The power of women

This catfight has hijacked every single issue that we have been discussing. Even the Swine Flu has to play second fiddle to the women and their agenda. See how powerful they are? And everyone, like it or not, interested or not, have been lambasted with this Aware fight. The govt said they did nott want to be involved, but they are involved with the comments of several ministers. The church too is involved indirectly when a Bishop has to come out to make a stand. While the issue is simmering and the pressure building, let's recollect what were the hot issues before this thing erupted. Oh, there was a series of write ups on all the great salary earners, all earning millions as employees. I was wondering what was the agenda, to tell people that it is acceptable and admirable to earn that kind of money? Or to tell people that something is fundamentally wrong, that earning that kind of money as pay is simply atrocious? Or is it paving the ground for more people to ask for more and bigger pay packages? Or is it to say that we are still earning peanuts compare to those big earners in Wall Streets? What is the moral behind the high pay stories? What else were hot? The high HDB prices priced according to the market demand. Now that the private housing prices are tumbling, are we seeing any sign of HDB lowering their prices? No. HDB is not price takers or price followers. HDB is the real market price maker. It determines the prices of public and private housing for the masses, at least 80% of flat owners. HDB is the one that determines the price of public flats and the lower level private flats. All the crap talks about HDB pricing its flats according to the market and private sector is all bull. It is time for HDB to return to its past policies of building affordable flats for the people. Affordable should be defined using the premises of the past, not the current premises when one needs two pay packets and a life time to pay up the mortgages, and for smaller flats. The people shall not be made to pay for a small little space in the air with a big chunk of their income. This is not quality living. In fact the quality of life is declining in terms of space for the family for the money they can buy. The money can be better spent in other areas. Will we see a change in the policies for public housing? Will the people make their feelings on this issue felt in the next General Election?

If prices of HDB falls, the rest of the other property's which prices are hinged on to HDB will decline. This would means many people will suffer a great dent in the value of their assets.

Property owners will turn poorer overnight, those without a property on hand can start buying one. Then more people start buying, the prices go up again....Shall this be considered as a market recycle or renewal?

"Will the people make their feelings on this issue felt in the next General Election?"

They will send a signal that they are very happy with the status quo and return the ruling party to government again, well at least the ones who actually get to vote anyway. Tough luck for the rest, then.

I always believe that the Government will never let HDB prices fall too much. A little bit maybe, just for a little 'wayang kulit' touch.

They have total control of 90% of the land and they have total control over tbe pace of building. When the Government has what it takes to make good money, it will never let go or change its strategy, not in a thousand years. It is just a logical step, knowing that their every move is to accumulate more and more reserves, whatever the people's difficulties.

When they talk about asset enhancements and upgrading to increase the value of HDB flats, would it make sense for them to let HDB prices fall and defeat their main election ploy? Think about it. They have a lot at stake.

What can they talk about other than the mantra of asset enhancements through upgrading to buy over voters in every election?

With present policy cooked up by PAP,how do you imagine to be the life of our future generations?

The global world is becoming more and more unstable, with PAP injected competition on jobs,by opening this tiny market(PAP's gospel)to about 6 billions people on this earth, any one who can work can apply for a job in this little dot of PAP.

With the career cycle becoming shorter and shorter, who can deny that it is almost impossible for Spore citizen above 40 to get into a new meaning job and those above 35 facing accusations by free running employers(mainly GLCs and MNcs)of being over age.

So how are the future generations going to have meaning life, except that PAP indeed made their fathers and mothers richer by buying a HDB at $10,000 and now may fetch selling price of $300,000.

Presently many short sighted Singaporeans are very happy that they made paper profit on the houses in which they stay, which have a 99years life span.

If they use their brains, would they really think it is sustainable.

It is all quick fix and short sighted, typical traits of PAP's many policy,of course by jumping around and react fast, again hall mark of PAP's rule,PAP has lasted for 50 years in appearing to be in control.

Personally I do not think so!

damage is done when the bishop deny his own people he leads. The bishop should step down. a new controvesy starts... at a crucial moment the bishop turns his back on his own people.. how can he calls himself a leader... he must state his position clearly and not bow under secular pressure.. there is nothing wrong if he have to take a christian stand ...he is bishop

Of course the bishop should bow under secular pressure. It's a tussle of a secular organisation. The bishop is in no position to take a stand in this fight.

he should at least make the church's stand on the issues and not just make a political statement.

is the church in favour or against the homosexuality and liberal sexual conduct, same sex parenting?

The State(Government) should make a stand, on whether the Saga should be allow to develop or it's time that it(State) intervenes and or comes in to participate(to make a stand).

yes patriot, there are many issues that are left unanswered and will be addressed in time, the cse, the aware membership and what will aware represent after this victory and what will people view aware from this.

the victory of 1414 is only a victory in the egm. the silent majority have not spoken.

You are very right Sir, many issues to be ironed out.

CSE strkes me as the most controversial and the Traditional(Sexuality) Views that arrows go into target boards, no shooting of arrows at arrows and no shooting is possible between target boards is a sensible argument. The traditionalists, the pious and most of all; almost all parents are likely to want the usual(normal) opposite sex relationships for their offsprings.

Other sexuality variants are for the adventurous, most will be short term experimental fads and not lasting relationships.

Knowledge is good, freedom is good but ultimately they soon not be misused and abused. Let everybody justifies their actions and deeds.

It seems that everybody wants to feel good BUT is everyone prepared to do good ?

hi patriot,

we are each designed to respond in certain ways to the same or opposite sex. i am wired to like the opposite sex. i can't imagine myself going for a rub down by a masseur of the same sex. it is intolerable and mentally unbearable as far as i am concerned.

but people are wired differently.

Woman becomes better when the man appreciates her.

Man and woman ain't equal and I think it is better not to be equal. Why fight for equal rights? Man & Woman are different and contribute to the society differently, this creates harmony - can't understand why some people must die-hard try to iron both sexes to a flat equal?

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

man and woman, each holds half of the universe, in their own ways. one soft, one hard, one strong, one weak, etc.

equality must not be measured using exactly the same terms. one can bear children one can't. one have male organs and one female organs.

they all balances up to become whole.
