Social media’s growing clout

Monday was a great day for social media. It was quoted profusely by the main media on all the saucy comments about Ravi’s dance performance in Hong Lim Park. It used to be the other way, when social media quotes main media for news and information.

The growing presence and relevance of social media is again proven by the suspension of an NPark officer and the investigation into the irregularities in purchasing $2,200 folding bikes for its officers. The case was brushed off quickly by officialdom when it first surfaced. It was through the tireless great investigative work of social media that revealed so many discrepancies and doubtful practices that this case can no longer be swept under the carpet. Many netizens are calling for an investigation by CPIB.

The main media was at a lost and one main media journalist was quoted to have sought assistance from a netizen journalist on how to go about conducting investigative journalism. This is about the best recognition social media reporters/journalists could ever hope to get from the professional and well paid and well trained main media journalists.

Social media is going to get more relevant with each passing day. But one must be cautioned about how easily social media can be abused. All it needs to do is to plant a few jokers to make all the comments wanted and these can then be quoted as genuine feedbacks from the bloggers or netizens. In reality, the feedbacks and comments were preconceived and to be used for a planned purpose.

While social media is flourishing in its free and unfettered ways, all must be made aware that many disinformation, can be planted to confuse and abuse the social media.

Social media reporters/journalists/bloggers must continue to strive to provide genuine and factual reports and articles to maintain their integrity and the integrity of social media as an alternative source of news and information.

MSM might as well close shop.We don't really want them after all these years shitting on its readers.

Well. I did my part.
I cancelled my subscription to the Shit Times to register my disapproval with their standards.

I also did my part by critizing those Roll Royce bikes. The power of Internet. Cheers.

I have also stopped reading Shitty Times long ago. Who wants to pay and read their propaganda? Let's hope they go bust soon with declining readership. Langgar!

The rising political awareness of the people and their active participation in wanting Singapore to be a better place for Sinkies is our equivalent of the American Tea Party Movement. We don't take to the street to demo.

Thanks to Hsien Loong for his light touch and more tolerant to diverse voices and views. He needs to listen to them to continue to be relevant.

Can KBW dodge it this time ?? He was lucky with the NKayF saga ....

What were the judges doing while the people sniffed out rats?

They were busy judging you when the people, with all the qualification of street education, should be judging them or take back the right to judge!

The people judged, the power caved in!

It's not just social media - it's people power! People are becoming more politically astute. Social media is only a conduit.

Never let the court or fucking spineless and cockless mediation centers tell you you can't rightly judge an incident.

"Yet

Of course the rulers are aware of it as they are super-educated from bunch of potential clowns but do they care when all these propaganda, smearing , lies in state media are all bear by taxpayers in expense ? Didn't SPH back by TH ? Tax money go into TH into SPH to finance as PAP mouthpiece ? Since the media is paid by the public anyway, of course they have no shame to use them to the fullness and advantages to advance their agenda ...
It is like using public money to build service and products to exploit the public ... Life is so blissful for ruling pary indeed.

Redbean,
What do you think ?

I say the rulers are the top talents available in the island. Don't underestimate their intelligence.

What do you think?

I am sure they are very aware and many things are done deliberately to ensure their continue hold on to power.

They are aware and intent on putting out more propaganda, BUT, they are not aware that the people are pissed off with them; the propaganda plus the Rulers.

You must be very kidding to say that they are not aware. In fact they know but they choose to ignore for the sake of million dollar paycheck. Money closes their eyes, heart and ears. Just because they deliberately ignore the plea of the public does not excuse them of unawareness and ignorant.

Anyone remember MBT who say expensive flats are affordable as long as you can have very long installment to pay them ? See he just need to stick to that nonsense as long as he get millions. But that does not means that he not aware of his own nonsense.

It is so easy to forge igorance and act blurt to get away for these clowns, not that we don't know it is the modus operandi of ruling party.

Their self interest comes above everything else.

Okay, i am convinced that the Rulers are oblivious to the feelings of the people. And they are adamant, still insisting they are the best in Sin and they are not heeding the people at all.

Let us see how good they are; shall we?

If they can get the media to repeat their claims it will soon become true, like property prices are affordable, keep repeating and repeating and the people will believe that it is affordable.
