Robbery or theft in paradise?

Oct 26, 2009 Family on camping trip robbed By Muhd Nurluqman A FAMILY on a camping trip was robbed on Oct 24 at the southernmost point in Sentosa. The family of eight had pitched a tent at the small islet at around 8.30pm and realised that three bags that they had placed inside the open tent were missing a couple of hours later. The above was posted in Singapore Kopitiam. I think it was taken from a press report and Muhd Nurluqman is a reporter or sort of. The question is whether the family was robbed or the bag was stolen when they left it inside their tent. To be robbed is pretty serious in this island paradise. On the other hand petty theft can still occurred if one is careless with one's belonging and tempting the thief to be.

In Singapore, petty theft is news. In the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and other banana republics no one even blinks if daylight robbery is committed right in front of them.

We are so bored here that someone losing some knick knack, and they deserved to lose it by the way, is reported upon.

In Singapore we have only legitimised crime and corruption lah! That is why it is sooooo-oh clean.

Playing word games is pointless. The fact is the family was relieved of their private property against their consent.

It's like the LTA kapo-ing your land to widen the road.

i don't think we should let it pass as the word was used with malicious intent. bloggers may post carelessly like directless rubber or emplorer etc, but the professionals from the media shall not be allowed to go on a rampage with their hidden agenda.

they claimed to be professionals and accuracy is their hallmark. to be robbed means the robbers confronted the victims and forcefully take away their possessions. to steal implies a less blatant or law defiance approach. if robbers are everywhere in this island, then we are in deep trouble. i know of one corner where singaporeans fear to thread, not in the island of course, a robber's favourite haunt.

redbean, you speak as if the media was in some way 'accountable' to the public for the way it presents the (so-called) news.

The local media is not. They suck the govt's cock, and allows the govt to come all over the media's face (do you like the picture your mind just created? hahahaha)

i don't like to comment about local media if i can help it. no need to.

but the post i quoted, i think is not from a local media. the asians used to think that foreign media were all speaking the truth. now obama is even hitting at Fox and other american media. they are most of the time speaking their own agenda and managing the thinking of their readers. they are powerful especially to the innocent readers. they change behaviour, mindset and how the stupid asians think.

Obama and his gang are running their own agenda of neo-marxism and total control. This is no surprise -- every US President has pushed his own agenda. I don't blame them. If I were the so-called "leader of the free world" I'd be having a good time too -- flying my jet all over the place, using my military for my own entertainment and spending printed counterfeit money like no bodies business. Why not? I have absolute power! The worst that can happen is I don't get voted in again.

I'm no fan of FOX (or any of the global MSM), but in a so-called "free" society the press (media) is free even to spout ideas and also ideology which is unpopular or against the state. In the free market of ideas, readers make up their own minds.

You can't stop people from sying or believing stupid things -- and that applies to the media, to the state and to all private citizens.

The US is experiencing a "conservative" backlash. unfortunately these days the word "conservative" is too close to fascist ideas.

Anyway, it is somehow entertaining to witness an empire in its death throes. All empires since the Romans essentially collapsed because they were economically and fiscally irresponsible. It fucking serves them right.

what is impt is that people, especially asians, must wake from their slumber and understand that the western gods are not the gods that they used to believe in. the western media are mainly propaganda and half truths and misinformation in the field of politics and govt.

once they understand this, that all is fair. read media articles with a rock of salt and not to believe in them blindly. all of them have their own agenda. many of the writers are paid by more than one paymaster.
