Parliament is having a break

Geese, without the entertainment from Parliament, news is getting a bit dull. I hope Low Thia Khiang would review carefully the lessons and lectures he received in Parliament and come back prepared to take on the matrons. One thing I hope he will do is to issue a challenge to the good hearted MPs who have been teaching him how to be a politician and invite them to contest in Hougang, one to one, to prove who is being simplistic. The result will be a great testimony on what is real.

Redbean, it does not matter even if Low wins Hougang again. The important thing to note is that WP under Low is now a PAP-approved opposition party, unlike when it was under JBJ. PAP is perfectly happy for Low to continue occupying the seat. of course, for wayang purposes they will put a token candidate at Hougang just so that the whole charade does not become too obvious. :-)

hi Arthur Hitler,

welcome to the blog. this perception of Low is something that many had commented. let's hope it is not true.

redbean, it is as true as cpf not being your money. :-) why do you think the WP is now derided as the Wayang Party?

Not true lah. Look at Mr. Low. He really looks like he is trying very very hard to be a good opposition as evidenced by the rapidly receding hairline, the puffed up look. Not much rest but plenty of work planning for the next election. How can anyone say he is a wayanging charader?

Keeping up appearances so that people don't see through his wayang is also hard work, Wally. :-)

Whether Low is a fake does not make any difference to his voters.

There are people who will vote a monkey even if they pit him against a PAP candidate. These people do not support the PAP and desire an opposition, carry out what they say, and have the ding dong (courtesy of Wally) to do it.

There are also people who say they do not want PAP, wants some form of opposition in Parliament, but even if the opposition puts God as their candidate against the PAP, they will still vote for the PAP. Their ding dong always go missing at the crucial moment.

So, whether Low is a fake opposition or just a wayang character is of no significance.

But what is important is that, at least, the PAP knows that there are indeed people who want an opposition, who have the guts to carry out what they say and who will vote for the opposition.

And the PAP knows inside out that there are also people shouting at the top of their voices about wanting an opposition, but who will never carry out their threats, and will always vote for the PAP.

That's the difference.

Hehe,

Cannot help but postulate:

Hougang will always remain Low's, his health permitting. A small enclave ain't gonna pose much threat. Besides, he is so good with the chaozhou dialect that it would be hard pressed for the PAP to find a scholar type to fit the shoe. Compared to Dr. Chee who is likened to an aggressive Doberman Mr. Low is a gentle golden retriever. Just a figure of speech. No disrespect intended.

If I were a political strategist, better to put it under Mr. Low, the nice gentleman, the known than face another gungho no holds barred JBJ clone.

looking from another angle, some quarters must be cursing at the people of hougang, so ungrateful, voting for the opposition. is this a fair comment?

Beg to differ, sorry. The NEW SDP has done the most to benefit the PAP. First help PAP win 3 seats, then help PAP increase its vote share by 20%, finally help PAP win by more walkovers by sending all their potential candidates to jail.

The NEW SDP under Chee then claims it is because they don't want to play by the rules, then the next thing they do is to start to prepare for PAP sanctioned elections. BS

opposition party must rebrand themselves and adopt a more rational and reasonable approach in the contest for support from the people.
