Infidelity or telling the brutal truth?

GST up, all prices up, everyone, or it seems like everyone is unhappy. Really? What is another $2 or $20 or $200? Rubbish, too insignificant to be bothered by such trifles. The truth, yes, the truth is that many Singaporeans are so rich beyond the imaginations of the hardlanders. Life is a bit hard in the hardlands. But out of the hardlands, life is simply beautiful. Everyday is a day of opportunities to make more bucks. And not in the thousands but hundreds of thousands or millions. There are many Singaporeans who can splurge ten or twenty thousand for a night of entertainment. Or writing a cheque for a few millions without winking. That is the real truth. The pleasant truth of the good life. What is your station in life? Sometimes gripping about all the little increases is quite insane when you are in another station when a few millions is nothing, small change : )

In every society you are going to get some people who are wealthier than others. That is because some people are better at creating wealth than others.

I don't know what bone you are picking.

10 or 20 grand on a night out is fairly common. A bottle of Chateau Petrus of good vintage is already between 10-30k. One bottle. People order more than a bottle at dinner. Yes, Singaporeans.

"A rising tide lifts all boats". A simple test: where would you rather be "poor"—in a developed country like Singapore, or an undeveloped one like Rwanda or Somalia?

wake up matilah,

it is high noon! i am teasing at all those who are gripping about a $2 increase in a plate of noodle.

it is so ridiculous. not even enough to tip the door man.

Aah, the hard truth for the poor hardlanders!

we understand their problems. we can empathise with them. we can teach them to stretch their dollars.

and they also must wake up their ideas and start to take care of themselves. there is no free lunch.

and if they are more responsible, won't squander their retirement funds away, there will be no need to extend the withdrawal age.

redbean,

Wake the fuck up.

A $2 increase in a seemingly innocuous plate of noodles is an ECONOMIC SIGNAL that someone or something might be tinkering with the fiscal and monetary mechanisms of the cuntry.

Why do you think a kopi-o which used to cost 5¢ is edging closer to $1? The kopi-o didn't change, the price did. Who/what is responsible?

The motherfucking state, that who/what.

Ah you dun geddit- redbean writes nonsense to 'wake us up' like some guru or something. He's starting to develop an inflated ego.

Watch out, Red bean!

I suppose you're referring to "coffee" for "kopi-o"?
If so, then hell to that or who or what f--- who dares meddles in my daily fix!

*elle*

hahaha,

yes elle, kopi o is our slang for coffee black. and the price is skipping by 10c or 20c. from 60c in the coffeeshop to 70c, or 70c to 90c.

the gradual adjustments due to inflation is something that is unavoidable. but profiteering is something that people feel offensive.

but sometimes we must look at the bigger picture and ask what is the cause of all the rapid rise. yes, who is the real fucker who did it?

i am stirring up a storm by taking either side of the argument. when i am not on the govt side, the paid bloggers will come attacking me.

now i tried to take the brutal super rich side, and i kenna whacked also : )

matilah, get on with your life, that's what you said to the poor buggers. and if they can't make the best out of the system, they deserved to be in their shit holes. another brutal truth.
