National Day Message, A Retake

Every National Day is a time for reflection about what this country is all about. National Day brings to light the meaning of nation, and the perennial question being asked is whether we are a nation, or are we getting there. After 45 years of strenuous nation building exercises, sadly, we acknowledge that we are not getting near there. It is still a work in progress. Maybe this is a blessing. Why should we want to build a nation when we can have the best of both worlds? We can have the best people, the most successful people coming here to live in the best city modern history can provide, and we don’t have to be bothered with the responsibility of looking after incompetent and loser citizens who could not make the grade. Just simply tell them to go else where and the vacated place can be quickly filled up by more able and talented individuals who are hungrier and less demanding. An indirect way is to make the cost of living so high that they will quit voluntarily. Should we therefore be craving to build a nation? Or are we chasing a construct that is no longer relevant to a small city state? A hotel, a piece of prime land for those who can afford the best, with no obligations or commitments, no responsibility, run by a mercenary force of hardnosed businessmen should suffice. Let’s be real and pragmatic and reinvent ourselves. Ooops, ourselves is no longer relevant. There is no us or them. Only the board of directors of a prime estate offering its space for those who appreciate how well it is being run. No citizen to please, no need to plan for social security and cheap public services. Pay for what you get and pay to live here. Nothing is free. The present citizens can always opt out of the scheme, sell out, clear their CPF savings and move on. Let this be the last National Day and everything shall start anew on 10 August, no citizen, no NS, no govt services, no social services, no subsidies, no handouts, no entitlement mentality, no gripes. And no need to be bothered by unreasonable and demanding citizens. Ah, no need to build cheap public housing. Sell private properties only, to the highest bidder, to the one who can pay the highest market price. Welcome to the world’s Best Run Private Real Estate. PS. Of course I am talking cock. The difference is that I know I am talking cock.

Singaporeans need do only one thing, National Day or any day.

Work for the money and get out of Sin as soon as one can and forget the sufferings here. The World is big and worth exploring, happiness could be had an hour or 50 kilometres away.

Live for HOPES that can be realised/actualized and not on dreams. Dreams are empty imaginations that mostly haunt and sink the spirits when one opens his/her eyes.

What you saying? Every day is a fine day, a happy day. My only problem is to take my Audi 8 for a spin now and then. Spending too much time with my Ferrari and Lamborghini.

And the happiest place is my 10,000 sq ft 3 storey bungalow where I can sample the finest wine in my cellar, in complete peace and privacy.

Singaporeans should stop whining and just enjoy live. Be happy with what you are.

On a separate note, that is why I admire so much the Chinese leader Wen Jiabao.

During the coal mine flooding incident recently, when they did managed to save many of those trapped, saving the last few miners trapped in the coal mine was still uppermost on Wen Jiabao's mind. He said that every life was precious and they will spare no effort to bring them out to safety.

Now, those trapped miners are not the cream of the crop in China by any measure, but they are still considered important enough to be saved.

That caring and compassionate attitude from a leader is what makes Wen Jiabao stand out among all world leaders.

And how much is he paid for doing his job taking care of such problems, which is a common occurrence in a country 13.7 thousand times larger and with a population 300 times bigger than Singapore?

For the rich and powerful all the more to explore the bigger World.

What do we have in Sin?

Spending ones' wealth just on cars and properties? Is living just these??

Patriot asked 'Is living just these?'

Some people are so rich, this is the best they can do. The strange thing is, and there is some element of truth in the saying, that, you have to experience the knocks in life to understand the purpose of living.

It is just like someone climbing Mount Everest. You ask why did they do it, risking their lives and suffering the tremendous torture up and down. Life to them is more than eating, drinking and lazing.

Leave the rich alone to enjoy their opulence.

For a long time, no minister of some weight has stood up and demand that the govt should do more for the citizens. All we heard is to do more for foreigners, FTs, FWs. PRs. And Singaporeans have to accept them even if they are in pain or losing out.

Citizens are of no significance to them now. The important people are rich foreigners, bosses of big MNCs, employers and foreign workers who can help to push up property prices and depress wages.

How can a Government like this ever want or hope to galvanise citizens to be patriotic, to support its nation building efforts and to protect the country, its institutions and feel proud in the process?

Dream on for another 45 years!

"Fuck all of you who believe in "country", because you never stepped up to the plate to actually defend your "country" from being stolen under your very noses. Once your environment is controlled, it b'elongs to the interlopers, and they decide what your "freedoms" should be, and they give it to you in small chunks so that you are always hungry and obedient -- like stray dogs instead of being upright mature adult men and women.

So fuck you and fuck your National Day. Fuck your stupid meaningless pledge, and fuck your silly National Anthem which you sing as if you're in a huge govt-controlled Karaoke lounge (minus the blowjobs from gorgeous foreign harlots)". Unquote.

The Above Remark is the most candid and honest statements me have heard from any Singaporean.

WILL SINGAPOREANS BE HONEST ENOUGH TO ADMIT?

Or

ARE THERE SINGAPOREANS WHO THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THAN THAT?

Pray! Tell us Singaporeans.

Me used to love the Unique Singapore Foods, until about 20 years ago.

Before the 70s, cooks, not so called chefs today and artisans, not technical school graduates, took years and decades working as apprentices and can only go on their owns when their skills are as good as their masters.

Today, except for those stalls operated by those apprentices, the foods everywhere in Sin suck. Even the humble roti prata(roti chennai) never taste anything like a shadow of the past except for the handful of wellknown stalls.

Anyone attending Chinese Wedding Lunches and Dinners in so-called 4 Stars and above Hotels should know how the foods there by so called reknown chefs taste. Simple cuisines like roast chickens and braised ducks taste no better than those in hawker centres and coffeeshops. BUT cost a bomb!

Out of the many cha kway tiow stalls in the whole of Sin, less than a dozen taste comparable to the old days. The better ones are invariably prepared by those over fifty year olds.

See, even the foods and skills of the present artisans(cement products/welding and metal products) have sinked in standards. The traditinal Chinese Buns(bakpoa and all kinds of poas), Malay satays, mee rebus and kuays(pastry), prata and any other traditional local dishes produced by under forty year olds so called chefs have dropped many notches from decades ago.

In GOVERNANCE, the Drop in finesse is even worse. The Past is always known as 'THE GOOD OLD DAYS' to the older folks and the PRESENT makes everyone sick.

AND

worse, most have problems paying the medical bills.

WITH

the WORSTs yet to come.

Celebrate Your Woes!

"P.S. I'm still waiting for one of the valiant RSAF boys to fly his plane into the podium. Man, what a thing to be watching on the news. I swear, I'll cum in my pants :-)"

It will be ugly if it happens though it could very well be the most spectacular spectacle for the world to see. But, this tiny shiny dot can never produce any martyr, so the wish will likely remains a wishful one.
