blooming stock market

The stock market shot pass 3000 pts. Wow, another super bull run. Everyone must be laughing to the banks. Properties and cars must be flying off the shelves. And Today paper reported that transactions of 5 room flats were increasing and downgrading trend has stopped. Great news. The restaurants and entertainment outlets must also be doing roaring businesses. How come can't see any sign of such activities of exuberants? Oh, the 5 room flats that were transacted were from cheap and unpopular Woodland. And for the last quarter, resale market saw only a slight recovery. Nicholas Mak of Frank Knight said, 'One possible reason for the weakness in the HDB market is that the strong economic growth is not widespread enough.' This also applies to the stock market. Who is making all the money? Did anyone hear of people making money? Are the aunties all queuing up to open trading accounts? Is there a buzz in the market place of frantic stock market tradings?

Lets hope the bull run continues. There is much confidence in the market. Singaporeans are all laughing their way to the bank. I am certsin that this good fortune would filter down to the low income group.

Me and all of my friends who've invested in the stock market are sitting on pretty tidy profits at the moment. If you do not know of anyone who has made money in this bull run, you're probably mixing with the wrong crowd. Maybe the ones that you mix with are the ones who spend all their time sulking in cyberspace complaining of price hikes, widening rich-poor income divide and lack of freedom. The ones who have made a killing on the other hand were busy analysing stock reports, stock charting or talking to their brokers. As they say, the glass can be seen as either half-full or half-empty. For those who view it as the latter, they only have themselves to blame for not recognising and taking advantage of the abundant opportunities available.

Hi go sti

You are quite right in what you said, but one must not be too cocky, lest you fall from a higher plane.

Anon 11.33, don't worry I have consistently been able to make money both in bull and bear markets. In fact I was busy mopping up the bargains galore during the correction in May last year when every investor and his dog were selling. I made most of my money from those stocks. The contrarian approach has always worked for me. Another fantastic run like this and I will be financially independent at the relatively tender age of 40. :)

Go sti, there you go again, blowing trumpets. I congratulate you on your ability to be financially independent by 40, but what do you mean by "finanacially independence"? Is it no mortgage? is it a few millions in you portfolio? many have achieved that and they, unlike you remain humble and compassionate. bear in mind please, there are many in Singaporean who live from salary to salary and have no extra to invest. it is not through choice but if one is not as gifted as you, then they have no opportunity to better themselves financially because they have to keep a family in food and clothes and a roof over their heads. Please do not be too high and mighty, many have achieved more and not as cocky as you.

Dear Anon, I didn't mean to be cocky. Sorry if I came across as such. I was just demonstrating what can be achieved by relying on one's God-given brain instead of sulking and complaining in cyberspace. I'm assuming you are Singaporean so you'll be very aware of our matter-of-fact, i-know-best-so-you-better-just-accept, i-will-ask-for-feedback-before-doing-anything-and-pretend-to-hear-and-give-a-damn-but-nothing-will-change-my-mind attitude of our government. They are set in their ways, so why bother trying to stop a tidal wave, when you can instead profit from the excellent opportunities created by them ? As for what financial independence means to me, suffice to say I will be debt free, have enough to be able to send my 3 kids to American universities, draw on income from my many investments for my needs, never have to work for another single day in my life and still have a healthy balance in my account. :)

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

well done sti. i can wish you well.

let me do a guesstimate of your investment. say to send 3 kids to USA alone, that will be $1.2m. say you make $600k from the stock market at 50% of your investment, it will mean that you invested $1.2m of your capital.

and you are probably 30 yr old now. I must say you are extremely rich and capable.

good for you.

sti, stock market???dat is far too back dated n slow to generate cash...have u heard of casino???if not, i would like to share wit u..everyone is making ton n ton of cash every minute on de table..It a sure win game..
One reminder please keep tis to urself, otherwise ,we risk the casino operater take note and may set stricker rule in future for us to win....Especially, singapore will be opening one soon..
Every singaporean very happy wit the "cheng hu". In future we don need to travel so far just to bring that few thousand back, wasteof time and fare.Think of the convience ,it make me smile.....
sti, so don waste ur time on the stock, that is very out dated way to make money.....hope u make u dream money there......

Anon, 1.17, I assume your comment was made tongue-in-cheek but in case it wasn't, let me just say that the only people who make monrey at casinos are the casino operators so thanks for the tip, but I will stick to my time-tested way making money through the stock market and investment real estate. :)

sti, im merely reflexing ur statment.......Go to any website, casino promoter just read on....They paint a very positive picture....If only , u allow me to show u or talk to u in person...u wil fall for it too.....Don belive?????
casino game and stock have the same function..
Ask around who make de most money in stock??? Do your homework seriuosly........

Mr Taxi, If you choose to believe what the website of a casino operator tells you, then you are truly the fool. It is akin to asking a barber if you need a haircut. Ever heard of caveat emptor ? I've made enough money on the stock market to know that it is not the same as gambling in a casino. Have you also ? If not, I don't think you are qualified to comment. Again, I am not trying to show off or be cocky.

there was a good month that i made more than 60k in the stock market. but i still did not have the confident that go sti has.

incidentally, go sti, how much is your portfolio worth now? just a ball park figure will do. then we will know how good you are.

but if you are just about 30 yr old, i don't expect you to have more than $50k invested.

Hello Ah Bean, cannot say out loud, you never know when the tax office is listening in :) All I can say is your estimation is way off the mark, though I will admit almost half of my portfolio was inherited. :)

sti, same goes as what u say,WORDS, is very mighty weapon..
MY intention here is to prevent u to mislead other....
i have a suggestion....meet up i show u.if you loss.. admit it here(in the blog)if i loss. i pay you 500 dollars.singapore...No, bad intention... just for sake of fun..

Mr Taxi, when did I mislead you ? All I said was that there are opportunnities to make money on the stock market. I did not say that whoever goes in and invest in the stock market will make the same sort of returns I or my friends made. Thanks for the offer but I ain't wasting my time for a measly 500 bucks. As they say, time is money. Besides I am not in the country at the moment. Cheers. :)

sti, actually i n u also same same....just talking only la....

hi anonymous and taxi uncle,

my estimation is to show how what it means to be able to send 3 children overseas based on a ridiculous good fortune in the stock market and what it needs to make that kind of money and only if everything goes right.

for a 30 yr old kid, he might not even have 20k invested and he is talking about a killing in the market?

Anonymous said...

Well believe what you want Redbean, I know I'm the one laughing all the way to the bank. FYI, I am in my mid 30s, and if you had read carefully, I did say I have inherited part of my portfolio. Your estimation is way off mark, dude. Cheers :)

Don't be jealous lah beanie. There are people who make money in the current bull run, you should be happy for them. Instead you cast aspertions. What do you get by doing that ? At least those people have the good sense to go out there and do something to make money. Bitching about the government on the Internet cannot put food on the table and pay your bills, hor.

whether in stock or gamble(whatever u call it).u r digging ur own grave.....yes, u may have heard alot of juicy tale....End of de day, most wil suffer....so it not consider opportunnity(if u r good in sum, not only good must be super good).tis is something very complex to understand....
only hard work money is de best...

direct to sti only......de money u make is peanut to wat i make in casino....u r just wasting u time make peanut....all exiting casino is my atm ....(just imagine how much i have)........sti, it time for u the invest in casino, forget about stock too slow n no worth de time...see u in de casino, our cheng hu, is building one, so no problem..btw, i intent to buy a few house near there...money is no problem, wat i need is convient...ur choice..

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

taxi uncle,

that's a good advice to these kids. none of them is above 30. their posts showed that they are not even the level of wee shumin or gayle goh.

me jealous? do they understand what is $60k profit from the stockmarket in a month? they don't even make $30k in a year.

as for go sti, the stocks that you inherited would not worth more than 20k in value. still dreaming of making 1.2 million to send 3 kids to the usa? if you really inherited any at all.

hi taxi uncle,

i was thinking of including a few youngsters in the series on celebrating singaporeans. and two names came to my mind. gayle goh and wee shumin. and they are young teenagers.

just think about it, i would not even consider the few kids here. and one claimed he is mid 30s. see the gap in the quality of the minds?

it is a pity really.
