Happy Deepavali to all Indians

A happy Deepavali to all Indians and Singaporeans celebrating this day. I dunno when they will change this to Divali in deference to the new citizens and FTs and to make them more at home. We shall celebrate Deepavali for as long as we can.

thank you for your deepavali greetings, redbean. however, not all indians celebrate deepavali. indians who are hindus, sikhs & jains celebrate deepavali. indians who are buddhists, christians, muslims, parsees, bahais, etc, don't.

One thing about Sin, many that are non religious or more liberal, will celebrate any festival regardless of race, language or religion. I celebrate all the religious festivals with my friends when invited. No taboo for me.

I am sure Gintai does the same too.

Divali is another way of saying Deepavali by the Northern Indians. It is like the Sinkies pronouncing one as yi but switching to yeow to follow the Taiwanese. Many mandarin words are now pronounced differently to be like Beijing or Taiwan.

How many Sinkies know what is Divali?
