only 35%. The combnation of TCB and TJS have about 50 over percent. You think PAP do not know they loosing ground
and yet they continue to do what they want to do.
We need to give a third party an opportunity.

It's not just losing one more pawn.

It's more opportunities to find out if there are any $2 companies in Punggol East Town Council.

It's also dwindling business opportunities for companies who specializes in doing PAP Town Council business.

She is a better choice than the two NMP. She is a good street fighter and will certainly will command a better following. If there is a one-to-0ne fight with PAP, I think she will win hands down. For a multi-corner fight, I think she will stand a good chance.I just hope she is not a patient of Dr Koh, the PAP candidate.

If pap defeated sinkie will be better . Pap is forced to review it's policies to cater to the people expectation or else pap will loss more ground.wrong to say there is no difference. Good luck wp

What you need is a good person, not a too clever person when the heart is not in the right place. And the by election is not about electing a PM or a minister but about getting the people's rep to parliament to represent the people's interests, no the party's interests.

I think Li Lian will be good enough to take on many of the women MPs from PAP. Let's not try to compare her with a minister. She is as good as anyone to be an MP. You don't need a nuclear scientist or a surgeon to be an MP. It will be a waste of talent in the wrong field.

Michael Palmer has not been doing his work on the ground. You think coming from a/c environment, he wants to sweat? No wonder got time to romance @expense of PE residents. Why? Bcos PAP "subcontract" work to PA.

SDP Chee Soon Juan - you trust a man for the job? Worst still he wont even want to clean the streets bcos he thinks he's same level as PAP. Those ivlory-tower professionals.

Please allow a little digression.

After reading much about Dr Chee rather than SDP with regards to the Punggol By Election, it dawns upon me that Dr Chee and also maybe his sister Sock Chin syand very very good chances of being elected in the Next General Election. THAT IS, IF THEY STAND AD INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES, especially Dr Chee himself.

It is clear that many appreciate his gut, but alas few are impressed with him as a political party leader. Personally, me doubts he can stand the test of time as a leader, any kind of leadership, he leaves others the impression of too much self importance. This, however does not degrades his sense of righteousness and justice.

Now that MS Lee Li Lian has make a comeback to her turf where she last represented WP in the GE, DR Chee may like to give her his blessing.

Me sees Dr Chee as a great freedom fighter and believes he can do great as an individual. Good luck to him in the Next GE.

'Even if she wins, it makes not difference'

That is what some people think. It makes a difference because it will send a signal to the ruling party that Singaporeans are getting fed up with 'shafting down the throat' without question policies.

Even if the opposition cannot change policies in Parliament, the fact that they are there means that there are some Singaporeans willing to take the risk of putting them there to seize on opportunities to dig into wrongdoings. The AIM saga is one such occassion.

We all know that power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely. Only daft people wants that.

And being already called daft by non other than the old man says a lot about his impression of the 60% who voted for the PAP.

I always think one should look at the loyalty of the candidate first and foremost.

Would you want a candidate that stood in one consituency and runs to another whenever an opportunity pops up elsewhere? Or a candidate that joins one party after another because of personal and selfish aims? If he or she cannot be trusted to be loyal to people he or she wants to serve, what does that tell you?

So, I think the WP's choice of Li Lian is a wise move. She has proven her loyalty and she deserves a chance.

I wish her good luck. Win or lose she should hang on with WP and wait for 2016.

That is a good move. Let her be the only one taking on PAP. Other opposition parties should support her to take on their common enemy. That is the right thing to do.

'Even if she wins, it makes not difference'

Of course it makes a difference.
I may not be able to do much against PAP.
But I will do what little I can.
And if all I can do is to vote Opposition, I will do it.

Anonymous said...

Yes, whatever little she can do, let her do it. Together, lets blast our common enemy into outer space.

If the WP wins, it will be as the PAP thought it might be. Nothing for it to get uptight about, just like if it wins with under 50% of votes. All cool. It's already done the tweaks. Enough already. WP is not asking for more.

But if the SDP wins, I reckon an electric shock is going to run through the House, because it is so unexpected. Things will go a damned sight further than a review of ministers' pay and AIM. Even the non-grading of schools will look minor after what will be put into place.

The PAP will be so anxious to stop the SDP from getting further, it will do a lot more of what it is required to do. LOTS more is likely to be changed.

But before that, something will be found wrong with the papers filed by the SDP candidate and he won't be able to stand....

Incidentally, Chee can't stand in this by-e. One of his guys will. So he's fighting for himself.

Btw, too, WP has NEVER given way to Anyone else, and has expected Others to give in to it. It was NOT at the negotiating table with the other opposition parties before GE2011 to carve up territory in order to prevent 3-cornered fights.

I feel like joining Workers Party.

I don't have a doctors degree, I didn't study hard, I didn't get good results when I was young, I was a lowly corporal, yet there is a very good chance I can strike it rich when I get elected into Parliament earning a princely $15000 a month. I also no need to talk so much or do so much or think so much. Once in a while I only need to pass sarcasm in Parliament and my supporters will lap up every bit and support me like some hero. Haha.

Anything cock up I just trumpet out and blame PAP. But I do have a good heart at the right place. I will say all the things people like and want to hear, but I do not need to deliver the results because that's PAP's job. Haha.

Such easy job and it feels good too when people love you. And I get paid too.

What's WP contact ?

She is like many working mothers in Sg that have to balance work and live and parents (including inlaw) and children without much help from gov or whatsoever. Hope she can fight for more help for this group of people that the gov has forgotten.

Be a smart ass and join PAP. You will be treated like a dignitary by the grassroots for doing nothing except shake hands, talk and after that shake legs. The grassroots will do the rest.

And being a smart ass, $15 is peanut, You stand to make millions holding political office with PAP.

With WP, You do not have proper office to conduct MPS, no free makan and drink and no VIP treatment.

Go and talk to Khaw Boon Wan to see if You qualify.

If the Singapore President is unable to stop Singapore assets from being sold to a $2 company;
What can an asshole specialist who just joined PAP a few weeks ago do?

Anonymous said...

PAP?

Nah, it is not so easy to join them. They will not take in any tom, dick and harry with average results.

WP easier. WP has the rubber stamp to blame PAP when things don't go the way, and people will support one. Moreover, I am not so greedy, just $15k a month will do.

Grassroots ? I believe since 40% of singaporeans support opposition, there should be many more grassroots going around to help considering WP is currently managing only two town councils.

PAP's Dr Koh Poh Koon,
- a new PAP member
- several weeks old only

So what can he do that Michael Palmer was unable to do?
- Michael Palmer was a long time PAP member
- A Speaker of Parliament no less

“The residents have to be practical and realistic – that you must choose to vote the person who can do the work for you."

Are you really sure these are not just empty words?
From a politician who is only a few weeks old?

How come PAP cannot find any other existing PAP member to be the candidate?
Running out of PAP members?
Scrapping the bottom of the talent barrel ... and still cannot find?

Did You manage to get into Workers Party or are You talking through your arse?
Maybe the Arse Doctor should examine You.

Anonymous said...

"The residents have to be practical and realistic - that you must choose to vote the person who can do the work for you."

If we want a CPIB investigation into the sale of Town Council assets, who can do the work for Singaporeans?
You, Dr Koh PK?
Or.
WP's Lee Li Lian?

/// LTK has been proven a great tactician of all time. ///

Not just a great tactician, but a great strategist as well. Remember his giving up Hougang to contest in Aljunied - that was classic. Also, his elegant silence and non-response to the Chee By-election proposal.

The said...

So, CHEE says BYE to BY-erection.

If KJ insists on contesting, he will lose his deposit.

Congrats, Li Lian, on your overwhelming victory.

Let's pop the champagne.
